What Makes "Grass-Fed" Milk Different? | MD F&H

Ғылым және технология

n this story, we learn all about how grass-fed milk is produced at Woodbourne Creamery in Mount Airy. Understanding grass-fed milk production is important because factors such as these can cause differences in milk coloration, omega3 fatty acid production, and fat content. Positive impact can also be seen in both the cows and farmland as Farmer John Frederick can attest. He uses a system called “Managed Intensive Grazing” which relies on an organized approach that divides the pasture into sections, so each patch iis given ample time to recover after the cows graze it. When travelling between these particular pastures, cows pass through a robotic milking station. Modern day farming technology allows for cows to be milked, fed supplemental feed, and cataloged with ease so that they may enter newer grassy areas and continue grazing.

I still dont understand why pasteurizing IS mandatory when raw milk IS infinitely superior and also dont spoil, It only ferments which IS very good for your gut.

it can spoil if not stored properly and a lot faster than pasteurised, also pasteurising kills a lot pathogens, but i agree with you, i use raw milk myself

my dad said that when he was growing up, the milk they had from their Guernsey would produce orange milk. I believe thats the origin of cheddar that we recognize today, BUT cheese makers figured they could squeeze a few more dollars by producing orange cheddar by adding annato to it, instead of the original way, by having high beta carotene cheese/milk to begin with. I was using grass fed milk a2a2 milk, a few years ago, but a friend made me conscious of the reaction of my saliva with the milk, it made it a bit thicker, and that just grossed me out, so I stopped that (it originated from his story about the sludge or something that would come out of milk when they passed it through some kind of filter. I guess I'll just "man up" and go back to it again, it is a thicker richer milk and so, maybe thats normal, I was doing it all along before and it didnt bother me, only when he made me a bit more conscious of it)

it's sad that i grew up in a world where even something as innocuous as cheese is twisted into some kind of stanic imitation of the real thing

I can't drink most milk in the USA without having digestive issues, but I tried some grass fed milk from Organic Valley and haven't had any issues. I was also fine drinking milk in Israel, where I had at least one cappuccino or latte nearly every day for the whole trip.

Have you considered vertical farming? There is a dairy farm in Utah that adopted vertical farming. In NY the dairy farms use cow poop to generate electricity as well.

  • @lucadellaquila6889

@@Wolverine8091 You know milk whether it's organic or conventional all contain naturally occurring hormones like prolactin for example, organic milk may have lower levels but they are still present. Some hormones are enzymes the body needs to break down biological bacteria to digest properly. Also living in the USA, since it's one of the few countries in the world that use growth hormones in their dairy products, many countries around the world ban growth hormones in their dairy products including importing dairy from America. Want real good milk buy it from outside of America. Antibiotics are used in all livestock to combat infections and viruses, more than half the time they just get dosed up with penicillin, which our bodies recognize, unless you have allergy to it then you should stay away from most dairy/animal products. Added antibiotics are against the law and highly monitored by the FDA and milk companies require strict mandatory testing each year guaranteeing the milk arriving at grocery stores never contain antibiotics and GH.

You get used to the taste pretty quick. It's just like the bitterness of coffee and beer for me. Your brain learns to tune it out and only taste the good stuff after a bit. Now when I drink non-grassfed it tastes like something is missing.
