What Makes Us Uniquely Human? | Erwin Raphael McManus | TEDxSanDiego
Erwin challenges us to understand that we are naturally creative, that we are the only species that is capable of creating our own future. We, in fact, have the power to materialize the invisible, to create that which we can imagine. And we also have the capacity to imagine ourselves different that we are, better than we are. In the end, the question is not “Will we create?”, but rather, “What will we create?”
Erwin Raphael McManus was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and lives in Los Angeles, California with his beautiful wife Kim. He is known for the integration of creativity and spirituality and the pursuit of what it means to be truly and fully human. He is the founder of MOSAIC, an expression of the church born out of Los Angeles, California. MOSAIC is known for its commitment to beauty, creativity, diversity, and social entrepreneurism and has been named one of the most influential and innovative churches in America. Erwin is the author of several books including his most recent bestseller, The Artisan Soul-Crafting your life into a work of art.
He holds a BA in psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Southeastern University. Erwin loves life and longs for every human being to live fully alive.

Powerful and true. Very important ideas in the world. Can be world changing if people embrace it.
Its more important to Imagine & go create than to reflect & regret wow so true.
I have watched this 5 times in a row. I cannot stop crying. Humanity needs to Wake up. Our Media is creating problems that shouldn't exist. Wars are being waged with no regard to the Refugees. Lets Stick together Folks... ONE WORLD.. ONE RACE.. ONE LOVE

One of the most amazing talks I’ve ever heard ❤
Love how this began with anthropology & psychology and ended as a call to arms! (or, the #ArtisanSoul equivalent: a "call to tools"?) This is a Human Manifesto.
Erwin is one of the greatest thinkers and leaders of our day. Thank you for this message!!
What he said about evil men is so true!!! I wish more people could hear that.
If you give me love and imagination, I can change the world. Good stuff.
From Malaysia, Asia, planet Earth, I accept and advocate with Erwin, that we can choose to have a future where joy, health and creativity are daily norms that sustain the productions of every breath, every heartbeat and every birth of geniuses forever.
What a great speaker 😲 I had a Goose bumps! At the last part...🙏
Pitifully this video doesn't have too much views. It's Incredible...
Such a powerful ending! Majority of the creations are helpful to humankind but not very much to the environment and other animals that live in their ecosystems. We are depleting so much of the earth resources than earth can replenish and it's very unfortunate where this is all is going. It's true we all have a responsibility and have to take action one way or another to the best of our ability that'll be beneficial to our environment. Whether that's spending less time in shower to conserve water, taking public transportation or eating less meat or simple as recycling. It may be small but if we all do something small it will add up although cannot undo the harm we have done to our environment, the forests we have destroyed, the water we have polluted but at least we will reduces our footprint.
Erwin is the Ultimate
Erwin is the best. Get any of his books. Get your highlighter ready. God bless him!
how does this not have at least 100k views already
I have wondered for a long time where we as a species fit in to the big picture for a long time. This one man and his soaring imagination has enlightened me more than I ever hoped for.
He is an excellent speaker, and this is a much needed message in our world today. As globalization continues to being a force for efficiency and conformity in the world, we must never forget these important implicitly human traits we have.
We as human beings have seemingly unlimited potential until something unfortunate happens and then we must adapt which naturally gives us more potential. We are the personification of potential. Whatever it is that we are good at and can survive from will be our destiny until an unfortunate event which will subsequently cause us to adapt as individuals in order to survive. We are the ultimate survivors. We are god like.
Thank you Erwin, that is really beautiful.
BEST OF THE BEST ! Love it !
Powerful.
This is such a powerful talk in understanding what wonderful capacity we have for taking the unimaginable and intangible and making it a reality
I am from Africa,I haven't had exposure to the clicking language yet. But we do have to speak at least 3 languages to get by. I speak 7, and I am working on 3 more.

What would happen if humanity would understand who they are and what they were born to do? What would the world be like?
I just watched his amazing message from Australia live online at the 7 pm Saturday service at Lakewood church in Houston Texas.

Los leones casi no casan gacelas, son los guepardos los que lo hacen.
i learned English on youtube around when i was 12-13 years old
Twas a great speech but I was somewhat disappointed with the entire event. There were a lot of motivational speakers, which is great, but from the description of the event it sounded like we were going to hear people talk about what life is actually going to be like in 2020. Along the lines of new technologies and research being present in 2020.

It all begins with Imagination, the seed of progress....
Well, one of the most difficult languages, English...I would say, look just at Romance languages just for a comparison
Did not get what is this all about...
You should speak at the White House.
“God bless” ((; freakin love this dude. He sheds the love of jesus without even bringing the topic up.

One of the most difficult language to master
I hate how he jumps topics.
This is insane. I was raised under good Bible preaching. Nothing this guy said is a new revelation to me. From the comments it must be to many others. It’s like he takes the most basic ideas, teachings, precepts, facts, truths, observations…that are all taught in the Bible…and turns them into a motivational talk…without ever mentioning THE CREATOR, His gift to us, AND OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HIM.
Vlimate change hoax.
Green New Scam.
Crazy how Africa talks "click click tok lik". Such a huge country with one Khoisan Language. 😐
