I drink a lot of the fruit punch Powerades during the hot months and Coke in the cool months. Thanks for the info about the freestyle in San Francisco area I’ll look for it next time.

We were on the fence about whether to get a Coca Cola freestyle cup or not, but changed our minds about getting one for our trip after watching this video. This was so convenient. We are use to drinking water all day and this saved us a lot of money. It may have been cold out, but we were still drinking a lot of water all day. Thanks to Universal and the freestyle cup, we now know what a Strawberry and Blue Raspberry Icee tastes like. Both were good, but was like the Blue Raspberry more. Thank you so much for all the information.

If you look at the menu on the Freestyle machine and see “water” as a separate selection, you can fill anything including empty water bottles 😉. If you don’t see the “water” option, you need a Freestyle cup.

Hey guys, love the videos! I was just there last week and purchased the Freestyle cups for my fam based on your recommendation from a previous video. It is totally worth it. And those cups are great and absolutely don't spill! We used the hell out of them the whole week were there. The only frustrating part was when the machines ran out of ice every afternoon. It happened every day. I was also frustrated that they did not work in the hotel. They have different cups that you have to buy to use the hotel machines. That doesn't make sense. Thanks again guys!!

They’re not perfect, but it’s better than spending $50/day on bottles! Lol we agree about the hotels, we always make sure to fill ours up in Citywalk before we head back just for that reason. We also usually bring a few bottles of water in our suitcase just for the room. We’re so happy our videos were helpful!

Chris, sorry but that's an unwritten rule Universal has implemented since they started the refill program. If you buy your cups from a restaurant/cafe in the HOTEL, it will not work in the parks. If you go to the parks and buy the cup there, it will NOT work in the hotels. I couldn't make up my mind but figured because I didn't want to lug an empty mug in my small messenger bag all day, I got the hotel mugs. But again, everyone's needs are different. I bet Disney is just as restrictive with their refill mugs.

@@largol33t1 Walmart is around the corner maybe a 10-15 minute walk. I drove there so i used my car and bought a case for the room and packets to flavor the water if I chose to. Sucks that they couldn't use the same cup for everywhere but if you fill up on the way out, you get to drink while your waiting for the shuttle which is like 5 mins when I went last week.

The only exception to that is when their system is down, which has happened to us once or twice.

Yeah! It also appears that the water is available in all the freestyle machines again as well! Around the time we made this video, some of the machines didn’t have the water option!

Haha we always choose a cup in the very back when buying a new one. They’ve always been super clean, though! We just slide ours into the drink pocket on the side of our backpack. Works like a charm!

The Freestyle cups are yet another reason why Universal is better than Disney at the moment!

We never take enough cash to pay for stuff, just for tipping! A card is really all you need!

Card or the app. I had a lanyard I brought, my ticket, hhn ticket, room key and my card in one of those zipup holder things they sell for a dollar and that worked well. Also can link your card to your room at a universal resort and you will just pay it on the departure day or put the card into the app and pay it that way. There's just so many options, love it.

Also if you are staying at an onsite hotel, you can charge with your room key: it just gets charged to your credit card on file at the end of your stay. This makes it so you don't need to have any extra cards handy

They have a Coca Cola stand in CityWalk where you can refill the cups and I *think* you can get an icee there! We’re not big icee fans, so we’re not 100% sure, but I’d be surprised if you couldn’t!

Yes, they are! They sell a tervis style tumblr that we’ve shown in several videos that are themed to different areas of the park, and they sell the cheaper one shown in this video. Both cups work with the freestyle machines!

We were just there last week for three days and found out that you purchase the cups on the first day and get free refills. On the second and third days we did not have to purchase the refill option. The water and ice is free all day long wherever they have water option on the freestyle machines. This was a great option because I had liquid water enhancers in my backpack.

Yes! Some of the machines will give you water regardless of what cup you have. This is a great option for people that just want water! Also, the water enhancers are a nice touch, too!

I’m a bit confused. Great video btw!!! But if I bought a cup 2 summers ago, would I still be able to bring it for use this summer? Or do I have to buy a new one each time I visit the parks??

You can bring them! We have had one instance where they couldn’t be re-activated, however every other time it’s worked perfectly fine!

We just hold it! We're usually drinking out of it while we're walking anyway, but if we need to put it up, it fits perfectly in the mesh pocket on the side of our backpack.

My husband and I will be going to universal later this year for the first time, and your videos are super helpful! Would you be able to cover how the package pick up system works? I heard that while in the park you can purchase souvenirs and tell them you want to use this and they'll bring the item to the front of the park so you don't have to carry a bunch of things around while going on rides?

If you stay at hard rock they deliver souvenirs to your room if you want. I know they did it for my family 3-4 years ago

Unfortunately the refill cups in the parks and the ones at the hotel are different. You can get free water in your cup at the resort, though! That’s what we always opt for since we spend most of our time in the parks or CityWalk.

Guys, I'm loving all of your content! This might be a weird question..I plan on only bringing a fanny pack to universal, does that mean I have to hold the cup in my hand all day? Or, can you get some kind of strap/holder?

To our knowledge we do not think so, however that would be a great idea in our opinion! Luckily they have them so often that we think they would be hard to miss!

My mom and I have reusable cups we fill with ice from the hotel and then refill from the water fountains around the parks. I know some might be meh about tap water but we have no problem with it. Plus we have had the same issue with water in the machines. The one by the mystic fountain didn't have just plain water. They had the flavor or sparkling water and they have the fake sugar. I've only used mine on long days or days I know we are going to have multiple meals. Also, you either got lucky or I am unlucky. The lid on my freestyle cup leaks. I keep mine in a holder and as I'm walking it will splash up and out the breather hole and get everywhere!!!

Haha we definitely wouldn’t put much trust into the seal on that lid! Our tumbler style cup as leaked onto our backpack, so we know the feeling. You just have to figure out what works for you!

Planning a trip to Universal in January from El Salvador...and its quite pricey to say the least. Your videos have helped me be more excited about spending that kind of money for a week! From getting the best deals to must do things around the parks. And Universal can thank you two for me upgrading from the value resort to the Hard Rock lol. Question about the icees. I was reading that only certain locations allow you to get icees in the freestyle cups...is it only the outdoor kiosks you mentioned or are there other locations that participate as well? @@ThePughTwo I actually did think of another question. The nightime lights show at Hogwarts Castle, website says it starts at dusk and runs every 20 minutes until close. The week we are planning to go..23 January. The average park hours close before the average sunset (from my research anyway) Does this mean that we wouldn't be able to see that show that week? The captain america cafe is a great one to stop at and gets overlooked every time. We say there for 30 mins just to cool off and rehydrate and there was never a line. Probably says alot about the cafe but oh well.....🤷

Just found your channel and LOVE your content! Question about the fanny pack/bum bag. Are you able to wear it on rides? Does it have to be around your waist or can it be put crossbody? I heard you can wear one on most of the rides, but can't find any more detail about max dimensions, if it can have a water bottle attached, etc. Thanks! :-)

As far as we know there aren’t any size limitations with the fanny packs. The one we have is pretty big and we’ve never had an issue. We’re not sure about how you wear it. On rides that it would interfere with the restraint, they might make you move it to your waist but we’re not 100% sure. Also, Universal does require it to be a 3 prong closure on the bag, which just means the closure has 3 pieces sticking out instead of 2. As far as rides, you have to take it off for Hulk, Velocicoaster, and Rip Ride. The rest of them you can take the fanny pack on. They’re sometimes weird about MIB, but we haven’t had any issues lately.

Just returned from a 4 day trip and I also can confirm as long as it gets the restraint bar on and keeps you safe along with being 3 prong, your good to go. Even if they say something to you, it'll just be to turn it to your side. Had to do that on gringotts cause the seats are awkward shape and of course hulk velocicoaster and rip ride are nothing on you, even hats go in your shirt or attached to something cause you WILL lose it. Also, freestyles will give you water even if the machine says your out for the day. Had lemonade mio bottle in my pack and just used that on day 4 and turned out great. Had a great trip and want to go back asap...👌

I bought a freestyle cup when I was there two years ago and apparently you could buy two or more days at a time? We were in the parks a total of three days and apparently on my second day whoever activated did it for two days and I had no idea! So, the first thing we did on our last day was go to get it activated and she told us we were already set for the day! I was like 😲 cool! It could have been a fluke thing but i think it’s a great idea to be able to buy multiple days. I stayed at endless summer and I thought since it was a resort I could also fill my cup up at the resort but they said you had to pay for the drinks there so that was a bummer. 😞 You guys do a really great job in all your videos! I was wondering if you guys could show us around the resorts you stay at when you go? Ik a lot of other people do those types of videos but some of them are hard to get through and don’t give as much information as you guys! Thanks so much! Awh that’s so sweet! We’ve definitely talked about doing resort videos and even considered doing live streams from the resorts in the future, so definitely stay tuned for that! It sounds like you got lucky with your cup! We’ve had that happen once or twice before, but no one has ever mentioned purchasing multiple days to us! Love this idea and I didn’t even know there were refillable tumblers in the parks for sale. I love LMNT electrolytes (which are great for days you are walking and sweating a lot) so I’ll bring those and add them to my water!

Love your channel, question, I have a tumbler from 2022, am I able to bring it back on a different month/year? Also am I able to get a slushee with it instead of soda?

Yes and yes!! As long as the chip in the bottom still works, you can reactivate it! If you’ve ran it through the dishwasher, the chip will most likely be damaged.

Yes you can bring the cups back and keep charging them for refills! We actually have a cup from HHN 25 that we bring back sometimes!

I was there for Spring Break 2022 and bought the cup. Great at first but turned into a nightmare because most of the Coca Cola machines ran out of ice and the lines for the vendors were a mile long. Had to go without ice all day.

They struggle to keep ice in the machines when it’s busy, but most of the machines have cold drinks! It’s a little annoying, but they do their best. Still better than paying $5/bottle for water if you ask us!

We also buy a new Freestyle Cup with every visit, and during our last trip, we were able to refill our cups with free water at the Royal Pacific Hotel. But this time we will be staying at Portofino Bay. Does anyone know if there is also a Freestyle machine or an option to fill our cups with water for free there?

Do you know if you can still use the older cups with the straw and no chip in it? They let us use it about 2 years ago, we just had to pay a $1.06 for each refill, but you couldn't use the any machine.

Your cup will still work at HHN! If the area you’re in for Stay n Scream has a freestyle location or just a food tent, you can absolutely refill it then!

Can you bring the Coke Freestyle cup inside a restaurant....like The Three Broomsticks and have it filled for free?? Or if not, can you bring it in a restaurant already filled and drink it with your meal? Btw, love your channel!!!

They actually have released a few seasonal cup holders! They're like a crossbody bag, but instead of a purse, it's just a pouch for your cup!

Can the same cup that you use at the parks also be used in any of the universal hotels? When we stayed at Endless Summer Dockside we had to purchase a separate cup just to use at the hotel alone. Wondering if that’s the same at the other hotels...

As far as we know, none of the hotels have a freestyle machine for the same cups. Cabana Bay also has their own cup system, but unfortunately they don’t work together.

For reactivating a old cup, is it $10 a day or do you get a discount for doing multiple days? For instances; I plan on brining my old one and activating it for my whole trip (5 days). So am I going to pay $50 for those 5 days or is there some sort of discount for doing more than 1 day? Thank you so much for your help!

There is no discount on more days! Do in you example, it would be $50!

Sorry if this question was asked before. Can you bring in your own water bottles to refill with the free ice water? I was hoping to bring water enhancer packets and my insulated water bottle when we go. This way I could always have a bottle safely sealed in my pack back. Thank you! Y'all are beyond helpful! 💜💚

Absolutely! We’ve seen mixed results about the freestyle machines letting you get water without one of the special cups, but you can take your bottle to one of the food/drink kiosks and they’ll happily fill it for you!

I heard any cup or bottle you can get water without the special cup.

Is the classic souvenir cup still available? How does that compare with the freestyle refill cup?

We aren’t sure exactly what you are referring to with the classic souvenir cup. We know that some older freestyle cups still work!

Since you mentioned you can use the cup for icey, can it be used at Moose juice?

Yep, they still work! You don’t have to reactivate it or anything for after hours events. When you refill your cup, the machine will say “refills until …” and then have a specific time. During HHN it usually says 2AM.

Never been to HHN, bring niece and nephew (older teens)- don’t carry backpacks etc. So can anyone suggest a no hassle way for them to carry them around

@@hopefulton8957 buy a fanny pack of any size or wear a belt and buy drink holder slings off Amazon. Hang your cups from the belt or pack, just remember to empty them before you get in line for something that goes upside down lol.

Can you bring the cups on the ride if you’re not planning to get a locker

Not really. Basically, if you have to get a locker for your bag, you’ll need one for your cup. If it’s a “fanny pack only” or “no bags at all” ride, the cups have to go up. We hope this helps!

Boy how times have changed. My last trip in 2016 I was still using my refillable cup from 2011 and there was zero reactivating fee.

It has less to do with the day of the week and more to do with the time of year. Obviously the weekends are generally busier than week days, but to get a better idea of crowds we recommend looking at the Orlando Informer crowd calendar!
