I'm curious. People make it seem like RWBY is the only fantasy fiction story where magic and sickness existed in the same world. Didn't many people die in LOTR and Harry Potter? Why didn't they just heal them with magic then?

@@MewDenise Rwby now in present time doesn't have magic anymore-simply aura to shield them. I can't say for LOTR because I haven't read it, but in Harry Potter people would die from an instant death curse or go to a Healer(wizard doctor). Potions and spells could be used in treatment.

@@MewDenise Yes, people died in LOTR and Harry Potter. Although it is important to point out that many of the plagues that ravaged Middle-Earth were in some way related to Sauron, so they were magical in nature. I do not remember the elves getting sick, though. However, it is reasonable to assume that many still suffered from more "mundane" diseases seeing that most human civilizations were not that advanced medically and did not have much magic. Gondor itself was already in decline regarding "magical cures" by the time of LOTR. In the case of Harry Potter, I can only recall a disease called Dragon Pox - fatal in older wizards and witches but apparently more mellow with younger ones. There may be more. Although it is important to point out that the wizarding world apparently is not familiar with muggle treatments, seeing that Mr. Weasley and a healer (wizard doctor) were experimenting with the concept of vaccines in book 5.

Personally, I think he was a moron for ruining his own life and up to then happy marriage over a disagreement. Salem, in a roundabout way, was already doing his job for him. If, after achieving world domination, she had gone off to the deep end, humanity would have been brought together by their shared hatred of her. He'd just have had to gather all the relics before they started bickering among themselves again.

@@weberman173 True but conquering the world lets you make it better much faster. As an immortal it makes the most sense if you can do it. After everyone is doing what you say, you can build a better world. Teach everyone to get along and raise future generations. Eventually they will not need your guidance, if you do it right atleast. Salem might have become a problem but she wasn't one yet. Ozpin was not the greatest mind in all the land, he was its greatest hero and warrior.

The fact he hasn't utterly given up by now is both awe inspiring and a gut punch when you realize how many people he's cared about who have died, been killed in the war with Salem, or betrayed him.

Can you really blame them, though? The God of Light basically told Salem that All Things Must Die. Salem couldn't accept that and went to the God of Darkness. She never told him she had already tried to ask his brother, as she knew he would not help her if she did. Salem was at fault for not listening when the God of Light told that he could not disturb the balance of life and death just to make a single person happy. If he had, how many more would have gone asking him to bring their long dead loved ones back, citing the fact that he had done it for Salem?

@@CryoJnik Its not really about blame as much as the gods being wrong. They have a lot to learn about humanity before they can get this right and i hope the next planet is doing better. They lack so much that they would see nothing wrong with punishing someone for an act of grief. Salem did things that were wrong but the gods were far worse in that regard. Ozpin was about as bad as Salem in the end, maybe a little less so depending on how you grade it. The gods however were equally problematic in how they handled humanity. They are in fact rather "childish". The gods did not need to escalate but they chose to and made everything so much worse. If this ends up getting them killed they have only themselves to fault. Being a god does not make what they did ok. They did not have to grant her anything but they should have taken no action at all. She would grieve and maybe kill herself but she would pass and things would be fine. The gods do not truly understand what they are doing and seem to not care to find out. Likely because they "know better" and don't need to concern themselves with finding out.

Ehhhh I think Oz had a hand in her final mission. vol 3 ep 12 Salem stated ‘And when they fail and you turn to your smaller soul, know that you send her to the same pitiful demise.’ So that tells me Summer possibly was sent to fight salem. Then again vol 5 ep 14 when Yang and Raven were arguing Yang pointed Raven killed the Spring Maiden and asked ‘did you kill her too?’ So again I’m thinking Raven had a hand in Sunmer’s death

I’ve noticed that most of Ozpin’s incarnations have had dark skin, dark hair, a voice similar to his original body or a certain combination of those characteristics. I’ve got a feeling Oscar is probably his final reincarnation based on how long he’s been needing to come back.

@5:45 That 'old and wise' man was theorized to be a machiavellian manipulator, doing everything in his power to get people to do as he wanted them to while believing it was their idea. He called it 'The Greater Good', which translated to 'what I wanted to happen to benefit myself'. Can't blame that 'Gay' part. That was all him, Respect to him though. Not many would be that comfortable with it. LOLZ!!!

Honestly, I feel bad for Salem. The God of Light called her arrogant because she wanted her lover back. Instead of grief (somehow), he saw arrogance. He has a very warped definition of arrogance.

Her arrogance came from demanding him back. She didn't care what Ozma wanted, she cared about what she wanted. She has the right to grieve but everything she does after the God of Light telling her no the first time is her own inability to accept that she can't have what she wants. The real problem is that she saw Ozma as her freedom, so when he died, then she was just going back to that tower.

But loved the FMAB music in this. I actually though of one of my characters having the god of lights powers letting his opponents go back to their homes if they were heroes and in death battle
