I watched the 1970 total eclipse with a bucket of water from the reflexion. This was in Florida. It was a very eerie twilight glow and had an effect on the birds especially. I was fourteen at the time and it was one of those memorable events. The bucket trick produced a great image preventing eye damage.

One regular welding helmet glass is not safe. Rather use a mirror or a pinhole to project an image.

I'm three hours away from the totality zone. We're staying home! We went north three hours for the eclipse in 2017, and although the eclipse was worth it... the traffic was not 😂🤦‍♀️

I went to the point of totality in 2017 and it wound up being cloudy and rainy. All you could tell was that it darkened slightly. That’s usually how most of the astronomical phenomena turn out for me.

There is no totality point, there's a line that gives the longest totality. If you're off the line you get shorter totality (unless you're far enough to not get totality at all). The weather was just fine in Kentucky in 2017 where we were watching. Coming from Finland we had to think ahead where the best chances of good weather were.

@@pasiojala3227 There is absolutely a path of totality. If you are outside that path you will not see a total eclipse. I was in North Carolina and travelled to another part of North Carolina that was supposed to be within the “path of totality.” It was spur of the moment and had bad weather. It happens.

For the people saying that Jesus is coming back on that day it's a lie The Bible says no man shall ever know when Jesus is coming back he doesn't even know he's coming back so stop lying.

Eclipses always touted as rare and astounding to witness but end up pretty meh. The most amazing thing to me is picturing how people of the past were probably freaked out terribly without understanding

Idk...totality was different. I've seen a few partials before, and yeah...meh. but at totality...people were uncontrollably bursting into tears, the birds and bugs went silent, it was eerie and supernatural feeling for sure🤷‍♂️.

If you have seen a partial solar eclipse, you have not seen a total solar eclipse. I have seen 5 total solar eclipses (2002 Australia, 2006 Turkey, 2009 China, 2012 Australia, 2017 US).

People are insane thinking this is how to world ends. When something happens that usually doesn’t people think it’s the end of the world. No one knows when the world is going to end for a reason! ❤

Not sure where you came up with that idea but it is actually completely false. Total solar eclipses DO NOT happen every second of every day around the world, and neither do typical partial or annular eclipses. The MAXIMUM number of solar eclipses at all on a very fortunate year for them is only 7, with the minimum being 2. But TOTAL solar eclipses happen *on average* about once every two to three years and very rarely, twice a year.

I was in elementary school when the eclipse happened in 1979. Fast forward to 2017 and I was doing furniture installation at the same school when the eclipse happened again. My cousin works at the school as a teacher and her birthday is April the 8th. This is a strange coincidence. I live in Houston Texas and haven't even thought about my old school or been back to it.

So the world will end in America, the rest of us we chill😂

@UndarZ but I see what's up now after a little research. Apparently there are 2 different types of eclipses. The moon orbits around the earth in an ecliptic circle. If you don't know what that means, it means that the moon gets closer and further to and from the earth every time it orbits and this eclipse is what they call "supreme" because the moon will be at its closest to the earth, appearing bigger than the sun. So when it eclipses, it will block out the sun totally, leaving only the Corona in view. When I was in the 3rd grade, the moon was at its furthest from the earth. So it appeared smaller than the sun.

I was 8n colorado during the 2017 one. It qas a cloudless day. Weirdest thing ive ever seen. The leaves on the trees cast half moon shapes in like an exhoed paterna and when the wind blew through the trees the sway made them look like they were in a glitching sway. Super weird.

Pepole who didn’t realize there was a eclipse: So basically the moon covered the sun and made the sun look like a moon shape like this “🌙” and to know when it happens you start to notice birds and bats flying around because how dark it was then you would need these special glasses that are pitch black but you can only see things that are very very bright with them. I didn’t see it cuz it was so cloudy 😭

I watched a total solar eclipse in 1995 in elementary school. We were given glasses so we wouldn’t get blinded.

I remember seeing a solor eclipse and it wasnt 79. More in the 80s. I was a grade school student. We all watched it with a peace of cardboard with a hole in it.

If you don’t know crow & havnt seen any of his work, I highly suggest checking out his movie “Shoot the Moon”. & his older content still here on YT. Depends when and from where. You need glasses if any of the sun is still not covered by the moon, because you're effectively staring at the sun.
