I've noticed my 6.5 Grendel 100gr ELD-VT factory ammo groups very tight in the vertical at 1000yds. It printed a really nice waterline on the large gong at 1000yds.

You use a bolt gun or gas gun 6.5 Grendel? I have both and was thinking about trying out the 100gr ELD-VT bullets and working up loads for them. What kind of velocity are you seeing and with what barrel lengths?

@@DanielReyes-hz1qk Multiple gas guns from 22" down to 8.5", have only shot it in the 17.6" Lilja so far, haven't chrono'd it. I ran a conversion program to estimate my mv based on my exact drop at 1000yds, which was 10.8 mils. I'll have to try it in the 12" Grendel. Based on Hodgdon's data, we should be able to get it going 2900fps from a 24" with LVR or CFE223. For me, this load is kinda a 6mm killer.

​@@LRRPFco52Nice! I've got a 23" Lilja barrelled 6.5 Grendel AR, and one of my primary loads is a 95gr V-Max at 2900fps with 8208XBR. Haven't shot it passed 400 yards though

I'm going to have to go home and look at some of my bullets, I don't recall noticing this before....

It's a very subtle change. You'll have to find some bullets made pre-2019-2020 to get a fair comparison.

Same. I've bought 178 and 208 eldm this years and I haven't noticed this.

Ahhh, explains my findings. All my 6.5mm ELD-Ms are pointed, but they're all pre pandemic. I'm pretty sure I would've noticed flats on them. Maybe my next batches will be the newer models

Ok so the bullets and ammo that I have already have this "DVRT" ?

While DVRT was patent pending, it was implemented into all bullets using the Heat Shield Tip and the A-Tip Match bullet. So, shooters quietly benefited from this design for several years. Now, with the patent issued, we can publish the science and benefits of Drag Variability Reduction Technology. If your bullets and ammo were made in the last 4 years or so they already have it. It's a subtle difference and the flat is very narrow, but it's there.

Comes out with new technology that will make your bullets better... oh wait you already have it... so nothing is better. lmao
