@@ashleytamara2679 Even if that were true, which it isn’t, a losing skid refers to a streak of multiple losses in a row. There was over 5 years and 9 wins between the second Nunes fight and the first Grasso fight. That’s not a “skid” by any definition.

It kinda is unlike when she lost to Amanda and got right back to winning. a few months later.... This time she hasn't had a win since Jun 11 2022...or almost 2 years... Not a career end er by any means what so ever...but def a skid in her career...

I think Valentina is awesome the way she is.

Better opponents and got older. Wear and tear slows down reaction time. Shes still awesome

The only thing that happened to Valentina is age, & her competition got better because they HAD to, to rise to the standard she set, kicking the crap out of everybody...but Amanda. @@DakonBlackblade2 The only legit loss Amanda ever had was to Kat Zingano, & that was about as close to death Amanda has ever come. There's no question she beat Valentina in the 1st fight, but the 2nd figh I felt belonged to Val. It was an amazing fight nonetheless.

I like to use the term Hybrid individual when talking about people well versed in many aspects of life. I am a former professional MMA fighter, martial artist, an engineer, a dancer and a competitive chess player. Valentina is my favorite female fighter because of how amazing she is. She won my heart when I heard he speak Spanish fluently. She is gorgeous and incredibly talented.

One correction: Valentina started out studying TaeKwondo, not Karate. She is currently holds a 2nd dan in Tae Kwon Do, which she started at age 5. When she was 12, she also began studying Muy Thai kickboxing.

She did not lose her last fight.

It's kind of lame that you 'click-bait' the title of this video to give the impression that something untoward happened to Valentina causing her to spiral downhill. It's also too bad that you didn't go into more depth describing her UFC losses because fighting someone bigger isn't easy and if you looked carefully at the second fight with Amanda , Valentina won and the case with the Grasso rematch was the same , Valentina won that one also. I was hoping to hear something further about Grasso having taken PED's for that fight . Despite being treated unfairly, Valentina continues without any complaint like the class athlete she is. I hope she beats Grasso the third time and retires and goes on to be Jane Bond in the movies. She would be very successful . She is one of the greatest fighters to ever perform in the Octagon and a credit to the sport.

I thought so too. I didn't like either of the decisions vs nunes. I thought the 1st fight was pretty clear she won. 2nd fight was closer, I don't feel she lost.

Thank you - a small but relevant point of correction I believe: Through her mum, Valentina initially started in 'Tae Kwon Do' (ITF) - not 'Karate'. You can see it written on the uniform she was wearing in the video also.

One loss is not a losing skid. I know MMA is popular so everyone is jumping on board but we really need to understand the definition of the terms prior to making any videos on MMA. I see a lot of videos where someone is giving their opinion about a fighter and cannot even pronounce their name correctly. It's imperative to be fluent in the language of MMA before critiquing it.

Why isn't she in movies? Seems like a no-brainer.

her mother didn´t train them in Karate, but in TKD - and what happened to her is that she didn´t change her fight-game, that´s why Alexa could defeat her in their 1st fight, while she actually lost the 2nd + got the W just by mexican national day

Karate was banned in the Soviet Union? Which nation collapsed in 1991. When Valentina was 3. I doubt she ever had trouble training.

Shes just a loaf of bread,but in her mind shes a brioche.....she hates how other fighters that she sees as " lesser fighters " can get more attention then her fights ( zhang comes to mind )

So what really happened to her? I'm feeling like i was fooled by the headline into watching this video. There's nothing here to answer that question.

She will get it back she beat Alexa Grasso in the rematch dominately. She won the first round, she was winning the second round before she lost balance and Alexa had a knockdown. Alexa Grasso didn't knock down Valentina Shevchenko it was just lost of balance not by Alexa Punch. Valentina beat the shit out of Alexa. Valentina Shevchenko decided to box with Grasso and outboxed her big her. If Valentina Shevchenko decides to use high and low kicks she would cripple Grasso, u don't know why she decided not to throw much kick Against Grasso, she decided to go to boxing primarily

She never did any karate,the video clearly shows ITF tkd which was in the Soviet union from the early 80s and certainly not banned,she was a very successfully tkd black belt before muay thai

She did different styles of karate when she was a teenager,not sure the videos are on the Internet she did judo and has a black belt in judo as well but you can't find any of her judo fight online because it more then two decades

I hate the fact that the phrase, "The Greatest" keeps being thrown around. There's no such thing as "The Greatest." Champions come and go. It's what keeps combat sports relevant. No one stays the champion for ever, even those who decide to retire while they happen to hold the championship belt. As for Valentina Shevchenko, she's in the beginning stages of her "Gate-Keeper" stage of her fighting career whether she admits it or not. This in no way means she's no longer a damn good fighter anymore. It just means that champions come and go and she's on her way out.

32 is very young for an athlete, it has nothing to do with her age at all.

She isnt personable. Like most Russians and Khabib types, no charisma and I am sure Dana would rather have more Rhonda Rouseys and McGregor's than any more Valentina's or Khabibs. Boring.

Wrong. She’s been in martial arts competitions since she was 5 years old. She’s in her late thirties now and yet at the top of the heap. Can the woman have a life outside of the sport while she maintains a competitive career. She’s a good person inside and out. She’s due some praise, not criticism.

I highly doubt there was any political agenda or nationality. Im mexican american but was raised both in mexico and the u.s. i can say we are very patriotic but never to the level of cheating.
