    This is great advice! I've had to pack for diving and kayaking, and it helps to have a list. I wrote the kayaking list on a piece of old shower curtain (plastic) with a marker so it is waterproof. Dive slates are nice notepads for wet spaces too (they work underwater, with a normal pencil). A checklist for when you're about to get in the water is good too.

    WOW, i know that ... my Bag is even bigger than yours and stuffed with at least 5 different towels (just in case, ´cause you never know, right?) and almost the same stuff you have in your Bag !!! Nose clip, Goggles, earplugs and what not, undies and stuff for your skin and hairs ... oh Boy ... such a heavy Bag but necessary! And since i´m always a clumsy Girl i keep my First Aid stuff in my Bag too!!! Just a mini first aid bag but you never know when you are going to need them ... better safe than sorry, right? Love your Video! Stay safe and happy swimming!

    I know right! Not to worry though, I've been using the same bags for years now and I do just wash them if they need it. Since they are plastic they'll last forever... Thank you for watching!

    I'm brand new to mermaiding, so can you use the garbage bag to move your tail around without getting your car soaked? As long as you don't leave it in there because mildew and mold and other bad things.

    At my first mer pod meet, I forgot to bring a towel so I went home wet! Imagine sitting on a quarter of a bum cheek to not get the seat wet and balancing against the breaking of the bus driver!! Luckily, my home is four bus stops away from the pool, which also has their own bus stop. Courtney, you're so organized! I just have a really big bagpack with lots of zipped pockets with kids 2 in 1 shampoo, after swim hair cream, towel, monofin, swimmers, tail, plastic bags, first aid kit, goggles and some change for the pool and a little extra for an ice cream or drink! I usually bring my own food cos the pool canteen is expensive!

    our dive instructor always told us to put ear drops in our ears after a dive, comes as ear drops, or use rubbing alocohol, gets the water out of your ears... cant use ear plugs over a certain depth I'm used to a dive mask and found goggles disconcerting. I might get used to them, or maybe it's easier to just open eyes underwater!

    I'm curious about the card. What does it say/ what information of yours does it include? What are the rules for that area that requires a card? What did you have to go through to get the card? (via that area.) Also: Do you know how many stamps are needed to get a letter to Canada from the US? I'd love to send you some mail!

    It is specific only to one of the areas I swim in. Every pool will have it's own rules and guidelines for the use of mermaid tails. Check with your local pool to see what their rules are.

    How and where do you get a certification that you're cool to swim in a mermaid tail, I need one desperately. How do you dry your mermaid tails? If I'm swimming in a Springs or something i'll usually put my tail in a plastic bag, get in the car, and then set it out to dry outside on a hanger to air dry, is that healthy for the tail?

  • @CourtneyMermaid

    @CourtneyMermaid

    6 жыл бұрын

    To answer your first question there is no globally recognized certification for mermaid tail swimming currently. The certification I have is specifically for swimming in my city. For your second question I also transport my tails in a plastic water-tight bag. I always rinse my tails out beforehand then put them in the bag. If I need to wash it out more thoroughly, I do that when I get home. I always lay my tails out flat on a drying rack to dry. I hope that helps!

    Some pools in certain districts will require a swim test. The card shows I have already completed it and passed and therefore don't need to do it again at another location.
