So I filmed this video to get honest and transparent with you guys all about toddler feeding and share some things I’ve done in our home that’s made toddler feeding feel A LOT less stressful for me. I cannot stress ENOUGH that it's NOT your fault if your child is a picky eater. It's truly not! My oldest ate just about everything accept candy. She was that one child reaching for veggies at parties and I had almost nothing to do with it. Her sister is completely opposite. Super picky and wanting ice cream for breakfast which was the only dairy she would eat. She was such a challenge. The tips in this video are so great. My girls are grown now and I have a dozen nephews and a couple niece and I'm one of six kids. You're not alone if you're struggling to feed your child a balanced diet. Hang in there!

Thank you . I always feel like a bad mom for not giving my son enough veggies 🥺.my son is so picky. I keep looking up videos and different ways on how to feed him stuff that are good for him .
Tip: if your kid ever asks to try a food they have never like before, let them and see if you can watch the videos they are watching and see what food is being eaten in that show, this has helped my youngest brother get interested in new foods as he will ask for specific foods he’s seen his favorite characters eat.

@@Love12464 same for me. Got intrested in sushi and donuts because of tv shows. Also still begging my mom to make spagetti taco's from iCarly but she find the food rather not handy to eat.
This was perfect for me. Nowadays I feel like feeding my one-year-old is my full-time job
I had a coworker who’s kids would ask her, “mom do I like ____?”, and she’s always reply, yes. 🤣

And this is why I bake with my kids. Quite often!
One mindset shift that helped me was viewing my daughter’s nutrition across a week, rather than a day. Some days it felt like she ate next to nothing, but the next day she’d eat more and a wider variety. That’s ok. Don’t feel bad if one day’s eating was not stellar. Evaluate a week’s worth of eating instead and I’m sure you’ll see they are eating better than you think.

Great advice
Yes!!!! 7 years in and I’m still shocked at all the food drama and ridiculous stress surrounding what I feed my family!! Never saw that one coming!
You hit the nail on the head with this one! My kids are older now, but as a new parent I felt the same way when it came to food. This advice is spot on!
I have a son Miles' age and also 1 year old twins. Feeding them is so exhausting, but I love when they learn to love something! Thanks for the tips Kallie!
Love all of these tips. I’ve read about them when I was preparing for BLW. My daughter is now 1.5y and we’ve been doing most of these things, but the reminder of the tips is always so soooo needed as well as your kind words about giving myself grace for not being an Instagram perfect mom. Thank you 💜
my toddlers ate veggies because we started serving them with a cheese sauce. If they wanted more cheese sauce (which they always did) they needed to have a veggie with it (ie: piece of broccoli) once the one or two pieces of veggie was gone they got more cheese sauce. As they got older we would reduce how much cheese sauce and eventually cheese sauce only came out at Christmas.
Omg thank you so much for mentioning grace!! That's so important and some days I'm literally standing in front of my fridge struggling because I have no idea what I'm going to feed my son that he'll actually eat or enjoy. Also I'm glad I'm not the only mom who struggled with eggs!!!
These tips will really help me with my nephews. While not actually toddlers anymore, they are very picky eaters and I would love to fix that. Thanks a bunch 🖤
I had it easy with my children when they were toddlers. It got abit complicated when they were older yet, I solved by having them go shopping for groceries and they started cooking. Seeing the cooking shows and them paying attention to how their favorites are prepared gets them eating again.
This video has come at a perfect time for me! My 16 month old son has 4 teeth coming in and becoming more independent. Thank you for reminding me that I can't control every aspect of my toddler's eating habits.
I have five kids and I still needed this. 😂 one of my twins is the pickiest eater and it isn’t something I had an issue with before. Do a dance and a jig and spin around. Tah dah! Pleeeeeaaasseee!!!! Loved the tips… and needed the reminder to be gentle with myself, lol. Much love. 💕
I have thought about why we have so much stress about how much/what they eat. I think it stems from when they are newborns and they hammer into you how you need to make sure they eat every 2-3hrs and you are not going thrive if you don't and its hard to transition out of that mindset

Yes! My doctor actually told me I needed to introduce bottles after the 2nd day breastfeeding. I was so pissed. They do not always know what's best. A couple days is not enough to know if we have enough milk.. im clearly still salty lol

@@danielle7729 same for me! My milk supply was low and by day 3, DOCTOR said I HAVE to use formula otherwise my son could become jaundice, end up in ER, etc. Made me feel like a terrible mom. I still constantly worry if he is getting enough vitamins and nutrients- and he's almost 3 years old!

How old are your babies. My oldest is turning 29, I was told to stop breastfeeding because he was jaundice. To pump out my milk so I would restart after he was better. Science has shown that breastmilk has enough water to flush out the jaundice quicker than any formula. I was told back then that if you had a C-section or your baby was premature formula would be the standard because of the medication you got for the C-section. Two of my children were C-section and three were premature. My first child was ¼ formula and ¾ breast till 10 months. My second child only breast feed till 1year 5 months. My most premature, C-section baby who stayed at hospital was exquisitely giving breast milk till about 3 years old. My last baby also C-section, premature and had a hard time gaining weight (only the 1st month) was also breast feed till three years old and is the heafty, healthy, and not overly or under weight. So, I breast feeded for about +7½ years of my life. I know that, formula is an option, but not the best in my eyes. People start saying they we guit-trip into and that they were made to feel they were not good parents if the formula feed. So, now they say " a feeded baby is a happy baby is a healthy baby. " I am forward to breastfeeding because the science showed that your milk changes as your baby's needs change. They at one point tried to make different formula for different ages but, it took sometime for babies to transition. It was more expensive to produce too. I know that when you baby is sick your milk changes to help heal. That is why with the knowledge I acquired, I feeded my children longer. Never 2 children at once because, they would both have different needs. Had I had twins, yes, I would had definitely only breastfeed too.
I always "fight and then just give up" when my toddler goes for food on my plate. I found then he's over the moon vs if I just say yes. IDK not know why lol. Also when he start cooking has helped a lot
As a mother of two grown children and an 8 year old grandchild you had wonderful ideas!! Parents need to parent with grace, grace for your children and yourself! Kallie your videos are fantastic. 😊
Love this video. My son is 2.5 and eating is quite the struggle. Love these ideas and will definitely be implementing them.
I needed this video so much! I am a FTM with a young toddler, and getting him to eat new things has been a big struggle. Thank you for the help!
Hello!☀️Great tips!🙌My two youngest were picky eaters. I think when they got older they were more willing to try new things. It’s tough feeding kids that are picky, but it gets better hang in there!💖
Changing the appearance of foods have made the difference for me! Once I started cutting things into shapes for my 2 year old, he started eating them! I just take scissors to make hearts, circles, and triangles. Game changer and less stress for me to take this extra step to get him to eat new things.
I'm in school for speech-language pathology and part of our scope of practice is pediatric feeding. I can't speak from a mom perspective so please keep this in mind. But I totally agree with everything you said :) variety is key but don't overfret if they eat the same thing consistently (example being they want noodles every day). The fact that you're putting new foods/previously rejected foods on the plate is AMAZING. Part of the feeding process is them getting messy, which I know makes meals quite the process. Plus, playing with the food (example, Miles feeding Kallie) is a trick that might be missed. My heart for speech-language pathology, tiny babies, and Kallie loves this video!!!
Fantastic insight Kallie. I'm pushing 60 years old and I learned a few new things. Great job.
There's a book that really helped my with this, called Hungry Monkey. It's written by a Seattle dad/food critic about his adventures in feeding his toddler/young child Iris some of his eccentric favorites. He's a lot further along than we are in the child-rearing process, and he has a really calm attitude toward food that rubs off on you in the book.
So timely for the grandchildren (2yrs and 10 months) who are visiting next week!
Thank you for this video! Awesome advice. I have a 2 year old myself (almost 3) so it is nice to hear another mom share tips and struggles!

I’m 36 weeks and have a 1.5 year old. The thought of having one more task to tend to makes me want to cry honestly. You’re a hero.
My son is 19 years old now and was a picky eater. He now eats carrots, broccoli, turkey and even SUSHI! I never would have dreamed this day would come. Keep the faith!! 🤗
Coming from someone who has been working with this age group in various capacities for decades, Great list!!
Our daughter is a very picky eater. I’ve realized that by making things more appealing for her, she is more likely to eat them. For example, in our house she gets princess pancakes, which is pancakes with a few sprinkles on top. Also, taking her to the farmer’s market and letting her “buy” veggies helped us introduce her to a variety of them. For example, the first time she had cucumber is when she bought some from the market and proceeded to eat an entire cucumber on our way home. Also, relating or using words of things that they normally eat to introduce them to other foods. For example, she refused to eat a homemade burger until we sold it to her as a sandwich (a concept she was already familiar with). Great content!!!
love these tips! I agree dinner time at the dinner table even with a 2 1/2 its rough!! breakfast is more calm

You’re the best. Always love your content!
My 4 years-old has been refusing to eat for 2 years and a half. If it's not cereal, toast, mac and cheese, spaghetti, chicken nuggets, chicken noodle soup, pizza or grilled cheese, he wants none of it. And all of those meals have to be prepared exactly how he likes it otherwise he won't eat at all. They say a kid won't let itself starve. They never met my son. Sometimes he goes to bed having eaten only his breakfast. We tried everything, and are still trying: cooking with him, discussing food (name, colour, texture, smell), presenting the meal differently, not pressuring or giving too much attention, making silly faces with his food, separating each part of the meal in his plate/different bowl. Nothing works. His doctor is baffled. He won't eat anything, not even taste and the list of what he accepts to eat has been dwindling (before he ate cheese, crackers, apple, yogurt, etc). We're waiting to see a specialized nutritionist. It has nothing to do with texture either because he won't even put it in his mouth. It seems to be to be more for attention/power hence why I don't give him the opportunity to have that when he acts out at the table. I redirect the conversation to other stuff. Sometimes, they're just like that.
Perfect timing for this! My 17 month old is becoming more and more picky! He is also in a stage of throwing food which is frustrating.
Good tips, thank you so much. Blessings to you 🙏
I am a 64 year old Mom with a grown daughter and I am enjoying your videos.
Thank you for saying the things you did about family dinners. That is my biggest mom guilt thing. I grew up with family dinners and I know how important that family time is for kids. But right now with my second child, my work schedule is very difficult. I am not able to pick her up from daycare until 6pm and then it usually takes about 30 minutes to find street parking in our neighborhood, so I usually don't walk in the door until close to 7pm. She is exhausted and hungry, and wants to nurse. But she is two years old so I know she need to eat something in addition to nursing. However, she will not let me put her down at all once I pick her up from daycare, so I cannot cook. The best solution I have found is to buy her a snack on the walk home from daycare (usually a roll from the bakery and a banana), then nurse her when we get home, and she falls right asleep. Then I can cook dinner for my older son and I. If I try to cook dinner first when we arrive home, she will cry the whole time and then not sleep until 9 or 10pm because she is overtired. I figure her sleep is more important than having a sit down dinner during the week. 🥴
Great ideas-Have an awesome day! OMG! What a cute little lumberjack!
Beautiful and valuable tips. Thank you. God bless u and ur family. I am a grandmother, and tips like this are so great. Thanks again. 🙏❤️👏👍🌟
I feel like this video was made for me. My one year old literally wont eat anything. This gave me hope for the future and good tips. :)
Yrssss thank you so much for this; cause lawdy! I needed some tips lol
Those are some amazing tips. For older children, another way of ”tricking” them into eating esp. veggies is to serve it while they play. I’ll casually put a bowl of carrot sticks, kohlrabi sticks, beans, cucumber, snack size pieces of cabbage or any sort of veggies right by her while she’s concentrated on something fun and say “have these if you want!” and then leave. She’ll pick at them and nibble them until they’re all gone. I know, I know, mindful eating is awesome and this is quite the opposite, but she gets some nutrients in her and I can relax if later she mostly eats carbs for dinner. Works great when she has friends over too, especially if I put some time into making it look pretty.
His camo bib is so cute!!!
I needed to hear this 🙌thank you
We love hello fresh the foods/recipes are SO good!!!!
My two oldest were super picky. They lived off peanut butter and jelly and fruit for years. My youngest ate almost everything. My boys are now grown and eat well. They outgrew their picky eating. 💜❤️💚.

Give yourself grace! Amen sister 🙏 🙌 ❤ And apparently the mom guild never goes away!! Lol
So helpful. Will try these and let you know how it went
Yes I agree 100% give yourself grace. There are no comparisons. I like your wrap idea. Let them feed you LOL, that sounds fun! I use to not stress about what my 4 ate at this age because I use to give them homemade muffins which had the foods I wanted them to have hidden in them. Them I would slowly introduce the foods in other ways and I guess because I was relaxed it was not stressful! The children were all different though and still are! There are those picky eaters and those very adventurous eaters LOL - Great video and topic.. I have a few friends I will direct here... :)
I have two sons one nearly two and a half and one nearly 9. Neither of them have ever been fussy eaters because they haven't been allowed to be. In my house it's eat what you're given or don't eat and since they don't want to be hungry I have never had a problem. I have never done separate meals at separate times. Tea time is 5:30 and we all sit together and eat the same, after all I'm a mum not a short order cook. I have never understood the concept of toddler meals, he just gets a smaller portion of what the rest of us are having.
@Love12464

Good for you! 👏 smaller portions of the food you eat is actually considered a toddler meal. It just means smaller portion. So technically your giving you children toddler meals.
For quite a while, my kids ate food like appetizer time, little bites with toothpicks, little dipping included. Also, if one does not like green beans, don’t worry. Boot camp forced him to finally got him to eat them. He still eats them. 😊
Thank you!! My 2 year old is sooo picky! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
One of my tips is dont put on there plate put it on yours. My little one will ask evertime to try what im eating but if i put the same thing on her plate and mine she wont try hers or mine.
Thank you for this.
My kids don’t eat meat. I can only get them to eat processed meat like like nuggets, fish sticks and deli meat. They’re mostly vegetarian. Meat is the one thing they will always give to the dog. They’re doctor isn’t concerned based off blood work and height and weight. So I relax more after their check ups.

I refused to eat meat when I was little and ended up growing out of it :) as long as your kiddos are healthy, keep giving yourself grace! They might even come around later in their life too, like I did.
I would get my son's friends (or family of same age) over to eat lunch or dinner together. I ask what they would like to eat by giving them choices or pictures to choose. This helped my son eat foods he might not have eaten.
This was so helpful
Thanks for the great video!! 😊💚😊💚

Miles is so adorable
Oh how I wish I had heard this when my child was younger. He was what I like to call a super taster. He was very sensitive to touches of things and textures and did not like anything with much taste. I had grown up where we ate what was put on our plate, no question. So I attempted that with my child. He was very stubborn and so was I. Every meal was a struggle and unpleasant. I should have been more forgiving for both of us. Would have saved so much angst.

You're doing a good job Mom
i love these tips. my 8 month old is always putting her grubby hands in my food. lol an it works.
Yesss my son loves ranch. So I put ranch on damn near everything to get him to eat it lol
My daughter went from eatting everything to eatting nothing but junk. I try so hard to get her to eat real food 😭
Is that like a standing eating chair? Miles is in it while eating.
with my son he hates eggs, he will gag if he sees them. So what i do is make french toast, i dip the bread into eggs. zucchini fritters (they get veggies and theres eggs in them) or smoothies mixing in spinach and other things. cheezits made of cauliflower, basically finding the things he does like and sneaking things in to make it heathier and get him stuff he wouldnt eat separately
My oldest is an ok eater, she is not adventurous but she likes a few veggies at least. My youngest is THE PICKIEST, he refused veggies from day 1 of weaning at 6mo, pureed or whole. Feeding him is the hardest thing ever, and he only eat veggies if hidden (mac and cheese with pureed sweet potatoes or squash, "dino pancakes" with some blended spinaches in, zucchini and cheese savory muffins, pasta with tomato sauce and some blended veggies added in...). It can be so frustrating.
I tried everything and my son will be 5 in Oct. I tried doing everything "right". I made all.of his baby food homemade and he ate it all up. Broc, carrots, sweet potato, green beans, you name it. He ate white bean chicken chili and other healthy dinners I would make. He won't eat anything but mac and cheese, grilled cheese, occasionally pb and j, and cheese quesadilla (I tried sneaking beans or whole grain tortilla but nope lol). Just know that sometimes no matter what you do, this still happens.
our brain needs time and experience to decide if we like something or not, if was reading somewhere that we need to taste more than 20times before we develop a preference ....
My toddler is the worst eater. Sometimes it's hard to even get her to even eat in a day. But you did make me feel better cuz I thought it was only my daughter and I did something wrong. Unfortunately my daughter will not eat a sandwich or wrap she just does not bite into them or anything. But I'm going to try some of your tips hopefully they will help thanks for the tips. PS I love your channel I watch it all the time.
My boy is not into eating meat right now. He will always eat ikea Swedish meatballs with jam on it. Lol I was inspired by a hello fresh meal that had a chicken sauce made with jam.
I am 63 and i have two grown up girls now…. The eldest ate everything (she wasn’t a picky eater at all!!!) but my youngest was a very picky eater .Even though they were raised the same way …they were different…..today(36yr old and 31) they eat everything…. I just went with the flow and fed her what she liked…i would alway try to introduce her to new things but not successful ( i had 4 meals that she ate …i would consistently be making 2 different meals every time…..i don’t regret it and i didn’t feel guilty …i just went with the flow…..

Thank you for all your videos, I find it really helpful. Funny enough, my toddler is very similar to yours in many things including refusing eating egg (and avocado) up to 2 years of age :D and same fussy with meat etc. Eggs example gave me hope that one day she'll eat meat again
My daughter is 2-years old toddler she's a picky eater I tried everything in the store she will not eat it at all should try macaroni and cheese or french fries eat that but she won't eat like her veggies and other stuff like chicken scrambled egg she won't eat pancakes she would not eat at all I even tried the baby crackers in the baby section so eat those so she would eat those I even tried the protein milkshake drink that they having a baby section sure drink that I even tried making oatmeal for her she'll eat a little bit in the rescue and not touch at all I even tried buying carrot oranges she won't eat it at all she'll suck on it at this point I really need some good advice at this time being as a mom
