He needs to come back for another year. He folded under the pressure against Oakland and struggled with athletic defenders, and the NBA has a lot of those. One more year to work on his shot creation, decision making, and mental toughness and he can easily be a top 10 pick again

I think he is one of the best if not the best shooter in UK history! I really hope he comes back next year but I don't blame him going on to the NBA.

So disappointed but wasn’t with our defense all season the fact we struggle with teams like LSU & Vanderbilt those are games we are supposed to lead tip to buzzer and bye a large margin , had this team locked in on defensive it would of and could have been a story book year .We had the 1 ranked incoming class but I think in my 35 years of keeping up with Cbb this is the weakest class as far as overall talent since I been watching, I do think there can be a few NBA semistars in the class but I.Collier was 1# guy of class and A.Bradshaw was top big man and that’s no disrespect towards them but it was a down year with available high school talent now with that said the next 2 upcoming seasons we may see as much talent coming coming out as any season with Dynabansta & Flagg ,Acuff , Boozer twins , Mcneely ,Queen , Quintenence ,I.I.Jackson just to name a few it’s gonna be an abundance of young talent coming in next 2 seasons.

he played scared, he was throwing lobs into the stands, he hesitated on catch and shoot opportunities, and he was lost defensively. so yeah he played terribly against Oakland

He is a Kentucky kid. His dad won two nattys at Kentucky the second he was a huge factor in. He gets what it means to play for Kentucky. Plus the NIL $$. My money says Reed comes back.

I think one more year would and he would be a much better college player and improved draft stock. But I enjoyed watching this team so much this season I just want some of them to come back for next year

Unc fan here, I was thinking when i saw him how that kentucky always seems to have a dude named sheppard that shoots daggers. Then i heard you say he was sheppards son. I did not know that. Picking up where his pops left off. Well almost. If he stays at uk, he will probably give teams a fit like his dad.

This is why he fell apart, all of you are making this kid the savior of ky basketball. BBN has turned Reed into basketball Jesus, and BBN will crucify him eventually. He should get the hell out, because the NBA will be far easier to deal with versus this fanbase

The best thing that can happen.To Reed is getting drafted by a team that got a solid good point guard already.So he can grow as a backup and his game can develop. Instead of throwing in the mix as starting point guard.He should go now why he hot.Becausr teams will be more prepare for him.And his game might get expose

I wanna say this when we started reed and Dillingham we lost 5 out of 6 games they played better because they came in against tired guys or second strings

@@dannyisbeast1000 Not true at all. Dillingham started just 1 time all season in a very early pre-season game. He never started a single game with Sheppard all season. Sheppard started 5 times. UK lost 4 of those games. In those 4 losses Sheppard averaged 21.5pts, 7rbs, 5 asts, 1.5 blks, 52% FG, 43% 3pts.. In other words, Sheppard played exceptional and had nothing to do with why we lost those games. Not another coach in the country would've had Sheppard and Dillingham not starting. It's just plain old common sense to start your best 5 players at each position.

He needs to come back at least one more season

If Reed Sheppard wants a full career in the NBA he needs to stay in school. He will need to develop into a true point guard who can average close to 10 assists and 20 points. With more mental toughness he could become a Chris Paul type.

@@johndavis9321 what american player is even a top player anymore? shai is as good as players from na come but even hes not technically american lol. the best players in the world, jokic, luka and giannis all developed entirely while playing pro ball. we also see an increasingly large amount of top draft picks and top rookies playing pro ball instead of going to college considering that the pool of players that come into the nba out of college, i dont think thats any coincidence. the college game doesnt support young players into developing the skills theyre gonna need at the next level. college basketball is and has always been like 15 years behind the nba, other pro leagues actually run nba concepts frequently

He is ready. 1 bad game does not mean you are not ready.

A smart nba will draft him, because they see what he has a floor sense that very few players have. He proved that this year. If we had a coach that watched the tapes of the Oakland team, he would have had a game plan for getting the shooters a good look. All pros have a bad game once in a while. I hope Reed goes pro.

Stay one more year. He will have millions in NIL money. Reed will be the head coach at UK some day. Too bad I won't be around to see it.

He’s a lottery pick for sure. The success of guys like TJ McConnell and Brandon Podzimsky bodes well for Reed’s long term outlook. With teams like the Spurs, Hornets, Heat, Bulls, and Pelicans making up the lottery, I expect one of them to pull the trigger. My outlook for Sheppard is a better shooting and more athletic TJ McConnell from the Indiana Pacers.

How good is Reed shepherd's step back three, jab step and crossover game? before today's NBA teams want players to have those tools in their arsenal.

He could go NBA and be a small fish in a big pond. Or he could stay awhile longer at Kentucky and gain legendary status. It's not like he's hurting for money. He was raised as in a wildcat family and dreamed of playing at UK his whole life. Say what you will... but Ky basketball is a way of life in the bluegrass. I don't think Reed should dissolve that dream for an NBA career that will still be there when he finishes college. His parents have said that his education is a priority, so we shall see.

I think he’s a great player and can play in the NBA but i DO NOT think he’s ready. Plus, he’s a Ky boy that grew up dreaming about the day he brought a National Championship back to Lexington. Not to mention he will step into immortality when he comes back.

All the freshman need to come back. If not they will be in the g-league. Not saying the g-league is bad but that’s not the goal.

He hasn't showed that he's the point guard soo why would an nba team draft him? He's like 6'1 185lbs with a 6'3 wingspan and plays like a wing, that's not going to cut it.

I think he should come back and work on his defense and getting quicker and more experience don't do what ty ty did I said he shouldn't go that he was not quick enough yet and see how that went and Wagner is not fast enough or he can't shoot good enough I hope they don't do like alot of former ky players that I don't no we're there at now. If he couldn’t show up for the 1st round of the tournament, then he won’t be able to show up in the NBA, YET!! I think your employer should make you work 2 years for them before you can go get another job! Why would you subject a grown ass man to a stupid rule you yourself wouldn't abide by? The schools and communities are making millions off these kids. If they want them to stay two years then they need to pay them enough to make it worth their time. If they can make more in college than the pros why go to the NBA. It's that simple. The reason colleges have the problem keeping kids is they still aren't paying them to play the boosters are. The colleges want to keep all of their TV money. That's fine but the boosters need to pay them like a pro and sign them to a 2 year contract and if they leave early they give the money up.

Shepard to Mitchell comp is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. DM has very limited offensive ability. Shepard good defense but does not have the physicality that Mitchell has on D. Without putting a ton of thought into it I'd say RS is more traditional PG in the vain of a Mark Price. Sometimes I wonder if you even watch UK games..

I'm a Vols fan and i like him, i thought he was over hyped by the media at first, he's cold asf, plus he's feisty, if he stayed all 4 years, he would be the greatest UK player ever, the national media already loves him, he's serious, but if he leaves we don't have to deal with him anymore 🤷🏿‍♂️
