Take your time to explore areas outside of Phoenix, from the red rocks and ancient ruins at Monument Valley to the dramatic beauty of Lake Powell. Just be sure not to take any wild fire risks lightly and always check local weather conditions before embarking on a hike or other outdoor activity. And never ever cut down a Saguaro cactus-they are protected by law in Arizona!
When driving around Arizona, always be prepared for just about anything Mother Nature throws your way. Don’t attempt to cross a flooded wash or creek bed-it could be more dangerous than you think. Don’t try to swim in the canals either-they can become very deep and powerful during a monsoon storm. And finally, don’t take the summer heat lightly! Make sure to always stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if you are out for an extended period of time.
Enjoy living in Arizona while also respecting its laws, wildlife, and cultural heritage.
