The Macedonian People do not have any Bulgarian DNA as for the Serbians they are descendants of the Oldest Proto-European People My Macedonian People.

They ended up sueing the show because the show had the wrong information and the couple got a lot more than 300k pounds due to stress etc so yes the answer was correct Alexander was Greek from Macedon which located within Greeces current borders

No no! The show was actually correct! Not only was he Macedonian, but he was Slavic Macedonian! The Rosetta Stone has been decoded and the main text in the middle is ancient Slavic Macedonian Sanskrit in which most of the words used back then in 330Bc are still being used today by the modern Slavic Macedonian people! It's carved into stone and sitting in a London museum, had the people in the game show been to their own museum, they would have known that the correct answer is Macedonian! There was no lawsuit! @@PeterMilanovski How can the show be correct when the show admitted they were wrong after viewer complaints. What had happened was that the researcher setting the questions had confused the modern country called Republic of Macedonia with the ancient Kingdom of Macedon in northern Greece.

What the fuck!!!!!Macedonia was a Greek province!!!!Fyrom did not exist then neither it's slav people that inhabit the area....That was wrong.Alexander the Great was Greek that's why he was taking part at the Olympic Games!!!

You are reading the wrong books, you should read the scientific paper that was released regarding the decoding of the middle text on the Rosetta Stone! As it stands, it's in ancient Slavic Macedonian Sanskrit in a language which is still being used today! The same language of Ptolemy, Kleopatra and Alexander the Great! Why Phoenician? The last territory of the Roman empire was what is now most of the Balcans so the residents of these countries (not just the modern greeks) have a good reason so claim some connection to them. As about the Macedonian part : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ancient_Greek_tribes There were several tribes that identified as a certain states politically and as (ancient) Greeks ethnically/culturally. Of course this can be interpreted differently depending on what perspective one has. What I am trying to say is that both answers in that question were correct ethnically (as in ancient Macedonians are considered ancient Greeks) but the Macedonian answer was correct if one takes politically (The ancient Macedonians were an independent state). Beyond nationalistic biases etc it is clear that this question was too vague, intended to confuse the contestant with two "correct" answers

Now, fix that logic! ;) Also, do not confuse the Ancient Macedonians (->Hellenic or, at the very least, thoroughly Hellenized) with the modern Macedonians (->residents of the broader Macedonian geographical region spanning 3 countries) and the modern "F.Y.R. Macedonians" (->mainly Bulgarians, with some Albanians, Roma and Slavic-speaking Greeks). There are no direct pure modern ETHNIC descendants of the Ancient Macedonians in existence nowadays, as there are no direct pure ETHNIC descendants of the Bryges/Thracians, of the Illyrians or even the Ancient Greeks for that matter. Have you read the scientific paper on the Rosetta Stone being deciphered? Ptolemy and Kleopatra spoke Slavic Macedonian, the middle text was found to be ancient Slavic Macedonian Sanskrit text and we know that they spoke Slavic Macedonian because the same language is still spoken today by modern day Macedonians! Philip II conquered the Greeks which is why Alexander the Great had greek troops in his Macedonian army! There's no longer any claim to Macedonia from the Greeks!

@@Streetw1s3r The point is this though as any historian will tell you Macedonia was a Hellenic Kingdom and formed part of the Greek ethnos. The problem here is how the question was put because the researcher was ignorant of ancient history and modern balkan history and so confused the modern Republic of Macedonia (a modern slavic state created in 1944) with the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia in northern Greece. There was no Greece before Philip came along (Just independent republics and Kingdoms), but a united imperial Greece came along thanks to Philip. So since Greece was a united country the correct answer would be Greek for Alexander,. However the Macedonians considered themselvs as Greeks long before Philip came along. Of course the correct answer would have been..................'both'. Alexander was both Macedonian and Greek, like Leonidas was both Spartan and Greek.

If you are or understand modern Slavic Macedonian and someone read's the ancient Slavic Macedonian Sanskrit text, you will be surprised that you can actually understand it, even after all that time! You should download the document and see for yourself, you will understand why the greeks and Egyptians can't read it, because it's pure Slavic Macedonian! And it's a far more advanced alphabet than anything else of that time! Latin and therefore English is based on the Slavic Macedonian writing system! Take the word Greek for example, it comes from the Macedonian word Grejci pronounced Greytsi meaning those who came! The Romans Latinised it into Greco from Greytsi and the English word greek comes from the Latin word Greco! The Greeks were called "those who came" because they are not European! They showed up after the volcano on Santorini island erupted in 1500Bc! The only known people who arrived then are the Israelites and that story is in the book of exodus in the bible! How did the British channel apologized about this: One of the important issues that arose was the use of the flag of FYROM (North Macedonia) on the screen in both the question and the answer. We've had a lot of people write to us about this and we've looked into it and we can confirm that they were simply inaccurate and this error can really confuse viewers. We apologize without a second thought, and apologize to those we offended - that was not our intention. It is quite obvious that the specific question concerned Ancient History and not Modern European History.

Actually no they didn't, you might know that the British museum in London has the Rosetta Stone which has confirmed that Macedonians have always been Slavic including Ptolemy, Kleopatra and Alexander the Great! You need to brush up on your history, it has been corrected! The Macedonians have been there since the stone age but there no archeological evidence of greek existence before 1500Bc! But it can be read using plain modern day Slavic Macedonian and it says exactly what it does in both greek and Egyptian! Even if you don't understand modern day Slavic Macedonian, you can translate it directly into English using the cipher, it's very advanced for it's time which suggests that it has been developed over a much longer time than anything else.

@fan4fun4ever I'll tell you my story, if it clears it up for you. My grandfather and grandmother are/were both from what is today a part of Greece. They speak Greek because they were forced to when they were children. Their names were changed to Greek names, and even their parents gravestones were destroyed because they didn't have Greek names. Still, however, i can go to my grandfather's home town, and everyone knows me, and speaks Macedonian to me. Same with my grandmother's town.

You need to download the scientific paper called Tracing The Script And The Language Of The Ancient Macedonians! It's in PDF format, just Google it, you will find that the Macedonians from the time of Alexander, Ptolemy and Kleopatra, they all spoke Slavic Macedonian and you can understand it because it's still the same language! The text is an ancient Slavic Macedonian Sanskrit text which Macedonians no longer use, there's also a guy by the name of Basil Chulev (Vasil) who has written and published a lot of work, you will learn things about yourself that you didn't know about before or believed it to be greek but as it turned out was actually Macedonian! No idea who are those guys But I know what the word Macedonia means because I am a Macedonian and not a Greek :D Тhe word Macedonia is used in the Hindu language even today and it means Mother of the World that proves that the Macedonians used the word Macedonia when India was part of the Macedonian Empire and preserved the true meaning of the word. Slavic languages didn't exist back then. The glagolitic script was only made in the 8th century. And also, a not too small amount of words in most modern languages have some sort of greek descent. In all truth, you cannot argue with the macedonians, since they have their OWN proof if he was macedonian or greek, and we actually can't be sure whether he was really greek. We don't know much about history in the first place and anything could've happened. Along with that, we don't know what's true or myth and we can never know what REALLY happened. So, only proof which could be anywhere from 1%-99% possible we could believe. And even though we find groundbraking proof that states that he was definitely greek, the macedonians, well... they won't really care! What they want to believe and will believe is that Alexandar of Macedon was the great "Macedonian Hero!", and they won't give a damn shit about what other people say or think. That's the glory of being human: A person can think: "1+1 is zero" and no matter how wrong they are, they proudly would say it to the rest of the people in this world, no matter how much they are embarassing. Similar to flat-earthers who are 100% convinced that the governmant is lying to us about the earth's round shape. No matter how much they get made fun of they'll stand strong. All the Hellenic (Greek) tribes went to war with one another. That doesn't mean they were not Greek.The common thing between them was Language and Religion. He was an ANCIENT Macedonian, and of a royal house, hence Greek (of the Argeades dynasty, originally from Argos in Peloponnese). Moden "Macedonians" have nothing to do with the historical Macedonians of Classical Antiquity. They are a mixed population consisting of Albanians, Roma, as well as Bulgarians and Slavophone ex-Greeks. In our modern times, the terms Macedonia and Macedonian only exist in a geographical, and up to a point cultural, but certainly not ethnic context. No discernibly distinctive descendants of the Hellenic Ancient Macedonians exist as a separate nation nowadays. Their offspring is probably mixed genetically in the populations of Greece, FYROM, Bulgaria and probably even Albania. But there's no way to tell. To cut a long story short: Ancient Macedonians were either Hellenic or, at the very least, thoroughly Hellenised already by the times of Philip and Alexander. Modern Macedonians exist only in the geographical sense and are spread in 3 or 4 countries. The citizens of F.Y.R.O.M. may claim neither exclusivity in being direct descendants of the Ancient Macedonians nor any direct special ethnic affinity to them. At the very least, they speak a Slavic language (some linguists claiming it's actually an offshoot form of Bulgarian) plus their ethos, customs, music and overall culture have nothing 'Macedonian' per se about them: they're distinctly Southern Slavic, with very much in common with those of Serbians, Montenegrins and esp. Bulgarians.

You fail to address any of the points I raised on my post, which FYI reflect the consensus of academics all over the world. Plus, let's just say, for the sake of argument, that I agree with professor Harl that Ancient Macedonians weren't Greek: does this make them ...Slavic? Try selling that to ANY decent scholar in the world, and I promise you'll be delegated to the laughing stock category! At any rate, even if they weren't indeed originally Greek, they certainly had way more to do with the Greek culture, way of life, language and customs than you could ever possibly do. And, when all is said and done, it's really sad and pathetic that you are so eager to dismiss your distinctly Slavic cultural, ethnic and linguistic identity rather than embrace and cherish it.

Macedonia is the English version, in our language is written and spoken as MAKEDONIJA. Check what you're writing first!!

Nope, there's no such thing as a Macedonian DNA, as there's no such thing as a Greek DNA, or a French DNA or an Italian DNA and so on. You're clearly referring to Haplogroups here, but are you so naive as to believe that all residents of F.Y.R.O.M. claim a unique Haplogroup as their distinct own? Are you *so* eneducated? You're making a fool of yourself... Plus, FYI, that bogus research you probably refer to, was widely refuted and countered by prominent geneticists such as Cavalli-Sforza, among others. You are Macedonian because the Rosetta Stone says that you are! You will find that Ptolemy and Kleopatra and Alexander the Great spoke the same Slavic Macedonian language as you do! Google "Tracing The Script And The Language Of The Ancient Macedonians PDF" and download it, that scientific paper is your proof that you are just as Macedonian as Alexander the Great was himself! There's a lot more reading material by a guy called Basil Chulev, he has posted a lot of papers on Macedonian history and the Macedonian encyclopedia is also there too!

Second, you never mentioned how close we were related to the Ancient Macedonians, and how close modern Greeks are. Stop straying away from the topic. I said previously, Macedonians are related 50-60% to ancient macedonians. Even if you take a low estimate of 40%, that is still twice as high as the HIGH estimate for the modern greeks (20%).

Personally I'd think it terrible anachronism to say he was Greek, simply because Pella is part of modern day Greece. The Macedonians were thought of as barbaric and a separate people, ignoring the Greek ancestry (Hercules and Achilles) claimed by the royal family. If Alexander was Greek, how did he and Philip II so famously "conquer Greece", I wonder? There is a clear delineation between warring Greek states and conquest by foreign nations. This was Macedonian conquest.

When he was born it was just Macedon. His official name - Alexander III of MACEDON. That was their kingdom, their nation. We don't call Romans Italians, so why should Macedonians be Greeks? A country which annexed Macedonia in 1913...

Just to point out. Ancient Macedonians were a northern Greek tribe. The nowadays self proclaimed "Macedonians" (people of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) are people of Slavic origin and they speak a language mutual to Bulgarian. Alexander the Great has nothing to do in origin with the people of this country called"Macedonia" so to have their flag mentioning Alexander's origin. Unless suddenly Alexander was a Slav!

Every Macedonian is by default Macedonian, but since no distinct Macedonian ethnicity survives (all constituents missing or being totally alien!), nowadays they must necessarily be considered Macedonians ONLY in the GEOGRAPHICAL sense. In that respect, Macedonians exist in 3 different modern Balkan nation states: FYROM, Greece and Bulgaria. And that's that. They are ALL Macedonians, so who are you to claim direct and exclusive rights to the name in an *ethnic* context? You have to *prove* your lineage, mate, prove your inheritance! Just provide us anything of FYROM's culture, language, customs (and what not) that even remotely resembles that of the Ancient Macedonians. First, you have to prove that a separate Macedonian ethnicity survived through the ages. Then, you have to establish your own distinct and exclusive connection to that allegedly surviving ethnicity. Are you up to the task? Disclaimer: before you turn this into an ad hominem: I don't claim that Greeks are pure and direct descendants of Ancient Greeks, so you can't accuse me of racism and Nazi views. The head of that show should face charges for historical manipulation, insulting Greece, and common fraud, unless a public apology is posted and actions are taken to correct this "error". Macedonia is not a nation but a Greek region; during the time of Alexander the Great, the kindgom of Macedonia was one of the Greeks states including Athens, Sparta, Thebes, Corinth, etc. The nationality of the people of these states, also called city-states, was Greek (Hellenic). The ancient Greek geographer Strabo stated this clearly, «Ἔστι μὲν οὖν Ἑλλὰς καὶ ἡ Μακεδονία» "Macedonia is part of Greece." -- (Georgraphic, Ζ' 9)

@fan4fun4ever No one in the country of Macedonian speak Greek. That's for sure. Not so true about people speaking Macedonian in Greece. Those are the facts. Second, Ancient Macedonian is not Ancient Greek. It might have had similarities, but it was a different language. German and English might sound alike for some words, but you don't call German an English language. Third, yes, no regular DNA exists, that's impossible over such a long time, but mitochondrial DNA works just as well.

@@ves8564 stop talking nonsense, Otto was german and Greeks spoke Greek. Arvanites were main part of the greek revolution slaughtering alabanians and turks. Arvanitika it's not a language it's a dialect invented by people of Greece(arvanites) who were located in the physical boarders of then Greece and Albania, arvanos river. The people were trading goats and sheeps through these boarders and their dialect helped them to communicate. Arvanites were and are Greeks and themselves, me too consider to be Greeks not Albanians. The DNA tests prove that theory to the bone.
