By far this is my favorite what my toddler eats in a day video. Because it is realistic and simple. A lot of mothers can relate struggling with feed our children. Other KZreadrs do a lot of scratch baking and cooking and are very creative with meal ideas and that's not always realistic for everybody.

You are doing a great job! I have a suggestion for exposing her to new foods. I know you are so busy getting her food ready before you start your own and probably don’t sit down to eat the same time they do. But if you do find yourself eating at the same time, put a little bit of what your eating on her plate. Don’t say anything about it. Just offer it and leave it alone. Your job is to offer the food, her job is to eat it. As long as you’re offering it, your job is done. Don’t spend time or energy pleading with her to eat it. All that to say, I have a 1yo who cries through every meal. So probably don’t listen to me. 🙈

I’ve tried that with my nephew in the past. I left a broccoli on his plate and his mom told me he doesn’t like vegetables. I was fairly picky as a child and so was my mom. One thing my mom would do to make sure I didn’t end up as picky as her is when I would refuse to eat something, she would make me take one bite. After one bite, if I didn’t want it, I didn’t have to eat it. I wouldn’t get something else unless I tried one bite of the food and this allowed me to realize if I truly liked the food or not

Some things that help when feeding my toddlers are putting a small serving of a new item on a plate with other stuff they like, telling them they don't have to eat it, but it's there if they want to try it. Also asking them to feed a new food to me. They enjoy this and will often then try it as it's in their hand. Sometimes just getting them to touch it is a success. I think of it as "sprinkling" just a little at a time expose them to new foods. Never any pressure.

She may not eat it but hopefully it’ll spark her curiosity. And then as she gets bigger she’ll start trying more. Just keep her involved, her palate will change. As long as she’s fed it’s good. I was watching one of other mom on KZread and I liked her way to feed her child, she said that she said that she give her child food and if he is not eating eat, she takes it away, explaining to him that that was your lunch, next time we eat at dinner time. And she doesn’t give him anything to snack in between. Hunger is the best stimulator. Also read it from one child physiologist. I am trying to imply it to my child sometimes and it worked. And as others said my girl will go to my plate more often then hers, even if it is same. Go figure. 😀

You are certainly doing the best you can for her Kayla! One suggestion could be to make a social story for Riley about trying new foods, including real photos of her. Another is to continue to put a new food on her plate at least once a day, maybe at dinner when you and Joe and maybe Jackson are eating the new-to-Riley food, with the expectation that she won’t have to eat it. Yes, she may throw a fit for a while but if you are consistent she will learn. Another tip is to try to eat one meal together as a family every day. It will probably help Riley someday too if she can go to school or have play dates to see other kids her age eating a variety of foods.

Kayla, I'm going through something similar with my 1 year old. He has been in early intervention his entire life anyway, but they are starting to think that he has a sensory processing disorder. There are more than one type, but with children that are overstimulated can be extremely picky eaters. I have been following your channel for about a year and have watched all the way back to when Riley was a baby and honestly it may be something you should bring up to her pediatrician? Maybe get an evaluation with an OT or feeding specialist? Couldn't hurt. Reason I bring it up is because in more than one of your videos loud sounds also bother her. Before anyone says why am I bringing up diagnosis, I have a special education license and work with this type of stuff all the time.

I’m going through a similar thing with my 2 and a half year old son. He is smart like Riley , talks a ton you would never know there was a sensory issue until it comes to food and certain behaviors if you know what to look for. My background is Early Childhood Education so I knew the signs. I’m relieved in our case we are finally making progress. I think a lot of parents just assume behaviors like picky eating , fear of loud noises is normal many times it is and nothing to worry about. However, not always. It never hurts to get an evaluation just Incase.

I totally understand your concerns! But, I gotta give you props; I honestly think you're doing great! The fact that she loves so much fresh fruit, is willing to eat peas, and you're able sneak in veggies elsewhere is good. Also, she eats yogurt, drinks her milk, takes peanut butter/almond butter, and takes chicken occasionally is awesome as well! The only thing I can say that I have done with my kiddos is to just offer them different things for exposure and even if they don't seem interested or like it, I'll try again the next day or so to peak their interest and I don't sweat it if they're not interested. I know we Mama's try so hard to give our children the best, I think you're doing great, and I'm sure her food palette will expand as she grows. 🤗

Thanks for this video and keep it up Mama 💕 I know it’s tough, trust me I have 3 picky eaters but it does get better if you keep trying! For one of my kids, we had to do food therapy since he had texture issues and one of the methods we used to help him try foods was to use the senses in a chart (look at it, smell it, lick it, take a bite) and it helped quite a bit. Try not to hide the foods , let her be aware of what she’s eating and what it can do for her (chicken gives you muscles, carrots help your eyes, cheese makes your bones strong, etc) Veggies can be in a smoothie too (my 2 year old doesn’t like veggies either in whole form) And they don’t necessarily need to eat 3 whole meals a day etc - as long as she eats a balanced diet and is growing , you’re good 👍🏻 Good luck! Riley is doing great so let her try things at her own pace 💕 Oh and I used to be a picky eater too 🙈 and now I love food so don’t worry lol

I was an incredibly picky eater as a child. In Europe, it was common to just have what you are given, and if you dont want it, maybe you will eat what you get at the next meal. So in daycare and 1st grade I was often picking at my food because I hated it, but that's all we got and that was my chance to eat. If I didnt want it, then I wasnt hungry enough. And if I was, then I ate what was in front of me, whether i liked it or not. I have now grown up to be the most adventurous foodie and struggle to keep weight off because I just love to cook and eat 😅 So there is hope for her yet!!

The two most stressful parts of parenting I think are sleep and eating. My daughter just turned two. Her meals look incredibly similar to yours, and she almost never tries anything new. For my baby, I’ve found it’s all about timing. If she’s in a good mood, and is in a positive ‘go get ‘em’ state of mind, she is much more likely to try a bite of a new food. Otherwise it’s always a no. She still loves to use a bottle to go to sleep. I shameful topic, but I’m being honest. In desperation to get nutrition into her, I started putting things in her bottles. That’s how I introduced her to peanut butter. I put in plain yogurt, fruit, whatever I can find that can be blended down enough to go in a bottle. Then I cut the nipple of the bottle to be able to have it not get clogged. It’s been a good way to help me feel better, but not any help with her eating. Kids’ relationship to food has to be in real life scenarios. Not hidden in a bottle. But we all do what we gotta do! Good luck and I’m with ya!

You are NOT alone. My toddler's palette is even more limited than Riley's. She is very picky and she has gluten, peanut and shell fish allergies. 🥴 The anxiety have over meals for her is unreal. But we make it through each day and she's happy. That's all I can ask right now. I'm about to go watch your next "toddler eat in a day video" to see if you saw any improvement in that one. Hang in there mama, and thank you so much for sharing this. ♥️

My almost 2 year old boy is also SO picky! I never thought I’d have a picky kid but he is also incredibly strong willed and is not super open to new things with food, he just likes what he likes. Lately I’ve been doing popsicles that have fruit, spinach and extras like flax seeds and hemp seeds and hes loved that! Also some chocolate peanut butter muffins that have spinach in them cause you can’t taste it!

The struggle is real. My 3 year old is picky but my 6 year old is even worse. I try to give them both a chance to at least try what we are eating. Its time consuming making separate meals for them. I hope your daughters eating habits expand for you soon!

My 2 & a half year old now eats everything. When she was a baby she ate everything and then turned picky around 1 & a half all the way up to last month. She honestly surprised me she eats things she never ate before or when she sees me eating something now she asks for some of mine. So maybe it’s just something they grow out of but don’t worry mama as long as you’re trying that’s all that matters! 💗

Don't worry too much! I was a skinny stick and of course my mom worried and heard all the comments from her mother in law as a kid (not toddler) that I wouldn't eat but I grew out of it. Now at 36 😂 I eat everything! Riley will grow out of it just like everything else. If you can somehow ease ur anxiety of it I'm sure she feels it and the anticipation it might help! You're lucky at least u don't have to think what new things to think of to cook! My one year old eats a lot of different things and it's a challenge still to think of new stuff! Enjoy her cuteness and give her a multivitamin and call it a day! 😂🤣😕

My little 2 year old isn’t picky and I see your pain. Something I do is make similar dinners to my own just less seasoning. And we eat together and we always give thanks to our food, and I let her watch me eat how I eat. I am a picky eater myself but just to make my lil one eat I’ll do anything to make sure she isn’t picky. I hope the best of luck and cheering you on. Riley looks happy.

I hear you Kayla! Just thinking about what to feed my little ones gives me a headache. Thankfully, my 3.5yo isn't too bad with food but the older that she gets, the pickier she's getting for sure. Does she like potato? My daughter loves tuna and potato patties - easy to make and can be frozen too. She also loves egg so I tend to mince up different veggies and make an omelette. But you're doing a great job Mama!

I feel your struggle! My little one was worse than Riley. But I had some luck when she helped me prepare the food. I used to have her make "milkshakes" - so she saw it had all the things she liked in it - milk, peanut butter, banana and "milkshake mix" - protein powder. I used to sometimes sneak in spinach and they were green "milkshakes." My husband cooked grilled cheese fingers - just a grilled cheese sandwich cut into strips. I had a friend that made her kid, grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwiches, which sounds gross but is actually pretty good. I feel your pain, my daughter was even pickier than Riley - the only veggies she ate through fourth grade was Earths Best Summer Vegetables. She didn't care that it was baby food and welp, neither did I. You're doing greatt!!

Going through the same with my just turned 3 yo. It's tough. I'm trying to introduce new food to him in singles...like one piece along with his familiar food. He'll eventually try it after 10 attempts. It's tough and very energy consuming trying to keep the weight on your toddler before a check up haha.

Hey Kayla 👋 thanks for the video 😃! You’re doing great, as long as they are healthy it’s all good, it’s easier that way, what’s the worry?? If she wouldn’t be eating verges or fruits, that would be an issue. Does she try new foods at other people’s house? Thanks for the playlist composition, I will use it! Already tried the banana pancakes, complete win, totally easy.

Kayla maybe try other protein sources for Riley such as beans, seafood, turkey, liver, beef? Also try different cooking methods: air fry, baked, etc. Use different spices/herbs. I think also consistency is key. When its new to them they may shy away from it, but if you keep offering they sometimes will try it.

I have a picky eater too! It’s hard and so stressful but I give him vitamins so that makes me feel a little better. This is going to sound bad but I just will not feed him if he does not want what I have given to him. Eventually he eats it, I leave the plate where he knows and can reach without me making him or forcing him, a couple of hours later I’ll check his plate and he has eaten some if not all. Also, when I take him outside to play he comes back and will eat anything I give him, I take him out a couple of times a day just so he can eat 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I mean it’s also good for him he has so much energy and I get to exercise too!

No advice but just want you to know that as toddlers/kids my brother and I were as picky as Riley and now he eats most things and I'll eat everything. Eventually she will eat more, even if she's picky for now! My mom had a cookbook about sneaking vegetables into everything, our taco meat always had sneaky shredded carrots in it.

I have a picky little boy. We ended up putting him feeding therapy “ there is more to the story behind it” however, in Riley’s case it may be helpful to get an evaluation to see if she is a good candidate. It doesn’t mean something is wrong with her or she will be labeled her whole life. It will just give her the nudge to be more brave around the food. It has really helped our two and a half year old. We still do struggle but it’s gotten a lot better. Good luck!
