What's in your first aid kit? Do you carry one on the trail? If you're new to backpacking, it can be intimidating to go into the backcountry and be worrying about if something goes wrong.
In this video, I'm going over the basics of what you should carry on the trail in order to address common injuries such as blisters and sprained ankles.
What do you carry in your first aid kit? Tell me in the comments below!

I would add... 1) Bic mini-lighter (sterilizing, fire starting back up)... 2) Exacto or utility knife blade (safely sheathed of course) and 3) pair of tweezers (for splinters mostly)... 4) single use Super Glue (bonds skin instantly when sutures are not an option) and 5) Moleskin (speaking of blisters and hot spots)... 6) Eye Drops or saline (for... you know)... As for meds, Imodium and Acid Reducer (happy stomach, happy hiker) and Benadryl (for allergic reactions... stings, bites, poison ivy, etc)...

Just catching your channel for the first time after losing 40lbs and looking at summiting some mountains in the NW. Since I changed my footwear to wide toe box and no rise, which has been amazing by the way. I also started wearing and now only wear 5-toe socks and since then I have not had a single blister on any of my toes even when up to 10 miles a day walking and hiking. Admittedly they were a bit weird at first but now are amazingly comfortable and I'll never go back. Just thought I'd share for anyone who's never looked into them. Thank you for all the great videos and advice you share.🤓

Do you prefer silver tape to Leukotape for hot spots? Is it easier to peel off later, without using oils?

Question? Would you recommend carrying a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide, hibiclens soap? Alcohol prep wipes, etc?

No to hydrogen peroxide but I’d recommend antibiotic cream like Neosporin, yes to soap in general, yes to alcohol wipes. Woes are common in first aid kits.

You could always use a sewing needle and small piece of thread leave thread sticking out so the blister don't close up and fill with puss again

TLDW: For the first 8 minutes and 45 seconds of the video all he says is to get clippers to clip your toenails and a safety pin to pop your blisters. The rest of the stuff is covered in the last 2 minutes.
