I actually think the opposite: you should briefly discuss the hard topics up front if they are a dealbreaker for you. Then you don’t waste time with each other dating and getting emotionally invested in someone you would leave because of those things.

Actually, it’s horrible advice to tell people to waste time dating a person who is potentially incompatible due to something as important as political affiliation.

Politics I'm 50-50 on. And it depends on how the person handles it. Past relationships though, DEFINITELY NOT. When chicks try to talk about or dig into my past relationships, I just let them know we're not going into thet right now.

How do you NOT talk about politics on a first date? Do you wait for them to casually tell you they’re a nazi on the second date? I feel like politics is a really important and non-rushed topic to at least brush over to make sure you’re on the same page on a first date. Having different political views doesn't define if someone is a good or "decent person". That's a toxic and ironically hypocritical mentality. Based on the things you said, I'm assuming you care about inclusiveness and accepting all people of different backgrounds, perspectives, and views, right? For example, many religions and cultures have instilled beliefs that go against the values the lgbt community holds. So do you not accept people who follow their religion/culture and deem them as "not a good person"?
