Do you want to make a bet, that he will spin this story to prove he's the second coming? He the ubermensch, thanks to his wisdom, and money (hail to the capitalism), overcome his serious illness, came back from the edge of life and death. And how all of this will be prove about how anything and everything he say is ultimate truth.

Remember back when everyone seemed to care about what people like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopopodopolopodopolous were doing all the time as well? Those guys are still around and they still have their hardcore followers, but those of us outside of that right wing bubble rarely hear anything about them these days. It's the same with Peterson. Internet personalities like them usually fade away after their 5 minutes of fame is up. The news cycles move on to the next big right wing "controversy" and the reactionary right wing mob that only ever cared about them insofar as it gave them an excuse to "trigger the libs" dutifully follows suit. It's all just meaningless, manufactured nonsense.

@@ScoopMeisterGeneral Sure, I'll give you an example, maybe you can experience a bit of conservatism yourself. Progressives often say "Free healthcare for all", or "raise the minimum wage". They don't mean literally "for everyone", they just mean "I want to believe this is for everyone, because it is too painful to realize that we are excluding people, and that we HAVE to exclude people". Deeper than that, they mean "We need to make progress somehow, it has to go in baby steps, we can't afford to include everyone, it is unthinkably difficult to include everyone, and would probable cause collapse". For example, why don't we increase the minimum wage by 500%? Sure that would mean the richest people would get less, but it would create more equality. For example, if we raise the minimum wage in North America from about 60 cents to $3.00 per hour, and remove border between the "US" and "Mexico". That would give people in the bottom of North America, (what we call "Mexico") a wage rise of about 500%. Surely if there is a right to a minimum wage, that should apply regardless of where people are born? Try to do that for the entire planet. Living standards of people in the West would plummet. Then do it for healthcare for literally all humans on the planet (ie, "for all"), except make sure people have access to clean toilets and drinking water. If there isn't enough money (or doctors) to give everyone on the planet comprehensive health care (there currently isn't), then reallocate all money from all non life threatening surgeries (let alone cosmetic surgeries) to life threatening surgeries regardless of where they are on earth. "You have a broken finger? Sorry, yes it's bent, but just let it heal crooked, because we have sent half the doctors abroad in order to bring the global health care standard up the level where any medical problem worse than a broken leg is treated, we can't currently afford to attend to broken fingers." Try giving "Free college" to every human on the planet. How would you react if Bernie said "Instead of making free college subject to having a piece of paper saying you are an "American citizen", we are going to use that money towards free college for all people on the planet. So now the program will cost roughly 10x as much as before, or if we don't have enough money, we'll just have to cut funding for PhDs. Why should anyone have the right for funding towards a PhD if someone on the planet doesn't even have money for a college degree?" Seriously, if Bernie said that on Day 1 of his presidency, "I have become more progressive, these are my ideas", you would see almost everyone saying "Woah, those are not Americans", which really means "We can't afford to include those people within the group we want to grant rights to, it would seriously mess things up, so we have to draw a boundary around a made up concept called "Citizenship"." Which really means "I am taking a conservative position and being against equal rights for all, because it would dilute the quality of life (and ability to contribute) for the select privileged group I am part of." You might also be feeling conservative in terms of "Those ideas are way to out there, what do you mean citizenship is made up...".

@@LightAndShaddow5 Sanders isn't talking about extending his policies to everyone on the planet. Nor is he talking about raising the minimum wage by 500%, or removing the border between the US and Mexico, or a thing of the sort. You can't just dream up some absurd "what if" scenario and then pretend that's what progressives think. Equal rights for all people doesn't mean that the West has to pay for the entire world's healthcare and free college. This is just nonsense.

@@ScoopMeisterGeneral "Equal rights for all people doesn't mean that the West has to pay for the entire world's healthcare and free college. This is just nonsense." You just experienced some conservativism, by hearing a position that was so far to the left that it was outside your overton window. You can't get equal rights for all (eg free college), without the complete desolving of boundaries of "west" and "east", into a global one world government. About 100 years ago, president Woodrow Wilson attempted to unite the world politically, including having everyone speak the common language of Esperanto. Plenty of people have thought about disolving nation state barriers in order to extend equal financial and social rights to all humans on the planet. You can go a step further, throw in some vegan activism and you have equal rights for all animals (not just human animals) on the planet. I think it just seems like nonsense to you because you have fairly mainstream progressiveness, which is conservative in comparison to such ideas. Mainstream conservatives feel as "nonsense" about free college, as you probably do about what I've written. Yet, if humanity continues progressing, both will happen at some stage.

Besides, if you buy the story that everything terrible just happened on its own, with no personal responsibility on the part of the victim, you deny that person all agency in the past (and, by implication, in the present and future, as well). In this manner, you strip him or her of all power." - Jordan Peterson I can't believe JP's own daughter would completely deny her own father's agency by making by making him a noble victim of circumstances. Okay, remember when Ennis called Jack's widowed wife Lureen to find out how Jack died, and she had to recited that bullshit story about a tire accidentally blowing up, the rim breaking his nose/jaw, laying him out cold, bleeding to death, and so on? Well, that cold demeanor that Anne Hathaway had while playing Lureen Twist in that part of the movie, and reciting that bullshit story, is the same demeanor that Mikhaila Peterson seems to have while talking about the issue of her father's health, treatment and recovery. It's not just my bias causing me to get 'that vibe.' Now I understand folks deal with real shit like this in different ways, but my point is, questioning and doubt about the legitimacy of this story should at least be understood. if Jordan is as bad off as he is letting on, then I wish him recovery, and with that recovery, I hope he makes repairs for all the harm he's caused, as per one of the 12 steps. Addiction is no laughing matter, but karma is. And despite the folks who are deep in the comment section and showing how selective their political correctness is, that is the reason Sam and Mike are laughing it up, because Jordan Peterson has shown himself to be a hypocrite in a major way, especially those he lectured about getting one's shit together before ever trying to make the world better for themselves or anyone else. And those who are clutching their pearls and 'cancelling' Sam Seder/Michael Brooks for their response to this story? Well, I guess you just 'took it out of context', and maybe you should watch the entire show to grasp all the ideas in their 'proper' context. 😉

Why would any of the lobster boys make any attempt to grasp the actual context? They're, quite hypocritically, only interested in their tribalist, identity politics narrative. They don't give a flying shit about the reality of the situation, they're just mindless followers. They whine and cry all day about PC culture and perceived victimhood, until they feel they're the victims; then it's somehow different, and not about their feelings. It's clear that Jordan Peterson is a grifter and a gargantuan hypocrite, and he'll say anything to appeal to his incel lobster boys as long as they keep handing over their money (or most likely their mom's money) to him.

How he reacted to the meds and why he is away and what they are trying to do to get better. We don't deserve more information. Addiction is awful and we don't get to judge others how they deal with it. It is gross how people are talking about this situation... What do you want them to do give out medical charts? JohnnyTheWolf, This is why people need to actually try to comprehend a person’s argument. Peterson never once said that he did not want transpeople to have the same legal protections as others. NEVER. His argument has always been that compelled speech, is tyrannical, and it is! Language evolves as new terms become part of common parlance, and thus, become generally accepted as part of the lexicon. That is, and has always been, his point! Sadly, his arguments have been mischaracterized, and he has been maligned based on what others insist that he is saying, rather than what he has actually said. This is common in today’s world, where we rarely have discussions with the notion that someone else may actually have something to teach us, and vice versa. What usually happens, is that people approach each other with a spirit of antagonism, and make ad hominem attacks, aimed at “owning” or “destroying” each other. I oppose such a destructive practise. Dialog is an integral part of progressing as a society. I may not agree with everything that Dr. Peterson says, but I certainly agree with that!

JohnnyTheWolf , At the Senate Hearings, in which Peterson appeared, Peterson quoted the Human Rights Commission, the administrative body which applies the statute. In response to Peterson’s contention that he would not use pronouns imposed by law, the Commission stated that non-compliance with use of a complainant’s preferred pronouns would “likely constitute an offence” under the act. The bill imposed penalties which include a fine, and failure to pay the fine could result in imprisonment. Peterson has never said that transpeople should not have the same rights as others, and your contention that the bill does not compel speech, despite evidence to the contrary, does not contradict this fact.

Medically, their story makes absolutely no sense. To say, or imply, that they had no option but to go to a hospital in Russia is patently absurd. It sounds much, much more like Michael said, he has an addiction and that's too much like what happens to the ordinary rabble that he's supposed to be teaching. When it happens to him it must be something special, mysterious and even mystical which no "ordinary" medicine or treatment plan can deal with. They're trapped inside their own delusion. Or just cynically protecting their brand.

Jordan Peterson “fan” here. I think this video does a fair point and makes fair points. The other guy is a bit of a dick though... I understand the likelihood that the Peterson’s are currently putting up a show of strength instead of being real, which I think may be a mistake if it is what they’re doing. Jordan and his father, grandfather and so on have all had severe cases of clinical, genetically predisposed depression which Jordan has suffered through his entire life. I think his model of belief, that which makes up his entire persona, is what he has constructed to deal and cope with his burden of crippling depression. His latest fall due to unfortunate and stressful life circumstances (his wife being severely ill) may have been enough to degrade his own self and become unfortunately dependent on addictive drugs hard to get off of. But his history of severe clinical depression and his latest falter does not invalidate his message. His message has helped him cope with depression and has helped others who don’t have their shit together get their shit together. And one last note on his supposed “transphobia.” Jordan Peterson doesn’t mind trans people or the use of preferred pronouns. What he does care about is being forced by law to use certain speech, which is an attack on personal liberty.

Agree or disagree with that policy but Peterson MASSIVELY misrepresented it. It was opportunistic. He has videos before he got popular where he's shitting on PC when everyone on their internet + their grandma shat on people with green hair with wacky ideas. They pathologically detest weakness because they see it in themselves. Imo of course, just armchair psyching a bit. Heroin Mom Firstly, thank you. 😉 And physical strength is one thing, but there are obviously other kinds of strength that are more important. For example, the strength to beat deep addiction, I can’t even imagine it. Also, I realize that my physical strength is ephemeral at best; an unfortunate accident or sudden affliction could take it all away in an instant and I will be at the mercy of other’s empathy and compassion, so it’s best to exercise these virtues myself imo and not behave like some wannabe alpha ape. Which is almost a Darwinistic justification in a sense, one that perhaps even Peterson could appreciate.

To people concern trolling the cast for making light of the situation, you have to understand that JP's done immense harm by suggesting situations like his own are personal moral failings and not larger systemic failures. And rather than using this as a moment to call for positive awareness of those problems, he's doubling down to maintain his brand. These toxic ideas need to be discredited and yes, humiliated. Even Peterson himself talks about the importance of radical humiliation and then humility in affecting personal change. I say this as someone who's lost a family member to this addiction. They aren't helped by being told to man up. They're helped when they can access the care they need, when it's not a solitary struggle from being stigmatized, and when we start to get irresponsible profit-motivated scrip pushing out of the picture. JP has fought against every one of those solutions. I have immense sympathy for JP, his family and anyone in their situation. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But in this weird deflection, he's still hurting people.

Paul The Painter I don’t even agree with all of what Jordan Peterson says. But he’s a polite and well mannered man, who acts with courtesy to everyone. He should never be picked on in his darkest times like this, he should be supported. It’s actually sickening to watch this video.

@@xboxfullauto1000 yes, of course, Jordan Peterson is all about context isn't he ;o) You don't know me, yes I am pretty kind and respectful to people, especially to people Peterson likes to disenfranchise with his out of context half-truths! but don't let that stop you from ignoring those little known manipulations of facts and data. Peterson cries as do his acolytes that he's so misunderstood and taken out of context; rubbish, he infers and obfuscates to trick people into believing he is knowledgeable about stuff once they're hooked on his simplistic psychology and like clockwork you did the same. Do you ever admit to anyone how out of context much of his misinformation is when it suits him? erm No sorry, he doesn't get a free pass when he has completely in context done nothing to take his own advice and manipulate the situation to make out its not his own fault, in the way he tells others it is!

I generally like what you guys have to say. But I think you guys are overlooking something. As someone who's battles drug addiction for most of my life I can speak to getting sober. There's an overwhelming amount of shame and embarrassment when you finally take that step to get sober, then imagine mixing that with adverse reactions and increased anxiety. from my perspective it doesn't seem farfetched to think " I wanna make a statement to let people know what's going on, but I'm too embarrassed to show my face." Drug addiction really does affect almost everything about a person, including changes in confidence and perspective on reality. Other than that I've no idea, it does seem like a really weird set of events as well.

I get what you're saying. But as former addict, don't you sniff deflection and dishonesty all over this? I do. They are basically trying to say he isn't like the rest of us junkies. To not call an addict out on their bullshit is enabling. And this reeks of bullshit. He went to russia to do a medically induced rapid detox because he wanted to take the easy way out. He wanted to go to sleep for a few days and wake up sober. That's why he had to go to russia. That's likely why he is doing so poorly right now....there is a reason he had to go to russia for it. Its dangerous!

Surprised anyone's bothered about this vid tbh. It's more mocking Peterson s hypocrisy than anything else. Its pretty hard not to find that somewhat ridiculous and to an extent, funny in a darkly comic way.

If it were anyone else I would feel bad for him. However, Peterson has snubbed the scientific consensus of psychology in matters such as addiction, depression, gender dysphoria, etc. to push his political views via his target audience of vulnerable young men who he turned into agents of harm onto others he dislikes as well as themselves instead of helping them, betraying his obligations as a psychologist. As a result, he is guilty of ruining thousands, if not more, lives. So no, not only do I feel sorry for him but this is justice and I rejoice that it came in a form that exposes his teachings as harmful nonsense as well as his blatant hypocrisy.
