I’m using the Chase Freedom Flex for groceries, gas, gym memberships, and dining out (just got approved last week!); the American Express Blue Cash Preferred for streaming, and the Chase Amazon Prime Visa for my catch-all spend (got a 2% bonus catch-all bonus from opening a Chase checking account).

I love that credit card content creators are now showing what’s in their digital wallet as well!

You get 9X on grocery with your new CFF Q1 2024. New CFF has 5X on grocery and gas the first year. CFF Q1 2024 5X grocery category. That equals 1X + 4X + 4X = 9X for groceries in Q1 2024.

My current setup: - Chase Sapphire Reserve: 10x on Lyft rides + Lyft Pink, 3x on dining & general travel, Priority Pass (+restaurants/spas), TSA Precheck/Global Entry, Instacart & Doordash credits - Chase Freedom Unlimited: 3x on drugstores - Capital One Venture X: 2x on miscellaneous spend, 10x on hotels via portal - IHG Premier (newly acquired in January 2024): 26x on IHG properties (~13% cash equivalent) My final Chase 5/24 slot will be for the Chase Freedom Flex, which I plan on acquiring in March 2024. That will net me 5x on grocery stores & rotating categories (gasoline is irrelevant to me, since I don't own a car), along with a 20k UR SUB!

Not sure if it still is but the welcome bonus on the Flex combines with the quarterly as well so you would get 9% back on grocery (up to $1500) during the first quarter

If your goal is to get a long-term card to earn rewards on your monthly expenses, I'd go with the CFF or CFU. If your goal is to get as many points as possible in a short time frame, I'd go with the CSP for its larger bonus (60K standard, sometimes 80K or 100K during limited-time promos).

Freedom Unlimited, CSP, Amex Gold and Bilt.

A great video as usual ! I have the same offer on bonvoy business card but I was wondering if I spend 4500 dollars in one shot , would I get 15 k bonvoy points bonus or just 5 k ? Like do I have to spend 1500 dollars 3 times to get 5 k bonus each time or would spending 4500 dollars get me 15 k bonus ? Thanks

Based on how I read the terms, it sounds like 3 transactions are needed. That's because the terms say, "You will receive 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points after you spend a minimum of $1,500+ in one or more qualifying purchases by 3/31/2024." Since it's "$1,500+," that just represents the minimum for 1 or more transactions to reach that threshold. I could be wrong though. I'd contact Amex for further clarity.

I am planning to get the Chase Sapphire Preferred later this year and also the Amex Platinum late this year or early next year. Then I will have the Chase and AmEx trifectas.

@@Brianpeckinthe customer service with the platinum alone is worth the fee. Last year I was having trouble getting a refund on a computer that never got delivered. Was getting the run around for weeks. Called Amex and I had the money refunded that same day.

Question: If you're shopping at Costco, why are you not getting gas there? I see you're using the Custom Cash for gas but that's a Mastercard. Wouldn't Costco gas be cheapest?

For me, it's a balance of time, convenience, and return. I don't like waiting in long lines at Costco gas stations, so I'm willing to pay a bit more to get on my way faster.

Mark, how do you feel the Chase Ink Preferred amd the Chase Sapphire Reserve compare? I understand one is $95 and the other is $550 or $250 effective annual fee. I believe the Ink Preferred is 2% on travel and the Sapphire Reserve 3%. I believe I could use the Sapphire Lounge at LGA, BOS, JFK and PHL. I am flying 5 times a year out of FLL or MIA and don't think the $695 Platinum is overkill. The Amex will not be widely accepted outside of the country and I don't think I will enjoy keeping track of all the credits. Are you happy with the US Bank Altitude Reserve?

@@MarkReese I would like to make one international trip a year in business class if the flight is over 5 hours. It can be a long trip to Asia or Europe and another year a close trip such as the Dominican Republic, Cancun or San Andres, Colombia. I am still over Chase 5/24 until June 2025. I am gardening in the meantime and made a list of cards I would like to open but would want to open no more than 3 personal cards a year. Waiting 18 months to be under Chase 5/24 seems endless but I learned about flexible transferrable currencies. I like AA, Delta and JetBlue and may keep one of each at $99 or $150 just for the signup bonus and a low level of status with Delta and American. To me American Express charge cards seems to be for people making $200,000 a year, taking Uber once a week and flying traveling for work by airline once a week. Most of the work travel I do is by car here in Florida. I have gotten value from the Citi Costco card at 4x on EV charging higher than Bank of America's Customized Cash. I currently have 19 cards and will downgrade or close 3. The Spirit credit card was not worth the squeeze.

@@frankcutronijr - Got it. Both the Chase Ink Business Preferred (CIBP) and Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR) earn 3X on Travel. If you only care about earning points to save money on travel, I'd go with the CIBP. If you also want lounge access, go with the CSR. Pass on the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve if your focus is international travel.

@@MarkReese I believe I would chose CIBP in the beginning for a year, then the CIBU and the CIBC. A year later I would want to climb the ladder with Amex Green, Gold and Platinum. It really depends what the Amex Platinum annual fee is. My feeling with Amex charge cards if you are not spending $75k to &100k a year on their cards you can be left in "pop up jail". If I would like Chase Sapphire Lounge Access I may be able to pick it up through Chase Ritz Carlton. Amex Centurion Lounges are the best fit for me with a lounge at FLL and MIA. The Sapphire Lounges are new while some of the Centurion Lounges and especially Admirals Club Lounges are dated and the food is average at best. AA is the big player out of MIA.

Only thing I dislike about discovery is no upgrade or downgrades. Had the discovery it secured for awhile of course unsecured at this point but doesn't have rotating like the main it card. And can't change to it 😢. So it's a sock drawer card now
