What lives along this Norfolk Chalk Stream?

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Rivers are one of the best places to find wildlife in the UK, and Chalk streams are internationally recognised for their biodiversity value. Come along as I take an early Autumn wildlife walk along the River Tiffey in Wymondham, Norfolk in search of any animals that can the area home.

Liam, I have to tell you I was once involved in a project to scare birds away from North Sea oil platforms were they cause great hazzards for the personnel who work there. My best suggestion was to point a camera or a pair of binoculars at them. You and I know this is the best method of getting any bird to take flight. 😂😂😂

This is great! Norfolk is SUCH a lovely county, so rich in wildlife habitats. We in that lardy London are envious of you, we seem to have lost our mandarin ducks, now, you may say, "why should you, in that lardy London, deserve to have mandarin ducks, whilst all we've got are Chinese water deer, kingfishers" and so on and so forth, but we DID have the above species, and now we don't, I think.. Nice one Liam. 😁⭐👍

Wow what a surprise I thought Herons only lived off of the fish in my pond.(the amount that goes missing I think I'm feeding dozens) Small wildlife? Amazing. We have Buzzards and Monkjacs at Crickley Hill Gloucestershire. I remember the culling of Rabbits in 1950s because of Myxomatosis. Oh my gosh those jokes were really cringeworthy. You are going to make a great dad.❤❤❤ Thought you would use your thermal scope again. Look like a great piece of kit.

As well as a couple of other thongs. I usually knit most of the year, but the yarn changes with the seasons. This year I discovered linen yarn and have knitted several tee tops from ot. You can, I have found, knit with ot on the warmest of days

I was just today commenting on a fishing video (also from Britain) on how difficult I find to video or even photograph a Kingfisher. They're so fast to run away almost as soon as they spot me. And of course, on one occasion I didn't have my camera ready, it was bathing and even caught a fish 5-10 meters away from me, closest I've ever seen it.

I have had similar difficulties getting a decent picture of a Kingfisher. One way that has worked for me is to find a likely overhanging branch and then set myself low on the bank with as much camo netting over myself and the camera as possible. The more comfy and camoflaged the better as sitting for a while in the same spot isn't always easy..Having the sun behind you is helpful for a better picture too :)

@@stuross8190 😀 I have not yet become that dedicated (camo netting)... The thing is, most of my bird photography near the river, I'm with my doggo. Even when she's not scaring the wildlife (intentionally or unintentionally), a big part of my focus goes on her. I like what you wrote btw, sound advices 👍

Tip for the Kingfishers, Use the Pole across / over the water then wait. A new pole to a Kingfisher is candy to them... they want to try them to see how well they work.

Hello. Most of the videos are copyright free, and you are free to use footage from this one too if you would like... but do not just download it and reupload it without adding anything- That will not help your channel grow and is too lazy. When you search for videos in the youtube search bar, you can add a filter to only show Creative Commons videos. The condition of using them videos is that you need to put a link to the original in any video you use it ins description.
