What my Baby Eats in a Day | Meal Prep | Cook with me
So I decided to make a vlog about what my baby eats in a day. I’m taking it slow in transitioning my baby’s meals from soft food to something solids like what toddlers can eat already. As a first time mom, I do get anxious sometimes of what and how I should prepare my baby’s food because what I often see in social media are babies who does the BLW style and eats so well skipping the reality of what other moms experience.
Not all babies eat well, not all babies finish their plates. Some of the food all end up on the floor, some have difficulties eating solids. Some just want milk.
What’s important is we watch over our babies, observe the cues, go with the pace that they can take. Let us not pressure other moms if their babies still take purees or very soft foods. I believe babies will eventually grow and learn to eat just like us adults.
My baby’s weight stayed still for a few months and up until now I struggle with choosing the right formula and making him drink through a bottle or sippy cup (as he is EBF). Ofc, I had that checked with our pedia and she has advised us on what to do. I initally wanted to do BLW style but I guess my priority was for my baby to gain weight and if I do the BLW style, my baby couldn’t take as much food (maybe even none at all) since BLW starts with babies exploring the food. I was not sure if it was my milk supply dropping or what but the difficulty of also transitioning him to formula made his pedia suggest that he eats well and even takes snacks in between. Therefore, I had to do spoon feeding. He started so well with self-feeding with preloaded spoon till he started teething and ended up just wanting to bite the spoon, play with the food and then get cranky on his highchair.
I do combo feeding now. For breakfast, I got back to letting my baby self-feed. So I offer soft finger foods most of the time. He always ends up eating only small amount and the rest, he plays with the texture and throws on the floor. I let him be but I still get a spoon and make sure he still eats even half of what I prepared.
For lunch, I do the feeding but I prepare meals with texture and now I’m slowly feeding him rice that would make him chew before swallowing. Lunch time is when he eats the heaviest. I’d assume it’s to make up for what he didn’t eat for breakfast😂.
For dinner, most of the time I do purees. Dinner time is when he is most cranky and fussy and by that time of the day, I tend to get overwhelmed already so I do the puree and feed it to him. That way, I can ensure myself that he is still getting the nutrients he could through the food that he eats, less mess to clean and go straight to playtime then bedtime.
My baby has his own eating and drinking issues as he tends to swallow what he eats right away. I think he is too lazy to chew? Hahaha I dont know but I’m happy that he loves squash and all types of meat with rice😂 (Authentically asian I must say). I’m happy that eventhough he is not so good at self-feeding, he does know how; he just has his preferences and got used to me feeding him most especially if he likes the food. I guess he doesn’t have much patience to pick the food up and just wants to eat right away 😂.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the vlog and see you on the next one!♥️
