im a filipino who came to korea for travel and as a tourist.. these people in interview was so very polite and respectful. but i as a foreigner and as a filipino, when i went there they are not so friendly and will stare at you like your a trash, its better to go to a place where you can leave your things and lost it, than somewhere safe but with judgemental and racist people. well this is not a stereotype, its better to go to japan than korea.

Sad but true, Koreans need to get off their high horses or someday someone is going to yank them off, maybe one of their neighbors. This is something that we Filipinos and other neighbors of Korea need to teach them to help improve the Koreans, help them have better manners and help them be better people. Asians need to help one another be a better people and improve our continent's image.

That's true. Japanese people are more genuine and trustworthy. I have been there and I swear to God it's a place where you wanna go back again and again. Racism or colorism is not really rampant there unlike in Korea. Many people are saying that they're like the US of Asia and yet many Filipino fantards are fantasizing Kpop dramas and music, where in fact they look at us as garbages.

I studied English in the Philippines for a year and came back to Korea. In Baguio city. What I felt is that Filipinos are smart and kind. And they are always relaxed. So sometimes I envied it. I also thought that if I was born as a Filipino, I could live happily like this. In Korea, I sometimes hate myself for not being able to complete my work perfectly and quickly. I think their relaxed and positive attitude is the strength of the Filipino people. And When I came back to Korea, my friends said I looked relaxed. So I was happy. Perhaps Koreans who studied English in the Philippines have a good perception of the Philippines. However some Koreans still don't know exactly what kind of country the Philippines is.

Bryan Fuentes, i"ll answer you that. 3rd world coz PH hasnt much military power. Unlike Korea that had much assistance from US for military support. Korea have much investment also from US and its allies in exchange for being so submissive to US. PH has US bases but not fully submissive to US. Ph also lot of natural disasters being in the pacific that causes destruction and slowed economy for a while.

As a Korean, I would like to apologize for your feelings and thoughts. I studied in the Philippines before and I know how amazing their culture and natural environment is. First of all, in my defense, Korea has experienced very rapid economic growth, but I think there is still a lack of awareness and cultural education among the people, for example, foreign workers and people from other countries. I think this is something that we need to improve and learn in the future. But, I hope you know that not all Koreans are like that and there is always people love the culture of the Philippines. 🏝️🤍 Thanks to all of you have interested in Korean culture and sorry again for the disappointment, I hope one day, you'll forgive us and we'll be on good terms again.

Korea and the Philippines have deep rooted history that the younger generations are not aware of. I doubt the link will ever be severed permanently. Sadly, it is true that it may be fading as the older generations who knows the history are getting lesser and lesser.

Im Filipino American who worked in Korean a couple of years. They definitely look down on Filipinos. It always baffled me how Filipinos would put Koreans on a pedestal. Filipinos would choose KPop over their own local artist when their OPM would be true art, they played inatruments, wrote their own lyrics etc. They would even train in Korean martial arts when FMA is by far more effective. I think Filipinos even name a cut of meat Korean.

It’s really sad how Filipinos treat politicians like royalties due to misinformation and a really weak educational system that our government refuses to improve. Edit: It doesn't matter if the world has the same problems. We live in the Philippines and we have to make our government accountable. We only have ourselves, each other, and supposedly these people in power to watch out for us.

I'm Korean, and during my high school years (15 years ago), our school decided to have a school trip abroad, and students could choose where to travel. (Japan, China, Phillippines) I chose to visit Phillippines, and I absolutely loved it. I stayed in Manila Hotel, and we rode a small boat in a valley with a really lovely fall (there were even some monkeys) and went out to local markets to purchase tropical fruits. I still remember having fun at night in that hotel room with my friends, enjoying a box of mangos and affordable room-serviced ribeye steaks. What a lovely country and kind people. After that trip, I was told that Phillippines were richer than S.Korea in the 1960-1970s but had a sad history of the worst dictatorship. That story of the dictator's wife collecting thousands of super expensive shoes while the country suffered was even quite famous in Korea. Also, it is very furious that a few animal Korean guys visit Phillippines for prostitution. Ordinary Koreans wouldn't ever do such a thing, not only because it is morally wrong but also for their own safety. I hope the Korean government punishes these animals properly.

Thank you so much for saying good things about our country. One thing though, about the shoes they were locally made by the amazing shoemakers in Marikina (The Shoe Capital of the Philippines) and they are not super expensive. The shoes were gifts to the first lady Imelda Marcos for her contribution and support for these shoemakers and their products.

Actually the Philippines was the richest within the period of the "dictatorship" the opposers claim. After the removal of President Ferdinand Marcos was the downfall of the Philippines. It is true that Imelda did live lavishly, and it's because they were rich anyway and they can really afford it. Combined with the power of presidency, of course they lived like royalty but not to the expense of the Filipinos. What is out there are fabricated information to make Filipinos hate the Marcos..and it worked for many years. Now that they are back, it solely because of the fact that many Filipinos realized that they were tricked and was misled. We have hit rock bottom after the Marcos' were removed. Being able to see the difference of PH then and now...I can compare and say this with facts.

Having worked at S. Kor for almost 5 years I can say that their place is really safe. I find that they are: 1) respectful to their elders and boss to the point that they will obey whatever they say. 2) They are industrious, they work 10hrs everyday from monday to saturday. 3) They are kind and generous. Bonus: They keep their promise. They do not make a promise that they cannot do. They always help someone who made a promise to make it possible. They value their word of honor! Yes there are also some who has discrimination towards foreign worker and I can say that they treat a caucasian better than a south east asian. But in general koreans are a good and honest person! My experience working there is very positive! Kamsahamnida Dehaminguk!

I am Korean-American and several of my closest friends are Filipino-American. I absolutely love how warm, welcoming, friendly, and affectionate Filipino people are. I also visited Boracay in 2015 and I found that the local people were very friendly and helpful. Lots of love for the Filipino people.

As a filipino, hearing that Korea used to think that the Philippines was a "nearly unreachable role model" for economic development reallllyy made my heart sink :(( it's really sad to think about what's happening to the country today but I still have hope there's still some way we can change how things are right now, even if it seems like an impossible dream with all the odds stacked against us

Me too I’ve been praying for that as far as I can remember. I would always say “will I ever see the Philippines becomes an economic powerful country” guess only time could tell. Hopefully, I’d be still alive when that day comes. Filipino gov’t should watch this & learn from it. So they can start working on it in building for a better future. Para Wala ng mga DH or OFW with menial jobs. There’s no more stereotypes against us that we only do low paying job & we’re less educated & prostitution is more popular than being highly educated people. Please Bongbong Marcos make a huge impact to the Filipino people ( no corruption) & Pinoys give ur contribution too by being discipline & unity.

I like the Philippines and its people. Been there three times. Loved Banaue and Sagada. Beautiful country and friendly people. But if I’m being completely honest, there was one thing about the Philippines that didnt really sit well with me. It was that I had met so many Filipinos who showed pure favoritism towards foreigners… so many Filipinos who said they didnt like their own people and “prefer” foreigners…. It was disheartening and confusing for me to hear those things. If you ask me, I blame colonial mindset.

It depends on who u hang out with I suspect youngsters who are very much crazy over their foreign pop idols or some lower class people who are in awe of foreigners and think they are rich. We are very patriotic people and we are even willing to fight and die for our country. We don't even care about foreigners when we see them around as they are ubiquitous everywhere its a pretty common sight lol! Dont generalize Filipinos as being obsessed with foreigners because that is not true at all! Indeed there are still many with a colonial mindset and many critics who keep complaining about the government and every issues and who are submissive to foreigners, but they do not represent the majority of our people who are devoted to our country!

Filipinos who are usually in awe of foreigners belong to the low income bracket. They hv this very narrow mindset about foreigners coz of limited exposure. They think that all foreigners are rich, that becoz you are a traveling tourist, you must hv so much money, and for them all foreigners earn in dollars 😆😆😆😆. So yeah, they think like that becoz of limited knowledge about other people in other countries, becoz of their financial status.

I've been watching kdramas as a kid since Jewel in the Palace and Jumong were aired here in the Philippines. I feel like since most of our pre-colonial culture has been destroyed we have this internal hunger for knowing about where we belong and since those kdramas I mentioned showcased beautiful and easily accessible culture, we got fascinated by it making us interested in knowing Korea's current and past condition.

As a Korean, I write my thoughts about Filipinos. 1. The Philippines is a participant in the Korean War. 2. Filipinos played a huge role in spreading the Korean Wave to the West. I heard that the people who introduced Psy's Gangnam Style in English and spread it to the West were Filipinos. 3. The Philippines is helping the development of Korea's aerospace and defense industry. The Philippines is the first importer of FA50. The FA50 experienced its first combat experience in the Battle of Marawi, and Filipino soldiers unofficially praised the FA50's superiority to soldiers around the world. These actions have greatly contributed to the export of the FA50. 4. Filipinos always have a pure smile. 5. So I am grateful to the Filipinos. Nevertheless, if Filipinos suffer racial discrimination in Korea, I think it is because of the following reasons. 1. The story is widespread in Korea that when President Park Chung-hee visited the Philippines in the 1960s, he was ignored by President Marcos. 2. There are cases in which some Koreans with a low intellectual level engage in racially discriminatory behavior. If there are Koreans who are hostile towards Filipinos, I think it is because of the reasons #1 and #2. However, in the case of number 1, it is necessary to confirm whether it is true, and even if number 1 is true, it is a very minor mistake compared to the Philippines' participation in the Korean War. In the case of number 2, I apologize as a Korean. However, Koreans also face racial discrimination abroad. It's because there are people with low intelligence everywhere. Anyway, I like Filipinos. I hope that the friendship between Korea and the Philippines will deepen in the future.

As I remember president Marcos was elected 1965 when you're President visited in the Philippines 1960 maybe President Macapagal, at that time not Marcos!!

Not sure if the interviewees were particularly picked to say something about the Philippines but they all presented themselves as smart people with on-point comments about the Philippines, not to mention the kind wishes for the Philippines to improve and protect the Filipinos from sex tourists.

Because most of your countrymen only base their perception on what they see from the media and u know how the media loves to sensationalize the crime, drugs and inequality in the PH.

It's high time that Filipinos become more open-minded and less sensitive to criticism. These people who said negative stereotypes about the Philippines are coming from a good place, they said it with respect and good intentions. There are plenty of things as a county that we have to work on. Acceptance leads to change, and change leads to development. That is the simplest formula for development.

I like your attitude , it's a good way of thinking . Im a korean guy who grew up in s.america n spent my 20 's in usa , and i also experienced bad things . I grew out of it . We koreans are good , but we are also mean to ourselves too , China , korea n japan , we are very very different , as in character . I completely disagree with this. The idea underneath what you are saying is that there is something innately wrong with Filipino characteristics as a people that is why we are poor and under-developed as a country. And that we should change our character to be more like Koreans who are what? hardworking, on-time, be more light skinned so we can be as rich and successful as them? The reason why we are economically under-developed in comparison to South Korea is that the Filipino people are over-exploited by our own government. Please look up history. It’s only now that the economy is finally on the right track. What these Korean’s are saying is a wake-up call? We never heard them before? Filipinos don’t realize it’s bad? You’re over valuing what these Koreans are saying,. Don’t you know that Korea, despite being rich has so many problems of their own? They’re not happier than Filipinos. Filipinos are extremely hard working people. We are not lazy. Many of us go abroad, sacrificing not seeing our families, facing racism in places like South Korea so we can give our families a better future, and it’s working. It’s the people on top who screwed us over, not the Filipino people themselves. Koreans’ opinion’s about Filipinos? Koreans giving advice to Filipinos so we can be rich like them? We have separate paths and separate journeys to prosperity. The structures of our economies are completely different. We don’t need their advice. Like the past, it’s projected that one day the Philippine economy will be bigger and richer than South Korea’s. So we don’t need their advice. They should just worry about declining birthrates, lowering down suicide rates, and becoming world famous for their racism.

I'm Korean living in Canada but some of the most warm and friendly people I've met are Filipinos.

Well their stereotypes are pretty much the truth about our country.

I admire how logical these koreans answer the questions as well as the respect and politeness they show while being honest on their answers but developing or developed country like korea, we have relatively the same problems in our society comparing one from the other would be very difficult to do, at the end of the day it all depends on how an individual CHOOSE to look at a country and its people that matters.

South Korea is an affordale alternative to experience winter. I visited the country 4 times; ate authentic local dishes; saw famous landmarks/ filming locations and bought lots of souvenirs. People were generally polite but I never expected them to be overly accommodating or nice like what I usually see in k-dramas, which are superficial and a far cry from reality. So, go there without prejudice nor grand expectations. Just enjoy what the country has to offer! 🇵🇭 ❤ 🇰🇷

I used to live around Koreatown here and Angeles City and while I can't really generalize all Korean ex-pats here to be bad, I do have some honest opinions. Many businesses are catered to Koreans (which is not a problem IMO), but some Korean owners and staff look up and down at you for being Filipino when you enter their store, especially if you don't know any Korean. Like, excuse me, ma'am, last time I checked, you're the guests in my country. Wealthy Korean ex-pats or tourists also tend to look down on the Philippines. It just leaves a nasty aftertaste when they act so entitled and exclusive in a country they're guests in. But I guess that's the same wherever you go. It's not something that's exclusive to Korean ex-pats but also to other foreign ex-pats in the Philippines. Like I said, I'm sure there are a lot of Korean tourists and ex-pats so I hope they help bridge the cultural barrier and help raise awareness. I think a lot of the answers they got from the interview were interesting to hear. They were very eloquent and very on-point with their comments and answers.

I so agree with that guy who said that we should "export our culture". That's why it's so easy for other countries to look down on us because they only know Philippines for it's stereotypes. But with the crab mentality & corruption in our country, this would be very hard to & would take a long time to pursue. Filipinos need to change their mentalities as a first step to begin with, so we could think more progressively for the better of our own country. We need to elect better leaders who actually cares for our country and we need to focus on advancement, developments & innovations to be able to change & better our system, and make our country pretty or aesthetically inviting but sadly filipinos doesn't appreciate art that's why architecture doesn't grow in the country, making it hard to further do urban plannings. We need to be confident & embrace our culture too, because we always embrace others cultures first before ours, and we need to stop the inferiority, filipinos are such people pleaser and always bow down to foreigners, and foreigners always take advantage of it.

Most commercial films would focus filming in foreign locations to attract audiences instead of showing off our local tourist and cultural spots. Filipino authors are fighting so hard to gain attention from readers because most of us tend to read more English literature than those written in our local language. The music industry tends to favor and produce English songs than Filipino songs, although we are seemingly entering an era where younger music artists write songs in Filipino and are steadily gaining popularity among their generation, which is really commendable. In the age of social media here, it is quite hard to find content creators that focus on promoting our culture. There are many famous content creators here, but mostly because of their humor and spontaneity.

Yeah, and it's like they make it a point for the movie characters to be as westernized as they can and speak in english as often as they can. The moviemakers think that is what foreigner viewers want (if there are), when it's really the other way around - they would want to see our as much of our culture in our movies. That is perhaps the reason why it is our independent movies that get to be shown in foreign film festivals and never our mainstream movies.

Exactly. I am fed up with people continuously blaming the government..If they want to change they should start with themselves. May ginagawa naman ang gobyerno ngayon kumpara sa noon, pero malalim lang talaga ang ugat ng problema and it will not take months to solve them all but so many people even blaming the newly installed govt. That guy who mentioned about Philippines being portrayed as a country where bad guys would go and hide is true. I've watched countless films and dramas already, every single time, it hurts me. It shows how weak the security here in the Philippines. I remembered a line in a kdrama that goes something like "once they reached the Philippines (referring to bad guys) it will be hard to catch them. That's a lawless country."

I don't know if we have watched the same kdrama but I did remember watching one, it's about a father who was accused of murder not only once but twice (Although he sacrifice/ turn over himself for the first crime he never committed) and he was also a matched donor for his sick daughter. I forgot what it was but it did say in one of the episode that the he will safe in the Philippines something like that. At first I never understand anything about it's meaning and damn hell I admit I was even happy at the mention of our country! That just show how ignorant I am

Good, respectful and unbiased comments from the people who got interviewed. The woman in red jacket hit the spot on how PH was once a model country but politicians ruined it. The poor become poorer and rich become richer.

Considering that Koreans are used to be the first or second largest tourists in the Philippines, I think this country is one of the most lovable travel spot in holidays. I saw lots of Korean tourists in Boracay and Cebu. Hope that more Koreans enjoy their time and have a beautiful memory in the Philippines.

I’m Filipino and all i have to say is there will be those people who aren’t very good people in the Philippines, but that’s how it goes everywhere. Not everyone will be bad, but not everyone will be good. It just depends on who you are around and where you go in the Philippines just like many other places.

I’m Filipino American born in America and I visited Korea and have had both good and bad experiences. The main bad experience was the amount of racism I got based on my skin color. Customer service was decent but then again I was left without help in a lot of situations. I had a horrible situation in a taxi where the taxi driver was cussing at me and over charged the taxi and it was just not a great experience. It was awkward too when people would just stare at me walking in the streets like I committed a crime lol

When I visited the Philippines, I saw lots of Korean restaurants and Korean people. The locals also told me they love Korean drama, Korean culture has strong influence in the Philippines... I think the Philippines has been another popular country for Koreans to go besides USA when they want to study abroad or work in different countries.

@@pokepork7747 Indeed. When I visited Boracay, I noticed that some of their convenience stores had Korean drinks imported from Korea. And many Korean tourists there. And when I was talking to the locals, they often mentioned "F4" who they really like. They sometimes confused with F4 band that some of them thought it's Taiwanese and some thought they are Koreans.

There's always good and bad in a country. Like what they say, Koreans can also be tender. If you will ask for help from them they would and some wouldn't. Based on my aunt's experience while travelling there, there are lots of people who helped her. One time when she asked for direction but the guy can't speak english, so he accompanied my aunt to her destination. Some also can be bad like having a prejudice against other nationalities. In Philippines, there are also people like that. Some would really help you but others would try to trick you, knowing that you're a foreigner. Anyways, you can't expect people to be always good so don't expect much. But I do hope everyone will be nice or at least try to be.

Well put comment and i agree with you. Very country has its pros and cons. I hope we all meet more nice people than bad, as we travel or meet others from different countries.

All countries have their own dark and bright sides. There are 2.65 million tourists who visited the Philippines last 2022 and 428,014 of which are Koreans (they are 2nd in ranking after the USA in the No. 1 spot with a total of 505,089). There are a lot of Koreans living in the Philippines permanently too(ph statistics shows). Sad that only bad or negative sides were given an emphasis. I expect that the last question would wrap up positively by asking at least one good pov about the Philippines. Nevertheless, Filipino in general is genuinely appreciative and welcoming to all tourists regardless of nationality. 🇵🇭💓🇰🇷

For the Korean perspective, it’s best to watch Korean vloggers who actually lived in the Philippines: Dasuri Choi, Ryan Bang, Kristy Pata, Jinho Bae…so many. My Filipino friends do love Korean culture and after USA easily the country they love and admire the most is Korea and the nations are getting closer.

Korea and the Philippines cannot be free from US influence. Some Koreans like the Philippines and travel often, but some people are afraid of it because of the gun culture in the Philippines. My relatives have been to the Philippines often, but I have never been. To be honest, Red Velvet's Wendy, who lived in Canada, is more enviable in Korea than Sandara Park, who lived in the Philippines.

A friend of mine who lived in Mindanao(a very chaotic region back in the 80s, bombings and gun shootouts being common). Was shocked how common school shootings were in the States when he moved there. He even says New Jersey makes Davao look like one of the safest places out there.

To paraphrase a bit of Pinoy black humor I heard a bunch: "To get shot in the Philippines you at least have to do something. In the US you get shot for no reason"

@@gamechanger8908 Tbf that’s not hard to achieve, given how horrific gun violence is in the USA. In fact, the number 1 cause of death among youth now is being shot to death. American school shootings are particularly horrible.

I had the opportunity to visit Seoul in 2016 and unlike most people who shared their thoughts and experiences, I did not receive any rude remarks towards me, staring or anything like that. Quite the opposite actually: the elderly woman offered her seat to me in the train when she was about to get off instead of giving it to other locals. A street sweeper greeted me one morning and tried to have a conversation with me when I took our dog for a walk. Later on, I found out that he was friendly to all tenants in that apartment building. When my sister and I visited Myeongdong, there were no stares which I easily compared to us here in the Philippines where people would stare at visiting foreigners whenever we see one. I used to be like that lol. Well, I am trying to minimize as I grow older cause it is rude, peace!. I would like to visit Japan too, but I know also that Japanese people do not want attention to themselves and making such a negative views towards any person would create otherwise. I would not be surprised if their treatment of visiting foreigners would be much better than in Seoul given this string stigma. Be hopeful of a happy experience but also be ready for not the so good experiences when visiting other countries and don’t let the negative aura take much of your stay.

Maybe you are beautiful, Korean are the same with Filipino we appreciate and loved the attractive good-looking person but we very frank to say that she/he is ugly. Manilinians to bisaya therse is always a discriminations.

I am impressed with the responses of the Seoulites who were interviewed in this video. They were articulate, insightful, analytical, honest and progressive. And if many Seoulite youths share the same values, then there is great hope of changing unfavorable perceptions. Misunderstanding and cultural differences beget prejudice, so dialogue and more exposure to each other’s culture can help improve relations over time.

At the end of the day Philippine as country may have loads of downside when comes to economy and government but we as Filipinos always have the ability to spread happiness to everyone no matter what our circumstances are and that is far more important than anything else,HAPPINESS.

It’s great to hear their insights about the Philippines. They’re all very distinct yet very accurate all at the same time.

You also have those Korean influencers in the Philippines and those Koreans who studied/lived/ born here dissipate the negative image of Pinas when they go back to Korea! Also, the majority of Koreans that visit the country, go to resorts and stay there. Only a few really go out further outside of the resort to explore. Whether you're a tourist or a local, it's common sense and normal to feel unsafe or scared when walking alone (especially women) late at night near dark alleys and unfamiliar places! I'm sure you've experience the same or something similar. Eh meski malapit ka na nga sa bahay mo na ho-hold up ka parin. Ibang tao pa kaya?

The Philippines was the first to be westernized. If we're talking specifically about being Americanized. After the Spaniards stayed here in the Philippines, in the late 19th Century Filipinos were already wearing suits and ties as typical street wear.

I stay in korea for a week before pandemic. They're very respectful and generous. I have a korean friend who I meet 10 years ago we have constant communication. Never felt any discrimination from them.

PH is a developing country but its recently become a newly industrialised country, it's not a 3rd world country it just has a persistent poverty problem. Its 12th largest economy in Asia and 32nd in the world. One of the fastest growing and rising economies!

@@etrnlygr8tfulBut Per IMF data PH is a newly industrialized country an economy in transition from one based on agriculture to one based on services and manufacturing. Its GDP by purchasing power parity was at $1.47 trillion the 18th largest in thr world. PH is not poor per se its just that the wealth is not properly distributed. The problem is overpopulation and income inequality. Hopefully we can emerge a better nation in the coming years and no one will be left behind.

The Philippines never fell back in development. We've always been a developing country in both past and present. The rate of our growth has never slowed, at least not until the pandemic which slowed down the entire global economy.

The majority of the Koreans we met during our stay were friendly and polite. However, we did encounter a few rude ones as well. That front desk lady was the first racist encounter I've ever had, she was rude to us when we asked where the main kitchen was or if we could borrow the weighing scale for our luggage, and she did not have the same tone when 2 white girls entered and asked for their keys. She started small talk with them and spoke politely.

This is good for us Filipinos to hear. Sometimes, or a lot of times, it is hard for us to hear the truth. There are a lot of learning points for us in this interview. They are very polite in how they answered. I think a lot of us Filipinos nowadays have become so rowdy.

Why is everyone in the comments refusing to acknowledge that Koreans primarily visit Philippines because 1) the flight is cheap. 2) most of the travelers are men who are engaging in sex tourism. Just read about Kopinos, the children korean men leave behind. 3) they love visiting countries like PH where they can act wealthy and sometimes he rude to the poor locals. I always encounter rude English speaking Koreans at resorts, hotels or restaurants saying awful things to waitresses.

I'm Filipino, and only had 1 Korean friend from college. He was very introverted and into sports. The only time I got through to him is when I treat him in an all Filipino food buffet and said that it was the best time of his life. Up until now, he loves Filipino cuisine more than Korean, but I'm exactly the opposite. My food stock consists of Korean dishes. I remember tasting my first home made Korean kimchi from his mom, I'm so sorry that I butchered it's preparation and he got mad at us, but in the end he made a very tasty Kimchi fried rice and that's where my tastebuds migrated.

I left my phone in a seat outside the train station in ICN airport last 2018. After 30 mins, I was able to retrieve it in the lost and found section of the airport. I wish Fiilpinos could have the same honesty.

I appreciate the interviews you are making, it's always nice to see new content and it definetely takes a lot of work but I would like to suggest if you could provide some videos asking more general topics, these videos aren't bad now and then but they are very centered into a specific topic that may not interest a lot of people. Nonetheless thank you for your hard work.

I've been to Japan and Korea. I enjoy going to Japan the most, I feel less judged.

Those interviewed have been polite and phrased their opinions quite eloquently. It's been refreshing to hear them admit that they know nothing or little about the topic. Interesting video.

The woman in the brown jacket is quite perceptive. She is quite empathetic about our status as a developing country unlike Korea. To think that we were a richer country than Korea. I meet some old Koreans in the States and they said looked up to the Philippines back in the 50s when it was richer than Korea.

It was because of him that our country peaked, but it was also because of him that we struck to the ground-- or was it? The liberal party has always been against him because he was the only one blocking the agendas of the dilawans. Dilawans and their parties didnt even do anything much after Marcos, so now, almost in every campaign, they feed off the propaganda saying that theyll get the ill-gotten wealth back to the Philippines. But its been decades, theyre all talk ffs.

As a Filipino, these are very insightful and respectful comments from the average foreigner about the Philippines.

met some Koreans from an International School near my cousin. The way the looked at us with disgusts just shows how they really think of us.

I agree with the Koreans' thoughts about The Philippines that making content through social media and improving the economy would help decrease the stereotypes and have knowledge to our country. The Philippines and South Korea has a very good relationship and I hope this will last for a long time!

60% of bananas and pineapples in Korea come from the Philippines. But no coffee. Also, there are no cases where Korean electronics companies have factories in the Philippines. Korea has many exchanges with Vietnam. I hope the two countries will become closer in terms of trade as well.

they have always been doing these types of questions when philippines is the topic or when they are interviewing filipinos. the questions are always negative towards filipinos. whereas the questions they asked towards other countries sometimes pertains to glitz and glamour or luxury-related questions. which is ironic because when they almost shut down, the people who ran a campaign and support them so they wont shut down were filipinos. my foreign african friend who i am close with so we are comfortable to each other's honesty said that we filipinos think we are nice by doing these types of things, but really he said we are just dumb (in a non-serious but honest way).

@@syca803 thats even worst. The issue hwre is not that they talk bad things. Its how they look down on filipinos. Nobody is mad that they talk bad about the PH. People are mad how koreans lowly view filipinos.

I'm dismayed about the responses coming from interviewee. However, you can't blame people for LACK of understanding/knowledge about different countries and only relying on what they hear. I LOVE MY COUNTRY, THE PHILIPPINES. There's a LOT to be thankful for...friendly people, well verse in English, tourist spots, the various sorts of different cuisine, infrastracture are developing and more. Oh, almost forgot WE adapt to change quiet easy. Last but not the least, THE PEOPLE, my kababyans!

Thank you for this. It's the first time I've encountered the word "Kopino". It's a sad reality. I like their opinions though. It's good to hear them. I hope that these people will visit Philippines someday and experience Filipino hospitality.

I don't patronize Koreans or idolized them, I just like the entertainment things they shell out (it's not k-dramas but manhwa/webtoon). It's the same way with Japanese because I like anime/manga

I used to be a huge fan of K-pop idols, now I only like their variety shows.

I want to visit Korea someday, hopefully people there will be nice and helpful to tourist.

I visited Seoul I didn’t experience anyone staring at me or making me feel like what the guy experienced.

As a Filipino. I would like to say we need to improve more than now. My korean friend was threated by her neighbor after complaint their car fumes and kitchen refuse, the neighbor said "F you! go back to your country and I will report you to philippines immigration" later on " I will shoot you!" that is what I saw. I also traveled to korea several times but I never hear korean people say like that to me. some of here pinoy talked about korean are bad but they need to know thier two sides.

I was been in the Philippines for 3 months, and I only have good memories because the prices are cheap and everyone is nice to me~

I'm a Filipino studying a 4-year course at a Korean university. I really loved this video and found it to be entertaining, majority of it being true.

As a filipino, I am not at all sad nor enrage with their comments. They are all on point. Filipinos should view the comments as constructive criticism to be better rather than be defensive and all.

As a Filipino... This video is very very good, thought provoking, lots of good insights from the participants and good questions of asian boss, constructive opinions and more knowledge on public opinion of koreans about Filipinos ertc, our relations and history...ill come back to give my opinions about this whole video and subjects discussed. 😊🇰🇷🇵🇭👌

This girl from 1:19 gave the FACTS... still.. I am happy that they atleast knew we exist... I love Korean culture and their people... saying HI from Philippines!

An outside perspective is always welcome. This was a refreshing watch.

I really don’t care what other countries think of us.

I am ever so impressed with how well-educated and articulate your interviewees are in these vox pops. The strength and security that comes from a strong national identity shines through. South Korea is not perfect but is getting a lot of fundamentals right, it seems. I am a K fan nearing 72 years on our planet. Sending much love and respect ❤️

@maggie I am sure there is much they still need to progress but they are developing fast and getting a lot right. Attitudes to mental health and same sex relationships are already starting to change and there are a lot of successful women.

At least in the Philippines suic*de count is not that high unlike in korea or other countries since we Filipino is so resilient and take stereotypes/criticism lightly. Filipino thinks positively because we always choose to be happy

been to South Korea many times, since 2007, even there was no Kpop nor social media things that affects each others perspective. Koreans was helpful and kind to me, often asking if I'm a foreigner, that they could assist. I was even helped by a man where I was buying this fish cakes during night, when he noticed that the woman who sells them tries to keep the change and gave me a very high price for a stick of that fish cake thing :P, he scolded the woman, maybe telling her to be honest to foreigners, then she gave me change and a lot more fish cakes. Samgyupsal and Korean pop culture was not a thing in the Philippines back then, but I knew that Jang Geum of Jewel in the Palace would be a hit.

Being a filipino myself does'nt made me accept the fact that there are more stereotypes and harsh persfective against my nation or in any other nation in particular coz we filipinos are widely known as a friendly nation much as foreingners , yes we admit we do have more problems in our nation but one thing is for sure no other nationality will be treated as brothers and sisters when you come to the Philippines no hate just l❤ve

Grabe mga comments nila....lahat naman ng country may bad and good sides....even in Korea has it too....hindi lang naipalabas sa media.....but try to search the dark side of Korea....were many foriegn girls na may karanasan sa Sexual harassment.....so sad....we Filipinos admit that our country still in developing country...but im happy with it...kesa naman sa country kun saan may mataas na Suicide rates....kaya nga now ng stop nako mg support ng mga kdramas or kpop...mas mabuting mga Ppop ang tangkilikin ko.....not all koreans naman masama and bully and not all Filipinos naman ay masama....

Pero saatin kasi is ibang case naman, Especially most filipino blindly voted the corrupt politicians (literal ini-idolo). We getting this harsh comments dahil ito nakikita nila. Harsh kasi hindi sugar-coated, pero accepting these comments and learn from it is the first step we need to do. Plus, boycotting kdrama and kpop is very low of you to do. Di ko sinasabi na wag mo i-boycott pero di mo man ma-accept yung comments nila na totoo naman.

As a Filipino living abroad, I do understand why most Koreans have a negative connotation of the Philippines in general. Every time I watch the news about my country more than 50% is crime/sex/drugs related, so as Filipinos can we blame if foreigners view us negatively? We can't change how other races will think about us, what we can do is improve our lives collectively and stay as decent human beings and citizens. Calling Koreans racist will not make us look any better. Not all Koreans are good but so are we Filipinos no need to be oversensitive from this video. At the end of the day if we want the world to view PH in a good light then our government has to do something about it, unfortunately, we always end up voting for corrupt officials.

For people comparing Korea to Japan, we get it you like Japan more. That's the case with literally every single Asian country right now. Everyone loves Japan. But don't let that be an excuse to find reasons to dislike Korea. Not that Korea is perfect, but just don't let your Japan bias to talk Korea down. Regarding discrimination, I am very positive some Japanese people look down on Southeast Asians just as much as some Koreans do. They even look down on Koreans, how do you think they feel about you SEA? lmao think about that. I think the only difference is they are just better at hiding it.

That intro spiel was like a punch to the gut as a Filipino. That is the sad truth about how far we have fallen economically because of years of pillaging by politicians. It is true - we are not underdeveloped, we are over exploited. 🥴

As a Korean, I regret that many low-level Koreans went to the Philippines. People living in the Korean Peninsula are shocked by the incidents of Koreans being shot and killed in the Philippines, so they think about it on a slightly different level than other Southeast Asian countries.

I am one of those 50k Filipinos living in Korea for almost 7months now. I gotta say, and this is based on my own experience with my Korean co-workers, that they know a fair amount of things about the Philippines. I have this 60-ish-old Korean co-worker who knows about the past president Marcos from way back in the 1960s. I gotta say that the experience so far has been amazing. You can see the difference in culture sometimes, but the treatment I experience from them is heartwarming. Also, the "leaving your things out and no one will steal them" thing is factually true. I am very amazed by that. Now, when I shop from one store to another, I just leave the things I bought outside without worrying about it being stolen.

I'm a Filipino and been to Korea a couple of times. i have to disagree with the other comments. Koreans are nice people. Some may just seem to be snobs since they don't speak English well. It's very safe in Korea because of the people. I once unconsciously dropped my wallet while getting down on a bus, and a Korean couple picked it up and hurried to give it back to me.
