Great stuff Kym! I have a question that I think you could answer for me. I'm attending my first F1 race in May... As an amateur photographer, I'd love to bring at least one body and a couple lenses with me. is this something that Formula one would allow or will I get stopped at the gates? My concern is that I'll get turned away at the gates because of my camera/cameras.

That StreamDeck usage was brilliant too - it immediately inspired me for some ideas for a new TouchOSC layout on my iPad. I like that Canon added the helmet and car tracking to the R6 and R5 in firmware.

Hi Kym, great video. Any chance of some side by sides with the old cameras? One thing to note, the noise cancellation on the AirPods is not actually offering hearing protection, and there is no research to suggest it does. Working in noisy environments I was curious when you mentioned it. You will see a lot of the pit crew will have moulded in ear monitors, and I imagine one of the major players in this like ACS will turn up at races from time to time. At current there isn’t really a wireless solution to these, so that might be a reason not to. But you will thank yourself for proper hearing protection in the future. I use ACS as I work at gigs and I am used to loud environments.

Hey Kim, the HD60S is an elgato capture card and it is amazing for not just using them to use ur camera for live streams but if you were to do a good deal of recoding other devices on ur laptop or PC it is a great deal of help

The Pocket 2 with the media handle and wireless mic work great! Especially since you can just airdrop the files easily

How did you like the f4 version of the rf 70-200 Kym? great insight into what goes into planning your new season and kit to take.

1:20 for a moment I thought Kym was gonna say he'll be giving away one of his 1dx mk IIIs! 🤣

Awesome vid. Such an inspiration to continue my passion for photography. Thanks for sharing the work that you do.

For the past 3 months I've been using the R6 next to the 1Dx MKII shooting pro-football ( soccer). Guess which one I use the most!! Great gear video Kym. Hope you get your R3 for the coming F1 season. Have you tried code replacement on FM?

I know a high-school buddy who is also a professional cameraman but I never knew that they would use these massive lenses but I never knew the lenses would cost as much as a 4-door sedan Much props Kym will see you at the start of the season in Australia

Hi Kym, very interesting video. Love your photography i too love the Monaco coming out of the tunnel images.. awesome. I see you say you pack in the think tank bag. But you can take that into an airplane? including the 600mm? that gear must have a lot of weight. and the 600mm cant fit into overhead? im a technical person sure like to understand how to get from a to b to then focus on the image ca[pture. tanks for your insights and images. regards

The Elgato SD60S+ is a capture card that converts the "way too large" file size of your camera, to a more streamable and stable version for the internet, making almost any DSLR and mirrorless fabulous for live streaming and online classes for instance :-) we use it for online classes while I travel and replace it with a Blackmagic ATEM mini, for multiple camera settings when we do live product presentations using up to 4 high-end cameras, for stunning results and a smaller budget :-) thx a lot for your content, always interesting to see what other photog travel with :-) just switched to the medium format from Fuji, the GFX100s, mind-blowing...

Hi Kim, great videos. Qq, I wonder why Iphone magnetic mounds are not being used more as they are so easy to stick your phone onto a tripod.

Could you make a video showing how you did the setup for your stream deck and lightroom.. it would be great.

Can you explain your wireless shooting and uploading through your hotspot? Are you shooting into the Canon app through your laptop/phone and having that app push your images out?

I never thought of bringing a power strip with me and adapting it to the local plug and voltage with an adapter so I can use my devices with the plugs that came with the box. That’s genius right there and something I plan on doing when I travel overseas.

Using a stream deck to increase the efficiency of your photo editing/broadcasting workflow?! Genius. Workflow is arguably the most important skill a photographer needs to master to become successful- love that you’re sharing some insight. I’m assuming your approach to photography is an emphasis on capturing images that are near perfection that need minimal editing? What about the photos you included in your book- did any of the images send you down an editing time-sink? Lastly since we are talking racing- I would love some editing/publishing speed runs comparing your new rig to previous years? Ha!? Do they compare relatively to the speed increase of Formula 1 cars over the years? I’m new to your channel so apologies if you’ve already answered my nerdy workflow questions. Have you posted a video about the history of your professional career?

GREAT GEAR FOR THE BEST PICS

My good old Pentax K-3 is hiding under a pillow at the sound of 30fps. However, it's no slouch for a camera made in 2013 at 8.3 fps with a mirror, focus and metering. Mirrorless is no doubt getting to the point of being such a good switch but I still need time to get used to an EVF. I didn't realise how sensitive my eyes were to flicker and lag until I started testing EVFs but I know they will get to a point where I won't notice and then I think I'll switch (maybe). A Pentax shooter is a hard person to change lol

Airpods are noise-cancelling yes, but they don't necessarily protect your hearing. If I were in your shoes I'd be getting some custom moulded in-ears just like the drivers and pundits.

Love that you use the osmo pocket 2. I've got the original and It's a great little camera and I can't wait to see what they improve on in the next generation.

That little black thing is an Elgato HD60 S+, I have the same thing. It's use is to capture anything HDMI traveling through it so it doesn't use your computers resources to stream audio/video.

No one needs car auto focus, specially on track. You can place the focus point on the line where the cars are. Eye af is nice to have and the 600 or so focus points as well, but car af is just something i don't think is needed

Thanks for this, Kym - very instructive. The weight savings going from DSLR to mirrorless are considerable (and I imagine even more so if you were to eventually replace all your lenses with the mirrorless versions - an expensive proposition!). I'm curious about the Instagram posting software you mention at 10:42. Like many others, I find posting to Insta a bit of a faffle and I'd love to know if you've got a better solution than either (a) the developer mode trick on Safari, or (b) moving photos to a phone and typing descriptions, hashtags, etc. on that device. Thanks!

There used to be a plugin for Lightroom, LRInstagram or something. But Adobe killed that. From my understanding you can publish from other adobe products if you more than LR and photoshop. Also interesting in learning more about this direct posting as dropping to my dropbox and the upload from phone is taking its time. I do see that Instagram have made uploads from webpage available. So maybe a easy protocol to push to.

Since you said you like the Stream Deck. Check out MMO Mice. You are able to use macros without taking your hands off your mouse. Logitech has a 24 Button model. Razor has a 12 button model.
