I spent 20 years as an Engineer/Producer. This is a. Great video. Don’t buy one more plug in until you take a course. This gentlemen is telling the truth. Take his course. A great engineer can do a lot with very little. But a poor engineer can have a full tool box and do very little. Take his course. Invest in yourself.

Until you master a single plugin, don't invest in 20 other plugins of the same type thinking the new plugin will be the "magic sauce" that will propell you to excellence because it will never happen, and you wonder why you can't get the same results as Super Producer X.

Right now i am at the first half of the course and it has already improved my mixing skills dramatically, Andrew teaches you how to think as a real audio engineer, to make your own decisions not based in other people´s presets or thoughts, he teaches you all the nuances, things i never realized before, and his program includes stuff you dont find in any other course, like very deep integration with SSL gear and plugins. The program its very complete, i have friends who are attending courses at university, 20 times more expensive and still they tell me they dont learn as much as Andrew teaches you. Also you have homeworks and you can make questions in real time, Its the best course i have ever made.

Hi Sir, once again thank you for the pearls you share with us, it`s very sad that some think this is a advertising gimmick, but being a current student in the 4th month of this course, I`m really honored to have you as my instructor. I can speak a volume here, but that would still not be enough, for the wisdom that you share regarding this craft, sound engineering has never been the same after joining you, I`ve sailed the internet for advice n stuff for over a decade now, but today its been months now iv`e never watched a KZread video again on the topic. You are an unbelievable , skilled and patient teacher, you`ve made me realise the bullshit iv`e been programming my mind with, every second that i spend with you on the course makes waking up at 5 am worth it, your extra ordinary skills and insights have taken my learning to a different level, a big thank you to you, as i accidentally stumbled on your channel, cleared my doubts after taking the first initial free class on this course, I had to even wait for months before you could give me a slot, but there`s no turning back now, I really marvel at your patience when you teach us, you never care about the time of the classes, a 1 hour class for 2 and a half hours sometimes, lol!!!!! sometimes even i get restless but you make sure you finished what you started, I`m really blown away by the way you have put all this together, everything you say herein is the truth, can`t wait to finish this course as a proud student and apply all this knowledge. thanks and cheers Sir Andrew

In reality, no plugin can create an expensive mix and master; only skill can get you there. Any plugin is just a tool or paintbrush in the hand of a great artist. However, some plugins sound fantastic to the ears (good program coding), whether they are criticized or praised by the majority-in fact, a 30-year-old plugin can sound fantastic in the hands of an artist. When combined with softube CLIB, BPB Dirty LA sounds incredible. BPB DIRTY LA is my first comp... I've used it in both live and acoustic performances. We can't deny that we can make beautiful music with them. But it was us who failed to achieve what we desired in our mixes, not a plugin. I am a 40-year-old mastering engineer, and I never underestimate a plugin by its usage. A plugin's contribution to music is based on correct math, ears, and science. The wrong use of it will destroy your mix.

I was talking about reviews in words on websites where they sell plugins. Also, I don't see Chris Lord-Alge or Andy Wallece reviewing plugins. Not sure what famous guys you mean who review plugins in videos :) But ok. let's pretend that some "Chris Lord-Alge" reviews a plugin in a video. The point was every waveform requires its own tool. In one project on X sound it works. In the other project on Z it doesn't work. Nobody show you many situations and they don't show you where it doesn't work. Also whet you hear on youtube is not compared to anything like perfect reference. SO what they show you can be totally awful sound. But as you said even this sound nobody listens to.

Indeed, knowing how to use a plugin, the differences even of very similar plugins and how they apply to perceived objectives, is more valuable than quantity of plugins. That said, I suffer Plugin acquisition syndrome. As you stated, the same Plugin used in two different songs will give different results depending on source material. Plugins are tools, much like a brush painting a canvas.

If you make a plugin comparison, consider Overloud, Black Rooster, Dynamics by Sonnox (ex-Sony Oxford, the compressor is modelled after the 1176, I think) and the Purple Audio MC77 by Plugin-Alliance (a boutique 1176) and Elysia Mpressor also by Plugin-Alliance, Eventide Omnipressor. Overloud is getting some attention for their quality, yet they are nowhere as well known as household names. Black Rooster are still even more unknown. Sonnox Dynamics would be interesting not only for its qualities but also might proof a point you are making in this video: A new plug-in is not necessarily better than an older plug-in. The Sonnox Dynamics plug-in has not been changed since it was developed in the early 1990ies as far as I know. ... And the Elysia Mpressor and Eventide Omnipressor are both pretty unique in their functionality. I get your irritation with plug-in marketing being simplicistic. I think, that the developers know full well that its BS but they decide to use BS marketing anyway as it caters to how many buyers think.

@@AndrewZeleno1 It is understandable though that the marketing department and management decide to do whatever sells. It is not cool but more critically thinking people can try the demo and compare. Lazy people pay for the best looking GUI ;) That said, I think what makes people fall for the marketing promises is that they know that they dont understand the complex mixing process and they think they cannot learn it (which is most likely wrong in most cases), so they hope for a magic tool that is easy and somehow works -without them having to learn. That is how people think. It is not unique to music producers. And again, these companies want to sell, so they tell people what they want to hear. It is not worth getting agitated about. But is very cool that there are people like you who make people aware that there is no magic plug-in that makes them superproducers without having to put in some work. Even the new AI based plug-ins like Gullfoss, the plug-ins by Sonible or iZotopes Neutron may help a bit but certainly cant replace know how. I watched a couple of your videos today and what I got from it is that for the first time I see what actually to listen for and how one can get better with mixing, rather than endless trial and error. Thank you for that :)
