What Nobody Tells You About How to Strike Your Irons

Спорт

This is why you struggle to strike your irons pure and make solid contact 👇
1. You are trying to hit your irons straight. The golf swing is an arc so it's almost impossible to hit straight golf shots. The best players enhance their iron str by allowing the ball to curve.
2. Your Ball and Hand Position are in the wrong place at set up
3. You don't have enough weight on your front foot at impact - Easy Fix
4. You are flicking your wrist through impact and not getting compression
What's great is if you have any one of these faults in your golf swing they are really easy to fix and can make an instant impact on the quality of your ball striking not just with your irons but with your driver too.
For example if you want to hit your driver straight just changing the ball position and alignment of body will be a real eye opener for you

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZread and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I am somewhat speechless at this video. I don’t think anyone should strike an iron until they’ve watched this. That’s not a joke. I don’t think many people understand why they should be doing this, adjusting that and anything else they’re taught to do. This is the clearest explanation to every question you could possibly have for the ‘why’. I cleaned up my iron shots on the range today because of this video, I’ve been playing 20 years and play off 8. Incredible video, thank you.

Danny, been watching your channel now for over a year and I have to thank you as my ball striking with irons has improved dramatically. I was at a place where I could not get the club on the ball in any consistent manner. I was basically hitting the ball into the ground. Watching your instruction helped transform my understanding of swing mechanics, and now I regularly launch my irons into the air quite nicely. I still hit iron shots a bit fat at times, and that is frustrating, but what is more frustrating is preparing to play a 120 yard approach shot, setting my grip and alignment only to catch it thin and see the ball scamper 80 yards down the fairway, never getting 6 feet off the ground. So I see a challenge in trying to incorporate Step 3 into my swing. I feel compelled to “stay down”. Any suggestions you might have in helping to overcome this challenge are appreciated (I know, practice!).

Nobody told me but I was a voracious reader of golf instruction books. Nicklaus taught me how to shape shots both ways in Golf My Way in the mid-80s and you explain HOW to do it even better 👍 But what really helped my understanding WHY it works. Nicklaus used the analogy of the swipe across the ball vs dead straight strike tilting the backswing axis like a banking airplane wing and explained the point of doing it on approach shots was to control the direction the ball goes after landing. Nothing is more fun than hitting a ‘hard’ fade with a 60° wedge landing it on the left edge of the green and see it zip sideways to the right via the slice spin. 😊

Thank you for this. I applied your tip at 6:44 to my driver swing, and did a few practice swings back and forth before my shot to get the feeling of shifting forward and I didn’t hit a single slice today(my typical driver shot). I played the middle and left side of the fairway consistently for the first time ever.

Finding you has been the best eye opening and logical thinking about striking a golf ball the proper way. You are absolutely correct when you say that “ nobody tells you these things”. So happy and grateful that you have taken the time to explain ( better than anyone in my 57 years) in great detail ,that any golfer of any level can understand, how to drill and practice and bring what you teach right out to the course and see amazing results. Thanks SO much! Greatly appreciate you!!!

Danny, I just turned 60, long time viewer of your channel. My golf game was falling apart last year and I signed up for usage of a Trackman locally for several sessions last month. I was making some progress, but I just put together 4 or 5 of your videos that seem to diagnose my issues last week. I applied your tutelage to today's session and it was absolutely AWESOME. My club head speed jumped 10 mph with the same or less effort, my carry yardages have increased on average 10-15 yds and that was only in just ONE session. Next few sessions I will try to gel the new concepts to be more consistent, and I really believe there is still yet some more yardage to be gained. If I had the chance I would buy you to dinner, full spread lol. Thank you SO much for restoring my golf game. I cant wait until May when I can take this to the course.

Thank you Danny! I've golfed for 50 years and have gone from a 3-4 handicap to 18 and I couldn't put a finger on what was happening in my swing. Of course age is a factor, but still at 75 fairly flexible. I believe after watching this lesson I have gotten a bit lazy and drifted from the finer points in my swing. With this reminder I will start working on full turn and elevating to complete the swing. Momentum is there just need to finish. Thank you for all of your guidance!

Danny is simply the best. Headed directly to the driving range to try this and a couple other "Danny drills". Ive been playing for a little more than a year now, and Danny has easily taken 10-15 strokes off my game without any hands-on lessons. I will be shooting low 80's next year. Thanks Danny!

Dynamics of the golf swing. Absolutely correct. You touched on the follow through with the swing motion finishing upwards, something I have been conscious of and working on. I call it pumping out he chest. All professional golfers do this and the action is so fluid. Thanks Danny for your great insight. By far the best explanation and demonstration. Take care

Hi Danny, your technique of teaching and your explanation is so awesome. I started with your iron strike steps, then chipping and putting videos, and i kid you not, I’ve moved from 102 to 92 so quickly. I have memorized your quick step by step guide for these 3 vital shots. Less duff chips, fewer 3 putts and from the fairway I strike the ball on or near the green. At worse its a chip and a putt. Thank you so very much.

Danny, at 70 years old I have had striking cleanly problems for years on a consistent basis. After watching this video from you two times, I took your tip of moving my center sternum set up three golf balls ( before I set my feet space) to the left of the ball placement. Which invariably followed your line up with the left shoulder. I have not been to the range yet, but I do have a practice net outside that I went to right away while all was fresh in my mind. Wow, had consistent strikes like never before when I practiced my golf swing rhythm and follow through, my God thank you so much! I have been watching you all winter among two other tube instructors I find helpful, you have been the best for me with your down to earth delivery of your tips! Love the times you include your Father as he’s in my age group, thank him for me please. Thank you for understanding Seniors on a fixed retirement income can’t always afford professional lessons, I can’t thank you enough for all your video’s offered to us invisible people who can’t!!!
