Buy your home theater gear here: paducahhometheater.com
The brand new line of subs is here!! These guys seem to be completely re-designed from the ground up. Lets get it out of the box and see what we're working with and...naturally...if Jason gets something new...he has to take it apart! Lets see what's inside this brand new monster!
As always, thanks for watching!

I love when you take these speakers/subs apart. I've always wanted to see the inner construction of the boxes. Well done! So many questions answered.

Audiohaulics did a pretty good review of this sub. It performs really well, especially at this price point. Seems like the best bang for your buck, hands down. If i ever get a new sub, im going with JL, but these are excellent for the price. Also the 5 year warranty says a lot.

You do a fantastic review, I really appreciate the look at the internals of the speaker, I'm a EE that appreciates that you gave us a peak at the amp's power electronics, and the unique design of their woofers, well done. ...and I've got homebuilts so I appreciate the build details. Looks like Klipsch is now taking subwoofers seriously. There is really some design going on there. Appears they redesigned it from the ground up. Nice. I was thinking about the RP1400 any shot you could post pictures of the internals? I'd love to see them. The 16 is pretty huge for my space.

Sales are down which affects video budget, plus Trey isn't with Klipsch anymore and lost interest. I'd have to do something else, which is a possibility, but hasn't been a priority.

Wish these had at least rca outputs and speaker level inputs to more easily use in my room that has several types of systems.
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

you can use speaker level inputs any time you want by buying a transformer, it's not magic. Cheap ones are like $14, good Jensen ones are like $200+. Some of the companies who include them just use a resistor from what I hear. Not the greatest solution.
Nice update from Klipsch but why is there no XLR input. Great job
@texmuphy68
Жыл бұрын
Because most AVRs have a cinch (unbalanced) subwoofer output. Only processors have XLR outputs.
Throw it in the trunk! How much is that mother scratcher? Never mind, cost the same as my HeresyIV’s ( I gotta do it again:)
How would you compare this to the SVS PB16 ultra? Is this subwoofer magnet/motor bigger?
@1FastGXP
11 ай бұрын
No comparison. The PB16-Ultra uses a much higher quality cast basket that adds to the rigidity of the driver while reducing unwanted resonance. Klipsch cut costs by going with a stamped steel basket. Even their older subs employed the cast basket design. This cost more to make, but shows in sound quality. Also, the PB16-Ultra driver alone weights in at 64 lbs. with a motor weight of 56 lbs. It really is a monster. 👾
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

It was never designed to compete with the PB16. The price alone ought to demonstrate that. Not a lot to compare. Some of the KZread comparisons aren't really intellectually honest in my opinion.
@conduit242

@@PaducahHomeTheaterTVhow are they not intellectually honest when the measurements over and over demonstrate differently? They have dramatically different port tunings, not sure why it’s especially surprising
No xlr and a cheap stamped basket yes its better than the spl 150 but for the price of this sub there is some serious competition.
@1FastGXP

I noticed the cheap stamped steel basket myself. For being their top of the line subwoofer. Tsk Tsk...
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

stamped baskets don't mean quite as much as people think they do with home subs. Any potential resonance is at a higher frequency than what subs are producing. The strength is more of an issue with pro audio cabinets that are being transported constantly. There supposedly is an issue with more limited Xmax but that's above my pay grade.
Is this the Beast they were promising a couple years back to compete with the SVS, is it an SVS killer ?
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

no. and no.
Is this the Beast that has been rumored over the past few years?
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

Not really. There was a prototype of a completely different design that was dubbed "the beast" internally. That's all I can say. Not sure if it will ever see the light of day at this point.

stamped steel subs just doesn't really matter in a home audio environment. any theoretical ringing is way above what the sub would be playing and you just don't need the same strength as in pro audio where cabinets are being moved and slammed around every day. A stationary subwoofer of this type just doesn't need a cast basket to perform well. That money is better off being invested elsewhere.
No app.....🤦♂
I think that brace is poor. Matrix bracing is far superior
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

like my grandfather always says. It only costs twice as much to fly first class.
Imo yes this is a nice subwoofer I'm sure it performs great. Even tho I am into home theater my main interest is car audio The funny thing is the big powerful HT subs drivers look pretty light duty and often cheap in comparison to car audio subs, take this one for instance for starters the whole 16" thing sucks they are not rebuild able unless the whole top assembly is ditched only using the motor a 16" bare cone is not readily avalible, if it was 8,10,12,15,18,21 and 24s are. The frame/basket is super chinsey, its steel and looks very thin. I CA subs not all but cast frames are pretty common in $150 subs and up and almost every thing $200 and up have cast frames they are stronger and more dead resonance wise. A triple stack is very common on $200+ subs that looks like roughly a 200oz triple slug I have a 10" sub with a 3" coil motor that size it started out as a $200 sub. Just $350/$400 will get you a beast of a driver with 300oz+ and 4" coil cast frame sub with minimum of 3" total excursion and 28mm+ of liner excursion. My custom 18" sub I built from ground up (I actually built the motor) has a 630oz 7 stack, a 3" x3" 8 layer coil huge mega roll surround on a thick pressed paper pulp cone and 12" spider and giant sundown audio cast frame likely the strongest available, I have about $700 in it. On even a 2.5k wrms amp and a basic 7cf ported enclosure tuned to around 28htz it would shake a house apart and it will run on a 5k amp non stop all day with 4" peak to peak excursion and 30mm of linier excursion that would make that very expensive Klipsch seem like a Bluetooth speaker. My point is just selling it as a HT and a pretty enclosure they charge insane prices on and the value is terrible in comparison of a car audio sub. And as soon as I can find a large PA amp reasonably priced it's going in my home theater, I'll have maybe $1400 in the whole works and it would out perform most bad boy HT subs even the big SVS pb16. But this is a nice sub lol.
@PaducahHomeTheaterTV

Where do I start. Home Theater isn't a competition environment and rebuilding sub drivers just isn't a thing, they rarely blow up and it's not worth messing with when they do. Cast baskets just aren't necessary in a home environment. The strength isn't needed due to not being dropped like pro audio, the resonances are way above the frequencies that the sub plays. 7 cubic feet is pretty danged big and is obviously not the target of mass produced subs targeted to the average user, plus once you consider markup and shipping that $700 is way higher so it's not really an apples to apples comparison.

yeah the new ones are a lot better. even the spl-150 had hardly any amps that failed. It was really just an issue with the early R-115SW's. The new ones don't have a failure rate that is any higher than any other company.
