@@majakofoed3721 because unless you have more idea of curly hair you shouldn’t speak on it. It’s so obvious she doesn’t. “Don’t brush your hair it causes frizz” yes that’s one bit there is a million reasons why hair is frizzy and she just said the most popular obvious one. She probably has wavy hair, I don’t think she has straight hair. Straight hair population is only 3%.

Tima but it does not cause any harm to say it again? And she mentioned multiple factors, the brushing was just directed expecially towards people with curly hair. And, people can obviosly see that she does not have curly hair herself. So if They belive that that makes her untrust worthy, They can just find a creator with curly hair?

It’s so interesting to hear people talk about “pH balance“ hair products again. As a Child in the 60s and 70s my mom brought home a gallon of shampoo that was highly concentrated. A gallon lasted my family of four females and one male for well over a year. My mom had Color treated, graying hair, my youngest sister extremely wavy hair, middle sister curly hair, and I had a long wavy hair. The pH balanced shampoo we used worked well on all of our hair types. Today, several decades later, I use Ethique anti-frizz bar and conditioning bar. Before I get in the shower and wash my hair I coat the ends of my waist length hair with argan oil before shampooing. After rinsing, I wrap my hair in a microfiber towel to remove excess moisture. I then add a few drops of Argan oil again to the ends of my hair and a couple drops of Chia oil. I then apply (just started using) Redken acidic perfecting concentrate and comb through with a very wide tooth comb. Sometimes I let it air dry other times I blow dry my hair. To combat frizz after my hair is dry I use 100% plant derived squalane. I use it throughout the week to keep the frizz down. I live on the California coast two blocks from the ocean so there is plenty of moisture in the air. If you care about the environment and you don’t want cabinets full of plastic and all the wasted dollars that is products consume, keep it simple. I wholeheartedly embrace using a chlorine filter on the showerhead… It truly is a game changer!❤️

I’m about your age I guess and yeah I do remember pH balanced being a thing. Question where did you buy your Argan oil. I just realized the 100%cold pressed Argan oil I bought wasn’t really Argan oil at all. It’s by Cliganic. Pure Argan oil is supposed to have a nutty scent and it’s supposed to have a bit of sediment also absorb into the skin. Mine had none of it. I’ll use it for something though. Thank you

Hi! I hope you still read these comments.... I just watched your "Week long hair vlog" from June 1st, very informative content, and just wanted to mention something, I'm not sure whether someone has mentioned before....Wearing your hair down during a workout is also adding extra damage to your ends. Firstly, the friction of the strands against themselves from the movement while you run/move; secondly, the wind adds to this friction as well; and thirdly, sweat is very drying to your ends. So, by wearing your hair in a style that allows the hair to move freely (and come into contact with sweat), it aggravates the knotting and drying of your hair, this was seen and mentioned by you in that video. Personally, when I run, my go to style is a topknot (I gather the hair on top of my head, pull through into a half-bun and twist the remaining hair around the half-bun and tuck into the scrunchie), after my run is complete I will take it out of this style as I, too, don't like keeping my hair tied up for too long. My hair is a bit longer than yours and of similar density and texture and this is the only style (other than a braid) that keeps my hair secure for the entirety of my workout whilst protecting my hair and, surprisingly, the style. Also, on a side note, you should research how allowing your hair to get greasy affects your scalp health. The grease that collects throughout your week of not washing contains a lot more dirt than you might realize (sweat, natural sebum, product/dry shampoo buildup, environmental pollution, dust or anything that could be in your bed). All of these can actually block the pores on your scalp and affect the health thereof. Just compare your scalp to your facial skin, would you just apply a drying powder to your face when it gets too oily? This buildup, and blocking of the follicles, can actually increase the fallout of hair and stunt growth, even if it is just for a week. A general rule of thumb is to listen to your hair and wash it when it gets greasy, for me that takes around 5 days. Many people consider washing your hair too often to be damaging or drying, when in actual fact, if you use the right products, it can be beneficial. Many products contain nutrients that feed the hair and scalp. Hair health is very dependent on your diet - hair and nails are the last areas that your body provides nutrients to, as these are seen to be the least important of your body; if you don't eat enough of the required nutrients (such as protein and iron, etc.), there is none/ too little left to actually be used for your hair and nails. That is why these products/ingredients exist for hair - to try and add these back into the hair.

I have naturally curly hair, and I live in Austin where’s its very humid. I avoid products with glycerin-which is really hard to do, it’s in everything. I also do a gel cast to air dry so that it seals out humidify. I then scrunch out the cast when it’s dry. I get way less frizz with the gel cast method.

I would say brushing through curly hair the cause of the frizz is not the tension and force because you can gently very slowly brush it out. It's the fact you are separating the curl pattern and the volume of hair increases so the hairs won't sit with eachother but all separated.

Excellent content 👍 I'd like to add few things re shampooing, conditioning and brushing, which proved to work for me and may help somebody else 😊 Shampoos - there are good shampoos out there without any sulfate... ingredients, doing an excellent job of cleansing the scalp (because that is what shampoos do). Even deep cleansing and chelating shampoos can have no sulfate... ingredients. I.e. sulfates are not required for a proper cleanse. Conditioners - do a deep moisturizing conditioner every now and again (how often depending on level of damage). If consistent it'll make wonders for the hair over time, including frizz management. Brushing - you should never ever yank the brush. Start from the ends and work your way up. When wet, brush your hair only when you have the conditioner in, not wet before shampooing, not wet after shampooing and before conditioner but wet after shampooing and applying conditioner, before rinsing it out. Extra tip - look for humidity blocking styling products 😉

I really like Aquage Silkening Oil Foam - definitely helps with frizz. I also mainly use deep conditioner when I condition. I recently started using Amika Flash Mask after regular conditioner and that helps as well. I'm currently on vacation in Florida and just putting my hair back in a ponytail. Leaving it down while walking around all day in humidity and rain, yeah, good hair days not happening at all.

something I didn't hear you mention is that hormones also cause frizzy hair. My hair used to be stick straight, would lose a curl in 30 minutes, and then after a pregnancy, BAM! Frizzy hair. It had nothing to do with hard water, shampoo, conditioner, pillowcases, or humidity.

Tbh I'm sort of confused how this happens. Did you frizzier hair come in the form of new growth? Or did the hair you've had for multiple years (towards the ends) also become frizzy? Some people say their hair became curly after a hormonal shift, I'm curious if all the hair does that or if the old hair stays straight.

I recently switched from my regular hair towel to a microfibre one and I haven't noticed much difference in frizz if any at all. Doesn't dry my hair any quicker either. only benefit is it feels WAY lighter on my head than a regular towel. I wonder if the t shirt towel would be worth it for me

Just found your site. I didn’t have any product handy today, so grabbed my sweet almond oil (that I cover my face at night) after I used the terrific conditioner that comes with my hair color. The almond oil was a temp measure but did a pretty good job holding the frizz at bay. I have wavy/ curly hair so didn’t blow dry just air dried this time. Normally I use a diffuser and always leave it slightly damp. Once a week I do a deep conditioning treatment.

Let it good while letting us know what you keep and what you say bye bye to. Ps I live in NYC and looked up the water PH =7.2 ✅️ no wonder friends who moved upstate or outside of NYC have a hard time adjusting. They complain a lot about their hair.

Am surprised or hear that Minnesota has bad humidity. I thought it was a southern thing. Until I started watching your videos, I used braids to control my frizz. Lol. Using some of your suggestions for damaged hair, like getting a hard water filter, fixing some over protein, which I had never heard of u til watching you, and your recommendations for shampoo and conditioner. I have invested sooo much money on products that say they fight the frizz that never worked. The filter and low ph balance shampoo worked better than any of the products. Wish I had found you years ago.

Thank you Abbey for this video! Great content as usual ☺️ I used to have wavy hair with some curls but now my hair just loses all the curls once just few hours after showering no matter what I use, and it turns into a big ball of frizz. I’ll try to use some of the products you mentioned and I hope they work for me🤞 If you can make more videos about wavy/curly hair and different hair types that would be very helpful!

I live in South Texas- which is the most humid part of the US - & I'd the hottest state of all the states that get humidity. I'm a wavy type 2 (mostly A). This past year I've adopted some of the Curly Girl Method of hair care's advice:. I've sworn off heat styling (air drying only right now), rarely use a product with non-water soluble silicones (like is in many of the products you've just recommended - as it's a huge culprit of drying hair out in curly, waves, coarse, or porous hair), & I only use products with nws silicones in it if I plan to do a clarifying wash the next full wash day, use sulfate shampoos only for clarifying & always followed by a deep conditioning treatment, use curl creams & natural gels to set waves & prevent frizz, I do not touch my hair until fully dry, & once dry fluff out with my hands by scrunching & light finger combing, never dry brush - but if I do have to detangle dry & need more than my fingers I use a VERY WIDE toothed shower comb.

I have naturally curly hair (for 61 years) and have never been able to manage frizz…until I got the Smooth Booster from Beauty Pie. I swear by it. Their Volume Booster makes me look like I have more hair but doesn’t dry out or cause heaviness, stiffness or stickiness. Both Boosters make my hair feel like I applied nothing to it. I even use them together.
