What Makes Teslas So Safe

3:38 Autonomy level explainer:
Tesla's Autopilot is currently classified as Level 2 autonomy based on the SAE International scale referenced in the video. The full self-driving (FSD) software is a major improvement, however, it cannot (yet) be categorized as Level 3 autonomy.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “the major distinction between L2 and L3 is that at L3, the vehicle is designed so that the driver is not expected to constantly monitor the roadway while driving.”
Since drivers are expected to constantly monitor the road at all times during beta tests of Tesla’s FSD software, the vehicles are not quite at Level 3, though they're certainly moving in that direction.
For a detailed explanation, please refer to page 8 of the following document (aka page 2 based on the internal numbering of the PDF): www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot...

What do you think of Waymo's claim that Tesla will never make a fully autonomous car? P.s. @1:54 is actually a Model 3 rather than a Model S. When researching the story, I went off of the police department’s social media post which said it was an S. Thanks to my viewers for spotting the difference! - Cindy

Sure. I think people are exaggerating. I mean it is cool to have an autonimous car. To let the car drive without needing to steer the wheel, while driving on the same highway for hours. However, on short-run it is also good to control the car by yourself. The autonimous thing wouldn't save your time anyway.

@@Zubayer_Islam_Rezoan Of course it's relevant. We're talking about the safety of cars, and the lack of safety of the porche is worth pointing out as a lot of people tend to glamorize the thing when it has obvious design flaws. With that said, even if it weren't relevant, how many times have people posted absolute nonsense in KZread comment sections? Chill bruh.

@@20_percent Elon Musk is doing a great job but the way you are representing him saying, "wasting his money for us to stay in the future" just stop there right a sec dude. Elon Musk is not a Prophet or a Messiah, he is just a simple guy who is by using his money making futuristic things which is providing him a lot of money. So, don't make Elon Musk a Messiah or Prophet of this world, he is a businessman making money, that's it. Don't blindly say someone is a Prophet or Messiah.

When's the last time you saw a Billionaire sell all his properties and get a salary of $0 from his biggest and the world's fastest growing company? He's by no means a Prophet or a Messiah, but he is one of, if not the best Billionaires out there. Looking out more for the environment than for his own pocket.

@@the65thpotatooverlord15 I am not disagreeing with you, obviously Elon Musk is doing a lot of things, I like Elon Musk too, but, some people are highlighting him too much. You say Elon Musk is giving up money, Bill Gates has the biggest Charity which is called, "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" which gives Huge amounts of money in Africa and other poor countries. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet both of them will donate 99% of their wealth in charity after their death, nobody is talking about that, but people are praising only Elon Musk, even some people has made Jeff Bezos an evil character 😂 Oh my God!! As if, Elon Musk is a saint 😂. Look, Elon Musk is a great man, no doubt about that, but, some people are overreacting about the fact that Elon Musk is the **ONLY** saviour of Humankind... LOL!!! A biggest scam!!! Many Billionaires are spending money to make lives better for the people but they are not getting Highlighted.

I support innovation, and Tesla is at the forefront. We must criticize heavily in order to get better results, and competition is the best way to do that. I had the amazing opportunity to drive a Tesla 2021, and I was surprised. A lot of great features and an overall unique experience. One thing that I did notice that the touchscreen was not exactly in good quality. The touch feedback was not as responsive as it must be. On top of that the computer seemed to be slow or delayed. Like watching KZread and reverting back to other apps and features caused freezing and delays. For a car's main function being reliant completely on the touchscreen, it's no excuse that the touchscreen should be in top shape and standard. That is my only criticism, for now.

The touchscreens themselves aren't what's failing, but the flash memory chips that the computer uses to store and retrieve information that is then sent to the display. This prevents the computer from being able to send data to the screen or receive inputs from it. Not a critique, just a mention.
