    It's been 8 months since her last stream, I thought she would be living quite a happy retirement by now. Jonas' recent passing makes me imagine what would happen to me if my mother ever passed away. But one day, I would also have a choice to happily retire if I did lose her. I often look at retirement as simply enjoying life, relaxing and not having a worry in the world.

    I've been asking about Heather for a while now, hoping she'll return. That's got its ups and downs because the Dr. Mario community has grown quite a bit and has become quite a lot more competitive since she was last seen playing. I'd like to think that Jonas would want her to compete some more. She's a great player.

    I am in contact with Heather and she has a standing invitation to attend any of our events under whatever conditions she wishes. I don't see her coming back to full competition, but her 2019 run was an inspiration for many of our newer players and still remains our most watched KZread video. She will be welcomed with open arms in any capacity.

    A little Insider baseball, Scout had sent me the script for this video for fact checking and I saw it was well put together and easy to understand for a person new to the scene to understand. When the video was dropped, our crew was in the middle of setup for DrMC 2022 and we all paused and huddled around a phone to watch it. Even though I had read the script beforehand, it still got me in the feels. The biggest gut punch was watching the clip of the combo I dropped early on in the vid. Hearing Jonas call that moment hit me hard, and then seeing all my friends shine throughout the rest of the piece was a Rollercoaster while I was emotionally stun locked. S tier work Mr Scout. You and SGG are true friends and beautiful people.

    That pools/seeding/qualifying (tbh idk what it's called lmao) system is actually genius. @@IanZWhite00 I took some inspiration from the old ctwc format where players could play as little or as much as they wanted. I combined that festival feeling with a mini version of a regular season of a sports league. Lower stakes + more variety = more fun for players ( hopefully) A dedicated qual period gives players the chance to play a lot of Dr Mario matches against a lot of different players. I wanted to avoid a traditional double elim bracket where half the players are finished after 3 matches.

Just one thing though, I feel like when the rounds start they should find something that sounds more exciting to say, because ‘3, 2, 1, pills’ just sounds a bit underwhelming in my opinion, nothing like ‘3, 2, 1, TETRIS!’ I mean idk what it should be, maybe like “CAPSULES UP!”, or “DOCTOR TIME!” 😂 These are just ideas, I’m certain the players can come up with something better. Face masks have mostly gone away in the US at this point. There was a high amount of face masks in this video as it was filmed back in September 2021, when the pandemic had still not yet died down.

    Can’t wait until a bunch of teenagers on Twitch solve/break this game like they did Tetris

  • @aGameScout

    @aGameScout

    This game will be much harder to do that on as rolling/raw speed doesn't give you an overwhelming advantage like it does in Tetris. I could see teenagers becoming dominant in the game, but that would mainly be due to having more time to practice than the adults.
