    My '84 2 door was the same color interior and exterior with the 5 speed manual. Put 187K miles on it. GF wrecked it. I have roasted those '44 axes a lot. Guys would plow with my trucks, turn the wheel in deep wet snow, hammer the throttle, feel the joints banging and wonder why.

    I dailyed a 1 ton 2000 xj on 40s for about 8 months, loved it except the ride wasn't always the smoothest but was awesome and got 15mpg

    Technically those axles came on both 3/4 and 1 ton trucks so calling them either is correct.

    My best friend always wanted to 1 ton swap and 40s on his 2 door xj 5 speed , all we did was cut finders and do 35s. He took it up to Vermont and rolled it and padded away, I wish he woulda seen this video. Looks amazing

    This is some good info for me... Just got my license, planning a build on one of my father’s parts trucks, a 1969 Jeep Gladiator J3600, not necessarily for crawling, more for overlanding, and I might do 40’s.

    40s get pricy real quick and nor really needed for overlanding. I'd do 35s and an ls and let er eat 🤘

    @@dylangreen9819 after looking at M715’s, I’ll probably go with 37’s. I think 35’s would look too small on a full-size truck, but 37’s would be perfect. And, that way, I might not have to axle rebuild right away once I get ahold of some one tons. And no way I’m gonna do an LS, my dad is a Buick guy, which is why he got into these trucks, they came with Buick 350’s. I think he would disown me if I put a Chevy motor in it 😂

    I sold my xj on tons and 38s, had a Dana 300 twin stick and built auto trans with the aftermarket manual shift rail....wish I never got rid of it!!! Sold for $10k and Id buy it back any day

    Rather than the LS swap you should consider a 4.6/4.7 7120 head 99 intake Stroker build.

    Yea most people like the autos wheeling. We prefer the sticks still, little bit of an extra challenge but you dont have that torque converter pushing you down rocks

    It was just a pain getting up and over obstacles without extra gearing. The auto was a easier cheaper solution. I have a manual shift controller on mine with lock up torque converter. Im happy with it so far. I got an atlas going in soon.

    l got a 98 xj sadly 2wd but just fitted a front axle in and waiting to replace the trans and transfercase for 4x4

    You can totally daily drive a one ton XJ. I used to daily drive my 1995 with a Dana 60 and 14 bolt on 37s.

    The rear not cheap a lot of people leave the lef springs in the rear I would just get a couple cans of black spray paint and spray them it looks good nice work dudes

    Pretty sure Dana44s are only 1/2 - 3/4 ton rated axles, not 1 ton. Don't matter how much money you put in 'em. Smaller internals, smaller tubes, smaller shafts. Still a nice Cherokee, gotta love the 2 doors. Should push that rear axle back a few inches though, looks like it'd eat the front of the rear fender with any up travel.

    Does the B&M shifter make a big difference? I did an ax5 to ax15 swap on my 4 banger YJ, but had to leave that out for my budget. I could put the money towards it now if it helps the ax15's weird problems. Sweet rig!!

    Cool build, but it looks like it doesn't flex any better than a stock XJ. I think you need to tub the rear, carve out the fenders a bit and give those tires some room to stuff so you can soften up the springs and give it some articulation.

    Are you running the factory pitman arm? I have an 89 MJ with a 60/14B swap on 40's and my steering left to right is off. I'm assuming its because I have my drag link connected to the knuckle like you did and I need to relocate the mounting location closer to the pivot point of the knuckle.

    They will dont listen. Go to b&ms website, type in the year make model and get the part number you need its the same as the one that "doesn't fit"

    Yea I was hoping the front coils would settle a little but they haven't. The nice thing is the rear shackles are adjustable so I can push it up some more

    @@Grewsum2Sum awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. I'm doing fully built Ford Hp44 and 9" big bearing rear. Gonna run 39s. Was concerned about the steering... I have Chevy high steer knuckles so there will be virtually no angle on the drag link so that should help a tiny bit with steering feedback.

    @@ballard12 yea cause putting 1500 axleshafts into something is being too broke your right.... I got it cause it has better clearance than a d60 and I wanted to prove to my brother you can make it work just as well as a 60 If you know what your doing

Fixed like 4 things they messed up and they had my truck a month total with all new 4.5 rubicon lift and 1ton heim steering it goes with the road they said its bc theirs no play and i told them i drive it to work they said this is what u want .... Not this is for rock crawling

    @@Grewsum2Sum I hear you, I ran generally the same setup for years! Once we finally stretched the rear a bit the road manners and general offroad performance was instantly noticeable. Went through a few rear driveshaft before putting a simple torque bar.

    99-04 solid and cheaper and simpler but ik 05-08 stronger. Never had issues with my 1 ton xj with 04 axles
