what really happened in timor-leste?
I boarded my flight to Dili, the capital city of East Timor with an open heart and no idea what to expect. What I found was a land of resilience and warmth. The people of East Timor, enduring a history of colonization and conflict, welcomed me with open arms, teaching me lessons of strength and hope.
Timor-Leste, as locals call it, became independent in 2002, making it one of Asia's youngest countries. I was unaware of its tumultuous history until I met my new friend Ellie, who works at the Centro Nacional Chega, a museum that narrates the country's past struggles and resilience.
This video is my attempt to convey the spirit of East Timor and its people-a story of resilience and a nation's journey toward healing and growth :)

Hi Maria! Thank you so much for your feedback! As I mentioned in the video, this is simply my attempt to capture some moments in this very special place. I’d never claim to produce wholly accurate historical content, I hope you understand 🤗
