@@UnitedKingdomGovernment yes and no. Just don't be so scared and never go. 30 seconds to a minute waiting for a gap is fine but after you've missed 6 perfectly suitable (for a learner) gaps you're going to get honked. The instructors job should be to help them go and determine a suitable gap and get their confidence up to go.

It took time for my head to get used to being on the right side of the road as a passenger in a car, and I'd say it took a few months to somewhat adjust. When I eventually started driving I was used to it and it feels normal now. I guess it would take me a little time to re-adjust to driving on the left again, but it feels interesting now to know it feels natural for me to drive on both sides.

I feel for these learners as it took me the 7th go to pass. I got super anxious and it made me look like a dangerous driver when in fact it was the instructors who made me feel that way. I went to a rural town to do it after doing it all in metro areas and it made all the difference. I’m confident in driving in all areas even really busy urban areas. Such a relief to pass but it took months and thousands of dollars.

been watching some of these videos lately, idk about it, but in my home country, Hungary, no one is taken straight into traffic without learning the basics, and its for the best. by learning the basics I mean not stalling every single time, not looking at the stick while shifting. it just makes it so much easier for the others in traffic and the learner too.

I mean u guys cant understand this because of strict driving speeds in Australia, but in Malaysia we have very lenient speed limit enforcements and we have many touge routes too. Friend of mine rode in a GT86 and that car left the E92 in the dust at high speed turns.

Recently I drove a dude who used to be a drive instructor and he complimented me. So I felt good after that knowing I am not a danger to myself and those around me. Which I kinda already knew I live just south of DC and have only been in a super super minor accident which was my perception was off but I was so slow I barely bumped someone while parking. It’s been like 4 yrs since I learned to drive so like that’s amazing. On my driving lessons we almost got into accidents just due to other drives just turning without lookin and I didn’t get into an accident and my main issue was stopping too far from a car more so than stopping too hard or too close

Stalling actually doesn't affect your points it's how you react to the stall. Like if you stall and panic and forget how to start the car, that's a problem. But if you keep your cool and continue on like normal then it's fine. But yeah head checks.

My instructor asked me for a hill start at a bridge at a major highway! The nerves plus more nerves of possibly getting hit if we roll back and a car comes in. Luckily no rollbacks and no accidents. Learning in the Philippines driving school is horrendous especially if you live in the city and it's your first time to drive and you just came home after living overseas for over a decade where roads are neatly paved, traffic lights work, and just a tenth of motorists and pedestrians.
