I always saw Boos as less of just “ghosts” and more of a species of ghost. After all, all the main King’s in Mario are king of a species ( Koopas, Goombas, Bob-ombs ) From their mischievous traits, maybe they’re the souls of people who couldn’t pass onto the afterlife because during life, they were not evil, but just jerks, like bullies or shady merchants ( Igor from Paper Mario? ). These types of people transform into Boos, and are forced to stay in the mortal realm or that paranormal dimension, so they just decide to continue their mischief. I guess one just found this magic crystal, and was able to rise to power. Him starting off as a normal Boo could explain why he said that Mario caused him so much trouble. He was just another enemy, and Mario defeated him. But that’s just my two cents, loved the vid! You always make super enjoyable theories, keep it up!

You mean he was a evil king that lived in a cursed land that was far away from the mushroom kingdom. He could of died from the curse and swore to his people who are now boos that he will find a new place to live. Thus the events of super mario world and his sudden disgust for the mario Brothers. But that's just my point of view.

I think that the red diamond in Luigi's mansion you find on the balcony has something to do with king boos origin as it is the same as the one you get off king boos crown ,which is his source of power, when you beat him and it's the only other one in the game. Maybe there used to be a second king boo or he used to be even more powerful

Maybe he was a king, but not from one of SMB3's worlds. He could've ruled Boo Woods before it became Boo Woods.

No that's not-. Boos are made when someone dies and are brought back as ghosts.

I thought king boo was bowser since he “died” multiple times in the Mario games and came back, it would make sense since king boo had the ability to transform into a bowser form

Well there is a theory that king boo can be bowser's soul 1. in the final battle in the first game it states that bowser was defeated again an he is brought back to life 2. King boo takes control of bowser 3. Bowser was not seen as a boss in the next weegee game 4. There is a different theory that bowser can be brought back to life in different body's (which can explain dry-bowser and King boo as a play able character in mario kart and in super sluggers)

I just think, Bowser used his magic to transform one of the normal Boos into King Boo, because ve needed someone to control all the ghosts.

I’ve read that King Boo is in fact dead bowser which does make sense due to the dialog between king boo and Luigi in the first Luigi’s Mansion. It also would make sense why he lured specifically Mario and Luigi to the mansion and why he chose the form of bowser for the final boss fight.

Maybe he's the king of the Mushroom Kingdom you, know Peach's dad, and that's why he never attack Peach

maybe bowser created king boos out of ALL the kings, and that's why there's multiple different coloured king boos. maybe the others were defeated by Mario.

I just assume the kings became King Boo, King K. Rool, Wart, etc.

I dare say... my theory on King Boo's form before his ghostly apparition was actually Bowser Senior, who is now just simply Dry Bowser. Bowser Jr. Now Bowser had a son, and the roles continue.

I think King Boo was a former king of the Special Mushroom World and the Special Fire Flower World (NSMB 2) that was betrayed by the other kings and ended up killing them and collecting all of the gems. That's why his crown is a rare reddish purple and his other crown has got different colored gems. The only 2 problems with this is that the koopalings had wands again (King Boo possibly cloned some of the gems) and that someone had to inherit the kingdoms (maybe Peach).

The gem in the second Luigi's Mansion is part of the dark moon, right? So it woudl've been the red gem originally.

So I'm not going to go too far into it but my theory is below Yuga, flawless, flawless Yuga. Yuga, powerful Yuga. Paint, he of harrowed paint. YUGA, FLAWLESS, FLAWLESS YUGA (Lyrics too Yuga's theme from A Link Between Worlds)

I always had a headcannon that he was a king who wanted ever lasting life, so he would always rule. Messed with dark magic and ended up making himself and others into boos, bowser and boo have a working relationship, as in he gives bowser riches and sometimes boo-power in exchange for lost souls to make into more boos and some help from time to time

King Boo could be Bowser's past ghosts haunting Mario. Since Bowser is a Master in necromancy gives him the ability to create a horcrux of himself using the gems from the wands.

since we now have more info, it's clear King Boo was a killed Toad that nobody liked or cared about, and had an obsession with the Boos (like the Ronald Ghost from Airplane 1 in Roblox). Upon the day of his death, he obviously turned into a Boo, which Bowser ended up choosing to be the King, which is also why he hated Princess Peach, Mario, but mostly, Luigi. Why Luigi being the most hated, his cowardly attributes which gets him to fight some monsters with Dr. E. Gadd's inventions (you'll see this in Luigi's Mansion 3 early game).

I think he was the bowser before bowser not Bowsers dad but the person who ran the drug trades and stuff but died so he helps the new leader of the drug trades Bowser.

Given his size compared to regular Boos he might have been created by taking the souls of all the kings and merging them into a single, more powerful soul? Or after their deaths the power of their respective souls might have come together on the "other side" aka the Paranormal Dimension, giving rise to a new being; King Boo, as well as granting him the magic gems they possessed?

if he was one of the 7 kings then it would be the one with the luigi face because he has a crown and a red gem on his scepter

The first thing we need to establish is that there are *two different King Boos* - the one from the Luigi's Mansion series, and the one from most other Mario Series media. In Luigi's Mansion, we see a much more sinister King Boo organize a Trap for the Mario Bros by informing them by mail that they've won a Mansion in a competition. Mario heads there first, and is overwhelmed by not Boos, but _actual GHOSTS!_ After not hearing back from his brother, Luigi makes the trip to the location on the letter to find the Mansion looking *nothing* like the picture - quaking in Fear, Luigi heads inside... This King Boo is nothing like the Boos we've ever seen before - he's menacing, cruel, and can rival Bowser in magical ability. The magic jewel in his Crown allows him to control other ghosts, and turn them malevolent. In later games, the jewel is upgraded to a more powerful, Purple jewel, giving him the power to move things between the Paranormal Dimension and the Normal world, including the ability to warp reality while in the Paranormal Dimension. This is the *true* King of the Boos, and had been missing for a very long time... In his abscence, the Boos of the Mushroom Kingdom chose to work under Bowser Koopa, as he allowed them to scare people and make mischief as much as they wanted. The Boos that were larger and scarier led their separate groups, and were referred to as the 'Big Boo'. When Bowser decided to steal all of the Power Stars from Peach's Castle and hold Peach prisoner, he took along his biggest, baddest Big Boo to lead his spooky troops - feeling a sense of entitlement, this Big Boo donned a crown and considered itself the leader of all Boos, the King. We know this from the additional events that were retconned into the story by the Nintendo DS port of Super Mario 64. Before informing Mario that it has imprisoned his brother Luigi, the Big Boo refers to itself as such - however, this version of the Big Boo _is wearing a crown!_ This is clearly the first instance of this second King Boo in the Mario Series, before it started calling itself King. So there are two different King Boos throughout the games - one that's a Big Boo with illusions of grandeur working under Bowser, and the True King Boo that wants no part in Bowser's army and fights the Mario Bros with its own magical prowess!

Sorry for the huge post on a six-month old video, but with Luigi's Mansion 3 out, this video has become relevant again...

Bowser and King Boo Theory (All credits for this theory go to a creepypasta and "MY" theory credits go to WWWario on KZread.) The main attention in Paper Mario 64 for this theory goes to Bowser, but King Boo deserves to be mentioned as well. This is because Mario had actually allied with the Boos in World 3 of this game, and so you may think this would change King Boo's mood about Mario. However, if you think more into it, you'll see that this brief alliance wasn't nearly enough to make up for Mario's past aggression. First, he only allied with one Ghost House, compared to the several he disrupted in past games. Second, the alliance was forced, because they wouldn't give him the Star Spirit until he helped solve their problem. All in all, what Mario did in Paper Mario wasn't enough to stop King Boo's hatred toward him. Bowser plays a much bigger role to the theory in Paper Mario. The end of the game is where it gets particularly interesting. This starts in the scene where Mario, Bowser and Kammy Koopa are on a platform way up in the clouds that is about to explode. Mario is seen escaping with the help of the Star Spirits. Bowser on the other hand isn't so lucky. Explosions can be both seen and heard without him or Kammy Koopa escaping. While Bowser's deaths before this game were at least understandable on how he survived (maybe he can swim in lava and only got injured in the smaller falls), there is no explanation on how Bowser can survive being stranded on a exploding platform thousands of feet in the sky, no matter how tough or resilient he has been in the past. Mario fell from the same height at the very beginning of the game, and even he got killed, though he was fortunately revived by the Star Spirits. In fact, proof about Bowser's death may be hinted in-game. At the very end of the game when you must walk to Peach's Castle to trigger the ending scene, go to the center part in town. In front of Merlin's house should be a sign, which is called: Toad Town News. After mentioning about how Mario defeated Bowser and how Peach and her castle are safe, it also mentions this: Bowser was badly beaten and will likely never return. We're sure of it. Almost positive. After saying the obvious on how Bowser was badly beaten, it also states on how confident they are in that Bowser won't return. This connections that can be made with this series of events strongly suggest that Bowser had suffered such a brutal beating that he had finally been killed. You all know what happens at the start of the game. Luigi goes to a mansion that he "won in a contest" only to find out that it is much darker than advertised, and needs to find out where Mario is, who went into the mansion before him. This game features King Boo's first in-game appearance; he appears after Luigi opens a trapdoor and a bunch of Boos and King Boo fly out of it. About mid-way through the game, you see King Boo in a fancy room with Mario inside a painting, struggling to get out. This is the first sign that King Boo is up to something sinister with Mario. But, soon after, perhaps the most crucial event in relation to the theory occurs. In Area 3, do you remember the Fortune Telling Ghost? Also known as Madame Clairvoya. You know, the kind ghost who tells Luigi to bring Mario's dropped objects so she can see what happened to Mario? Well, once you give her the last object, after she tells the orb to show them all it can about Mario, she will say this: Wh-what is this!? Bowser?! How can this be?! I see the hideous form of Bowser! Is Bowser somewhere in this mansion? I cannot believe it... And yet I see it... I thought that Mario had soundly defeated Bowser! Has King Boo somehow revived Bowser? This could be horrible! Well, for you. While she confirms that Bowser still exists, she doesn't understand why considering Mario soundly defeated Bowser. Remember though that Paper Mario was the Mario game before Luigi's Mansion and how the Toad Town News sign in Paper Mario also thought that Bowser wouldn't return. Also recall Bowser's brutal defeat at the end of Paper Mario. See a connection here? Also note the part when she mentions how King Boo could have revived Bowser. This will be important later on. Another connection can be made when Luigi opens the door to King Boo's room. Before the final battle begins, King Boo talks to Mario's painting, and at one point says this interesting line: I remember how much trouble you've (Mario) caused me in the past. This doesn't make sense at first, considering this is King Boo's first appearance in the Mario series, but remember what I said earlier about how Mario kept on going into Ghost Houses in Super Mario World? That and other confrontations with Boos is what King Boo meant by the "trouble." King Boo then makes the room do a 360 and turns the Mario painting into a Bowser painting, then goes into the painting and sucks Luigi in. You will then fight the final boss on the roof of the mansion; Bowser with King Boo controlling him. Now, remember how the Fortune Telling Ghost mentioned on how King Boo could've somehow revived Bowser? The connections here imply that King Boo wanted to get revenge on Mario for the trouble he caused with other Boos by first luring him into a mansion filled with ghosts, then reviving his now dead arch-enemy; Bowser. My theory: Bowser and King Boo are...ONE AND THE SAME! If Bowser died at the end of Paper Mario 64, then his ghost would come back in Luigi's Mansion, which is the game after Paper Mario 64. This also explains why King Boo says Mario caused him so much trouble in the past, for he's talking about himself when he was alive, so he built a mechanical version of HIMSELF to defeat Luigi. Furthermore, both beings are kings (King Boo, King Koopa), and in Super Mario 64 and the DS remake, Bowser's laugh is a slowed-down version of the Boo laugh.

Thats possible,but theres one problem,in superstar saga,Bowser survive the explosion of his koopa ship thing,his koopas ship thing was in SPACE! If he survive that,he possibly survive this little thing,also in the manuel of super Mario Galaxy,it sayed Bowser survive the destruction and rebirth of the universe WITHOUT THAT ROSELINA PROTECT HIM,if he can survive that,i dont think he would die from that little thing.

MY theory: in super mario 64 land you fight a king goomba boss in the game as the first boss. Maybe instead of being defeated, he died. So maybe that's why he kidnapps mario in the luigi's mansion series and turns him into a painting, to avenge his death!

King boo is Bowser's BROTHER! One day in the koopa kingdom Bowser needed someone to help him. He thought boo woods would be a perfect place to start looking. So he went in to boo woods and he found a grave yard. In it was his brother's grave. Then he said to himself "Maybe if I bring my brother back he would help me." so he did. Using his dark magic Bowser was able to bring his brother back to life but then he realized that his brother is now a BOO. So Bowser heads back to lair to find his brothers crown with a color changing gem on top. Bowser then heads back to the grave yard of boo woods and places the crown on his brothers head. They then agreed to stop the Mario brothers. You know the rest;)

Here’s a thought. He’s Bowers spirit. It seems fitting. Think about it, Bowser drowns in lava, gets blown up in Paper Mario, falls to his death from deadly heights, even gets thrown face first into a bomb. He couldn’t possible survive any of that but he keeps coming back. Which leads me to think King Boo is his ghost and after thinking of a new plan he reunited with Bowsers’ corpse therefore bringing him back to life over and over again. Just a thought though.

What if the reason that Super Mario Bros. 3 is a stage play but the remakes drop this theme is that the remakes are the canonical adventure, while the original is a Non-Fiction play put on by the Mushroom People in honor of the Mario Brothers' victory? 😸

There is 1 detail you all forgot about. A detail from Luigi's Mansion 1. When you finally reach King Boo's Room, He starts his monologue. But one line of his monologue gives us a lore drop: ''Perhaps that is merely because I remember how much trouble you've caused me in the past.'' King Boo was a former enemy of the Mario Bros. Not an ally. But an enemy. Because King Boo remembers how the Mario Bros had ruined his plans. And as a result the Mario Bros POSSIBLY caused King Boo to accidentally die. Thus why King Boo lured the Mario Bros Specifically to a haunted mansion. It would explain why King Boo works with Bowser. And his connection to Mario and Luigi.

@@kamakuragaming King Boo doesn't appear in SM64. That's Big Boo. Not King Boo. King Boo appears in SM64 DS where he had kidnapped Luigi. And he did have his crown but with no giant gem on it.

with the release of Luigi's Mansion 3, King Boo most likely will have a different color Gem.

I found something and I think the arabian guy is king boo because I found it in a video called "How all the ghost bosses from luigi's mansion 3 died" and one of these say "Kruller, got shot while trying to stop someone from stealing king boo slippers". So theirs your evidents. #kingbooaraibianking

In my honest opinion, Bowser killed the kings, fused them together into one ghost, fused all the magic wands into the big crystal, and put it into a crown. It's not a very good theory, but it could possibly be true.

I'm kinda late since this was posted 6 months ago, but in the DS Remake of Luigi's Mansion, King Boo's Crown now has a purple gem, so that seems to make it that the king with the purple wand only could be King Boo, unless it's for another different reason as the wand's gem seems to have a more circular shape even in the TV Show, where they elaborate more onto the Kings. Overall I think he's just a Boo that was born normally, as in like the ghosts had a baby, and it turned out a ghost like them despite not being a human before. Edit: Ignore all this I was wrong apparently.

I have a theory that king boo could have once ruled the kingdom that you see in the spooky trails in Mario + rabbids, or he was the ruler of the mushroom kingdom before death, which could explain why he wants to take over

My son thinks King Boo used to be Bowser, but he made fake puppets.

Considering that they just appear out of nowhere and there is no king of the living, id assume that that's just the role given to him... Kinda like the grim reaper. No one knows where he came from but apparently he rules over life and death.
