Excellent clear concise explanation

I'm doing an assignment in class and I have a question. Let's say if the person on Stand was brainwashed for a long time [ now at the age 25] into doing a murder without the knowledge of knowing if it's the right thing to do. would that be fit to be pleading insanity since they didn't know right from wrong at that time and was forced into a murderous ideology?

i fit the mc naughton defense over and over. its perception of the beholder that is wrong. i get booted from societies. for being republican, i am for all parties and i support the truth on all sides. ive been booted for talking about my 8 year old truck like a girl saying i pimped my 8 year old girl. i been booted for throwing my baby on the floor. my 6 year old cat is my baby. everyone knows i am different and i talk differently. they know i do things differently too. i am weird. i am schizoaffected

2nd response. Before and after I made that comment I already realized that little-to-none of criminal that pull up the insanity defense don't get released without a punishment whether it's jail time or mental institution. (Not counting those outside of America.) If I did believe that some criminals would get away with that false defense I would say something like "I hope none of these idiots got away with this stupid defense" then it would hint that I wouldn't know anything.

you still dont know jack though.... you're not understanding a bit of what Dr. Miller is trying to suggest. you still have to plead guilty, they are simply saying yes i did that, but i was impaired at the time. it's not an excuse it is actually a guilty plea, why would you want a guy with schizophrenia in a jail cell rotting when they could be getting help. and those that are admitted to these mental facilities are pretty much going to spend the rest of their lives there, your comments are UGGHH

The insanity defense is not just an "excuse". If someone were accused of a crime and tried to use it to "escape" from their punishments...then that would be the STUPIDEST thing ever. Only about 1% of all cases attempt to use the insanity plea and only 25% of that 1% succeeds. It is very hard to defend this plea and nearly impossible if the individual is in fact not insane.

This makes no fucking sense

By using the insanity defense, you basically are pleading guilty to the crime. You're not saying, "I'm insane, therefore I didn't rape the girl." You're saying, "Yeah, I raped her, but I'm insane, so I could not have been responsible for my actions."
