Nearly crashed into the side of a car today. Was approaching an intersection so let go of the gas, and anticipated the possibilty of cars not seeing me, exactly like you keep saying in your videos. One lady, who I saw look at me, decided to cross last minute. Let's just say I'm very glad to have taken extra lessons in emergency manoeuvres and braking, cause I stopped just in time applying emergengy braking.

I used to ride very differently when I had a pillion passenger to when I was riding solo, however I did take a few girls who really wanted to go fast, which is fine so long as they really want to and asked, I also took quite a few girls who had been out once before with a boyfriend who had ridden like a complete knob and terrified them, so I considered it was my job was to show them a nice safe enjoyable ride, and it worked a treat.

Felt so bad for that poor girl on the back of the bike. Parents, teach your kids not to ride passenger. If I was that girls father I’d be horrified at the disregard that man had for her life. Don’t ride passenger. Get your own bike instead, it’s more fun anyways!

I mean this is not "being a passenger" fault, its "being a passenger to an a hole". No gear, stupid high speed in traffic for no real reason, when she clearly did not want to, and he is making fun of her. What a wanker. Same with being a passenger to a bad driver, I don't ride with bad drivers and would never sit behind someone like this...

These road rage riders take something as wonderful as riding a motorcycle. It's freedom and the sensation of flying... and they poison all of the greatness of it by riding angry. It's like they aren't happy unless they're mad. That's an oxymoron by the way. Also, each failed attempt to show your fellow man generosity is a lost opportunity. Well Dan you have the correct mindset and I hope some of these angry riders learn a little kindness from y'all!

A young person just passed me on the101 south bound around the curve heading for Bell Road South bound. He/she was in the HOV lane. I was doing about 70. This screaming sport bike flew past me probably in the140-150 MPH area. My morbid curiosity made me want to follow that bike just to see how far the body parts would scatter down the highway. As a retired firefighter from Phoenix I've seen more than my share of this carnage, as have you. I'm also a life long bike rider who started in high school the age of 14 on a H-D 165 Hummer. Since then I've had 22 bikes of all kinds. I still ride (2007 1200 Sportster) and I'll be 80 in three months. God bless you for what you do for today's riders. In the 50's and 60's they sold you a motorcycle wished you good luck. (Real Men rode bikes with kick starters) I lost a few classmates between 1958 and 1962. H-D Hummers, Cushmans, Vespas, Lambrettas, BSA Bantams, Triumph Tiger Cubs, Whizzer motor bikes, Mustangs.

That overtaking and not really caring about oncoming traffic (in clip #2) is quite the common scenario on long, straight wide roads, at least here in Slovakia and Czech Republic. I had the same situation two days ago (2024-06-28) while taking a small detour through CZ. As I've been riding for 15 years, I took it calmly as ""just another occurence", put myself well out of the way of those drivers, slowed down a bit and my only outward reaction was tapping my forehead. However my GF (sitting behind me) was quite stressed out by the mere fact that, as she put it "they may have killed us but still didn't care enough to slow down and get back to their lane - and nobody else in that lane made it possible for them either", which was a terrifyingly valid point. Yeah, those situation are dangerous NOT only because of the oncoming traffic, but also due to the fact, that those drivers MAY NOT have been given a chance to get back into their lane, once they spotted me on the horizon.

4:14 it does happen, it happened to me the other day, similar highway, I see a car pass against traffic, so I slow down and get far over, but in my case I had a car and truck in front of me that would take the hit first. It's a highway locally with a reputation for head on accidents from passing attempts. It's only a 10 mile stretch of highway, just be patient! Passing at best will gain you 30 seconds, but could cost forever.

Ask the mechanic what exactly went wrong, and what they did to fix it. Learn how the throttle and cable work (mechanically). Most situations I can handle with very calm, giggly behavior accept for one. Every once in a while there is a small, impatient car hiding behind a larger truck driving slower on back roads which typically bend and wind where I ride. These cars ride very close to the truck and then decide to just POP out as Im going by. Luckily the last 2 times I had this happen they did a quick peekaboo but managed to cross the yellow line and see me. Those moments kind of bother me.

Dan, in the video section starting at 3:02 I am confused. To me this looks like it was taken in the USA. I say this due to the type and size of vehicles. It looks like the rider is traveling in the wrong direction on a divided highway. I say this due to the yellow line to the left of the rider. The other lines are white. This is what a rider headed in the wrong direction on a divided highway in the USA would see. That is if the highway markings are done correctly. Please check the location of this segment.

I can not believe that these riders video themselves and most of them are driving like a total idiot and put themselves in bad situations then complain about the other guy. Life is not a video game and the streets are not your personal playground. The cars have just as much right on the roads as you. Ducking, dodging weaving, speeding in and out from one lane to another, zig-zagging... and the stupidest of all, lane splitting. Your asking to die. Very few of these incidents are caused by the car motorists. If I did something totally stupid and jackass like and cause it on video, I would delete and deny it. Not post it on social media, like look how I was wronged.

So, if we are taking about techniques to improve safety on a motorcycle, we should discuss more about keeping our cool and just let it go. The chances of escalation for road rage will diminish incredibly and we could focus more on braking, swerving, mental sanity and to get home to ride another day. Some riders have an ego so fragile that creates a lot of situations that create more danger. To those riders, please go ride in a third world country and the perspective will change forever.

If everyone obeyed the road rules, especially speed and spacing, there would be almost no accidents!!! An unpopular option for most road users!!! Driving and riding and trucking is serious business!!! It is not meant to be fun!!! Also an unpopular option for most road users!! Your JOB when on any road is to protect the rear of the vehicle in front of you, thereby protecting the front of your vehicle and the soft squishy flesh you live in.
