I really agree with you, it is a lot easier to express yourself and your experiences in your mother tongue. I can hear the Afrikaans guys also struggle with the English after a long flight and all the celebrations (and didn't we just beat the English?!). Unfortunately it is the language that most understand. I think a lot of people will feel left out if the guys speak in their mother tongue and I mean this going both ways. As an Afrikaans speaking South African I am really interested in what Mapimpi and Kolisi have to say when sharing their experiences so I wouldn't have understood if they spoke in their own language and if the Afrikaans players only spoke Afrikaans many wouldn't understand and will not be able to share in the experience. Translations at the bottom of the screen could help, but these press release are live so I don't think it's that easy. Either way, it is absolutely fantastic to be able to witness and share in the success of the Springboks!

No it makes way more sense to speak English because English is the most common language in South Africa and the world. I mean if a English guy that can only speak and understand English asks you a question, it does not make any sense to answer in a language he/she can't understand. Obviously if you can't or barely can speak English then you obviously have to answer in your mother tongue. In short answer the question in the same language it was asked unless you actually can't speak that language.
