This was a good decision on Google's part because it allows Google to focus on itself to improve and become a better company. Google can now still be somewhat connected to its other projects and still be focused on its core services and products.

first rule of doing a good interview is "do a interview" this is a smorgasbord of "yeah" "maybe" "I mean" plus some facts. I had to Google bits and pieces of this to understand anything at.

Alphabet sounds like a company that would take over the world.

Why does everyone in this video have an Apple mac computer?

There is no easier way to understand it than this...imagine you are a profit hungry investor who gives Google 10 dollars for 1 share. Now, previously what would have happened is that you have seen 1 dollar in profit against that share but in your investor report you have been alarmed by the $1B sunk cost of google lens project. You would be pissed because they took your money and invested it in a thing that even didnt generate revenue. By splitting google, you as a conservative investor, now have an opportunity of only investing in google search engine business whereas another investor who is not as risk averse as you are, can his/her luck with other google businesses.

this interview seemed to answer all my questions in the first 4 minutes. the rest is just rehash examples.

I still find it amazing that there was only a 9 year gap between KZread, a revolution in digital video sharing, and SELF-DRIVING CARS. What's next, a flexible, paper thin tablet? I'd expect it by 2020.

It basically seems like the main reason Alphabet exists is for investors and outside money/funds/help. If you invest in Google and do not want to invest in these different future projects, now you can. Likewise, if you want to invest in the other side projects, but not fundamental Google stuff, you can as well

I don't like the whole Alphabet idea. The whole google idea made it seem friendly, and like their whole ecosystem is a big huge family. But with Alphabet, it kind of feels like a giant business for revenue. it feels like projects can't be started within Google anymore.

stock holders own the money o.O you have the potential to put your money on the safe bet of ad revenue or invest in their wild wacky future projects. Google is being subdivided under the umbrella of alphabet. each CEO is their own boss subject to a board but have a mentor through alphabet (the original founders of Google)
