    I'm big on making "memories" with our kiddos, so a great way to do that was getting the 3-day photo package for $89. Also, if you pay using an American Express card with proof (receipt), you get an extra 5x7 or 8x10 print. The photo package is pretty awesome but only if you use the "on site" photographers at the entrance, with characters, Dark Room Photo Studio, ride photos, etc. There's lots of opportunities. We weren't able to fit all the photo opportunities in 3days but the cost was still worth it. You get to keep all the digital photos, got to download them all within a certain amount of days.

    The biggest problem we ran into while we were in the parks is not planning our meals out and where we wanted to eat very well. A few times we found ourselves starving and running around all over the park trying to find a place that had things we could eat. A few of the places we wanted to go were at capacity during busy times (like Leaky Cauldron breakfast) and we had to come up with a plan B. Everyone was cranky and hangry and yelling at each other. 🤣 So my advice is to research the dining options, their menus, and know exactly where they are in the parks, especially if you’ve got dietary restrictions.

I think y'all are going to save me tons of money, as we just compared a vacation package with 3 day tickets and a premier hotel stay to buying annual passes and getting the annual passholder discount on the separately booked hotel stay, so yay! I was just wanting to make sure before I book, but does the early park admission come included with the premier hotel stay if I buy Power passes, or would I need to upgrade to preferred annual passes to be able to get early park admission (only concerned with while we're staying at the premier hotels, not the rest of the year or anything)?

    I always stay at the Holiday Inn Express Nearest Universal and it really is like two blocks away from the resort, the distance to the parks from that hotel and from Surfside Inn and Suites is basically the same. Universal Hotels include early access, which is admittedly a huge pro, but they don't include breakfast (you either have to pay for expensive breakfasts inside or leave the hotel to hunt for something to eat). Holiday Inn Express includes a buffet breakfast and is a couple of dollars cheaper per night. It honestly has anything you could need and transportation is also free to and from the parks (granted, the last bus back to the hotel leaves at around 7:00 pm sharp so you don't get to ride many coasters at night).

  • @ThePughTwo

    @ThePughTwo

    The limitations on transportation and the lack of early park admission is really our biggest knock on the hotels that are so close to the resort. We’ve done it before and honestly just regretted it! But with that being said, we’re not breakfast people usually so that’s not an issue for us. You just have to find what works for you!

    The Universal resorts are incredible and competitive. The guaranteed admission is huge. When the parks reach capacity and you stay offsite, you just wasted your money on a vaca. The annual pass is incredible if you plan on visiting for multiple days. The premium hotels are a great way to get Express passes if you have multiple people in your group. We haven't nailed a great price yet for the top hotel rooms but I will keep looking. The packages can save big money if you watch for the perfect deal.

    I think another good tip, a minor tip but still good, make a reservation if you plan on dining at one of the big restaurants on City walk. This really depends on when you go like holidays, peak season, even weekends. We went last month and couldn’t walk into a restaurant or even be put on a wait list because they were booked full. Fast food, hotel restaurants, and in park dining are available but expect long waits. UPDATE!! I have family down there right now, it’s a Wednesday.. you’ll need a reservation for almost everyday

    Thank you for the great tips. We are planning to take our teenagers 16 and 18 to Florida for Disney World and Universal. We are from Los Angeles... therefore, we would like to visit parks that are unique to us. Questions: (1) Where should we book our hotel - on site hotel at Universal or Disney World? (2) How many days should we spend in the parks? (3) What kind of tickets would you suggest us to purchase?

  • @ThePughTwo

    @ThePughTwo

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Claire! Sounds like an amazing trip! As far as the questions go 1. That is really a personal preference! We aren’t that familiar with staying at Disney, so we would always say Universal (for us) haha. Universals premier hotels offer free express passes for everyone in the room, so there is the biggest argument for staying there at least while you are at those parks. At lot of people stay at Universal while there and at a Disney hotel while there! 2. Also personal but we can help with the Universal side of it. At UOR we typically recommend at least 1 day per park. So if you are wanting to do Volcano Bay as well, we’d say 3 days at Uni minimal. Disney is a different beast and we would feel like it was doing a disservice to suggest much there! 3. This will kind of depend on number 2. There comes a point where it makes more sense to purchase an annual pass than to buy tickets. What the threshold is will depend on when you are coming, how much you spend in the parks, and where you stay. If you figure out how many days you are staying at UNI we can help you with this question much much better!

With my annual pass do I still have to purchase a ticket? And can I get a discount on everyone else’s tickets? Or does it make sense to get passes for everyone? Still trying to understand how to use my annual pass towards the admission to Universal. Our family had planned on going back this July. BUT....the crowds already look INSANE...so we are going in October. How would you say the crowds look in October? I know that’s when the park has Halloween Horror nights. My oldest doesn’t really like a lot of Halloween related scary things so to speak lol. Does the Halloween happen only at a certain time of the day or do zombies pass you up as your going to your next ride? Sorry for the lengthy comment lol. Thanks 😊

    Hey Brittany! Thank you so much for the support. You do not have to purchase tickets now that you have an annual pass. That will get you in whenever you want to go. It will also get you discounts on other peoples tickets as well. As far as should other people get the annual pass, the answer is it depends. We would suggest looking at how many days you plan on going, looking at that price of tickets and then comparing them to different levels of annual passes. Also keep in mind that the annual pass gets you into the parks for a full year, so if you plan on going multiple times, that’s a place you can save a lot of money. We LOVE going during October. We are huge Halloween people and we love Halloween Horror Nights. That event is a separately ticketed event so no you won’t have to worry about scares or whatnot happening in the parks during normal operations! Don’t apologize, we love chatting with our viewers!

    I have a question about Annual passes. I understand the black out dates, however, can I use my annual pass discount on hotels, food, merch etc in the blackout dates?

  • @ThePughTwo

    So the passes that have blockout dates don't get you discounts on the food or merch. And we're not sure if they would let you book a hotel at the passholder rate during blockout dates.. but there wouldn't really be a point because you couldn't visit the parks!

    My sister and I are planning to go next year around October. Our main attraction is the wizarding world of Harry Potter. Is it better to just get the vacation package or buy things separate? (Were planning a 2 day trip for the parks specifically.) also, what’s the crowd percentage for October in your experience?

  • @ThePughTwo

    October isn’t one of the busier times. If you want to get a better idea of crowd levels, we suggest looking at the Orlando Informer crowd calendar! As far as the packages go, you just have to price it out both ways and compare. Sometimes they save you money, but sometimes they don’t! If you have any other questions we’d be happy to help!

    I was wondering if you get a deluxe room and check in is later. Can you still get the express passes before your check in time?

    Thank you so much for those information. So helpful for my trip in September. Silly question. Annual pass count whole year from the time we buy or count from beginning to the end off that year? Please help me that question. Thank you.

    Annual passes are good for a 12 month period starting from the first day you use it to enter the parks! The only exception is the military freedom pass which is good for a calendar year.

    Would you recommend buying express passes in advance if you’re visiting on a holiday? My family will be in the parks on Labor Day, so we bought passes in advance.

    Absolutely! Purchasing them in advance will save you time once you get to the resort. Your passes aren’t activated until you use them the first time, so there’s really no downside to buying them ahead of time!

    I love, love your videos!!! I am taking my mother for the first time next month. I am planning on making restaurants reservations, do you have any recommendations?

    Thank you!! We hope you have such a great time on your trip! As for restaurants, we have several recommendations. In Citywalk, we love Cowfish, Antojitos, NBC Sports Grill, and Toothsome's. You really can't go wrong with any of the Citywalk restaurants. Inside the parks, Mythos and Finnegans are good sit down restaurants. For quick service we highly recommend the Crepes, Green Eggs & Ham, Louie's Pizza, and the Jacket Potatoes. I could go on and on about great food options at the resort!

    @@Dianitawh without seeing the cup we couldn’t say for sure! The refillable cups that we buy look like a Tervis style cup!

    I have a question you stated to buy the express pass when you get to the parks but then to also buy the premier hotels and they are already included. So do you choose the cheaper hotel and not get the express pass until you get there or just get the premier hotel and not worry about the pass bc it’ll already be included?

  • @ThePughTwo

    @ThePughTwo

    3 жыл бұрын

    We always recommend comparing the prices of both! Generally if you are getting express everyday, the premier hotels are going to save you a lot of money!

    So I was seeing the express passes are cheaper than regular one day pass. My friends and I aren't looking to go to universal several days so we will just go one day (which isn't enough but its ok w me), we wont stay in hotels of universal but outside. Should I still wait until the day we go or is it better to but it ahead of time?

  • @ThePughTwo

    @ThePughTwo

    If you are positive you want them, purchasing them early will save you money! The reason we say to wait in some circumstances is when people aren’t sure if they are going to want them or if they are going to be worth it. However, if you are positive it’s something you want, we highly recommend you purchasing them as soon as possible!
