David De Gea has made some high profile errors over the years, but he's a Manchester United legend regardless, during the post Sir Alex Ferguson era, he's been one of the vert few Manchester United players that have actually produced and he saved them on so many occasions in goal. He should've been treated properly and his exit wasn't handled the way it should've been and he deserved better from the club. He was one of the best goalkeepers in the world during his peak and he was brilliant, but overall I think it was the right time for Manchester United to part ways with David De Gea. It's not just because of his mistakes and inconsistency, Erik Ten Hag wants a ballplaying goalkeeper and De Gea doesn't fit that mold and that's also a reason as to why he's been out of the Spain squad for a while, he hasn't played for his country since 2020, and his inability to play out from the back has contributed to his Manchester United exit and why he hasn't played for the national team in 3 years and he might never play for Spain again. He's great at making saves, but his distribution with the ball at his feet isn't good, and nowadays in the modern game being a good shot stopper isn't enough as you also have to be able to be good with the ball at your feet and he just didn't fit that and they're on the verge of signing Andre Onana a player who was critical in Inter Milan getting to the champions league final keeping the most clean sheets in the competition and he's able to play out from the back. He'll still be missed by Manchester United fans but they were right in ditching David De Gea.

As a Liverpool fan, they should have sorted this out in Dec/Jan already…then let him have his last few months to see it out properly, he might even have raised his game a more during the last few months, that would have been the right thing to do. Why does everyone assume ManU did him wrong. The parties negotiated for a while. Don't forget De Gea was on the highest wages of the club. What if he didn't want to take a step back. What if his agent and him felt they could get the same or higher wages and were playing hard ball, especially considering Champions League qualification, which likely if he were still in contract would have materially increased those already club leading wages. What if the club felt they weren't going to get anywhere near what they thought was value in the wage negotiation and started looking at options and realized from a long term perspective, there are potentially better options. De Gea is/was a great keeper, and provided many highlights and saved many games, he's a legend. But maybe this departure is the result of $$ and agents, not players and coaches.

Stevie needs to button it why is he getting so irate, oh right nevermind he's ex Liverpool the utter melt. Why would they resign De Gea when they've more or less had a free run at Andre Onana, £47m (€55m) for a quality keeper who would be on less wages than DDG and offer far more with his skill set. mate, with all due respect, you clearly haven't a clue. A GK position is the most important to ten Hag's system. We are WAY too easy to press against. City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, Brentford, Brighton, the list goes on...have an absolute field day against us purely down to having DDG in goal. He can't leave his six yard back and has zero command of his area, which in turn means we are way too deep in our own half and leads to us having to kick the ball long and back to the opposition. All you have to do is look at the two teams who have dominated the Prem for the past 6 years in City and Liverpool. As soon as they changed their keepers, they were completely different teams. Even Arsenal to an extent massively progressed last year because they could push much higher up the pitch due to Ramsdale being very confident with his feet and a very good sweeper keeper. If you can't see how DDG was holding United back, you'll soon realise when you start seeing the drastic difference in how we play once Onana comes in.

That's not true. All report show they were renegotiating a lower wage and had verbal agreements but Manchester never sent over contract. Personally, i think Onana will be a better keeper and hopefully they can integrate him well into the team.
