Broke my ankle last year taking my ladder stand down, as soon as I released the ratchet I went down with the stand. I fully support your ideas of safety systems. I can't afford all that stuff so this year I'll be still hunting.
I'm the opposite.... I'll do ladder stands all day long hang on stands are my nemesis... great video sir I appreciate all the info you share with us!
My old Loc On Titan ladder has two straps off the top that wrap around the back of the tree and down through the rungs then cinches with a ratchet rope. This pulls the top of the stand up against the tree so it cant fall sideways. Then the mid bar also anchors to the tree with a strap. Oldie but a goodie and only weighs 20 lbs
Pucker factor ,giggity . Great video ,great tips !
I'd like to add something replace the straps that connect your climbing sticks to the tree or the ones on a ladder stand that connect you to the tree when needed inspect them every year I replace them every year just to be safe
Grest video. I bring a ladder into the field and use the ladder to do the first strap.
On trees that wrk, I hv actually used my climbing stand to attach straps at platform and top of seat/rear of gunrail. I like knwg I hv dbl points secured at top. (I once climbed up a 20' ladder and as I placed my pack under seat I saw 6 wk old ratchet strap was frayed half way through. My heart nearly came out of my chest. The acorn and chestnut shell hulls on seat and platform gave up the culprit). So better odds are one strap stays intact if other chewed. I then come back dwn to install the middle support bar.
I've climbed poles for 26 years. Latching and unlatching the platform is scary only because, it's shit yourself dangerous.
What pruner do you use? Looks like it actually cuts!
If the tree is fairly straight I like to use a 20' set of sticks, and always double ratchet strap the top.
Agree 100% ...can u do a video on how to get the guys that say they will help every year and dont see them til opening day ...u should see there faces when ive moved the stands they cant find 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not sure of your sponsorship obligations, but we put up two X-Stands and they're as secure as advertised before climbing up.

Agreed that x stands are secure, specifically in the hanging process.... (but they don’t come close to millennium stands for comfort and strength)
Easy to assemble.
How do you hook into a lineman belt when you are on a ladder stand. The ladder is so far out that to set the lifeline I have to climb with nothing.
I've been using XL and my computer for 2 different machines for the last 10 years I have 10 different machines running into me and I dispatched from all over the place with the XL program.
What do you use to silence a squeak?
Go mobile i went 100% mobile this year. And it solves alot of problems keeps spots fresh. Does away with thieves and brings more oppurtunities.
What's the name of saw pruner your using?
"I use climbig sticks..." If I wasn't scared to death of *those* I wouldn't use ladder stands! ;-)
