I just love how Tetris players come up with solutions to host qualifiers in a garage, just as how they come up with solutions during Tetris.

Gaming will always find a way. I love how the competitive community's are so grass roots. Even EVO and AGDQ have humble beginnings in a garage.
this is basically how most esport events were 15 years ago, that's so cool.

I love these vlog type videos where you gather with a bunch of other people and have fun playing Tetris and just interacting with each other.
Thanks for posting this Scout! This brought back a lot of good memories; it's hard to believe it's been over a year since this meetup! :D
6:28 the fact that the score calculation was done with a scratch project makes me so happy
0:42 I'm glad the clip from that Livestream existed. The full videos were not saved. After Jonas Neubauer passed away, I wanted to find any past videos of Jonas. And I remembered that Trey had done test livestreams on the ClassicTetris Twitch channel. So I looked at all the clips and found a bunch of old clips from those livestreams. The clips were all new to me because I was not active on Twitch at the time. I'm happy to be able to share them with Classic Tetris community. That was my way of honoring him.
22:47 What a nice guy. Always smiling, even when losing and the RNG is not on the side. Didn't even react to it. Lol.
I love the tetris community,so much love for the game, each player and the community at large. So wholesome to watch from grey old north germany. Thank you david for all the work you do!
This was an incredibly video scout. The storytelling, the editing, the mystery until the end, it just all comes together flawlessly. I can really tell you put so much effort into these and I can't thank you enough for making me feel like I was there myself. I can't wait to see you in more events in the future (jersey and ctwc were amazing) and continue being so great!

You're such a great storyteller Scout! Hope to make it over to the US to witness a CTWC one year.
Excellent storytelling, glad to see more uploads from you! I hope to make it to more live Tetris events this year.
Great Vid Scout. I love the detective work that outed Jounce! You have a great style for these vids and I enjoy watching them. Thanks (To you and yer mrs) for your contribution to the Tetris community. Keep up the good work!
Great vlog of the event, really fun watch. Thanks!
Fantastic video! Really love these event recaps. Thank you for documenting the scene and making us feel a part of it! edit: also love the jokes no matter how cheesy. Keep em coming!
Scout is my go to Tetris channel for all the up to date Tetris news from 2 years ago. Jk, fantastic video as always, it's awesome having these very up close and personal looks at these events and getting to really experience the history of competitive Tetris as it's being made.
Another amazing video Scout! Thanks for putting this together. :)
Very cool, I remember this event fondly 😊
I will make a big effort to attend a qualifier this year! IRL meetups look so FUN and I'm really missing out haha

Thank you for sharing your community. My hobby community is very small, as well. I've seen my friends twice in the last 4 years and I know what it's like to have droughts of face to face with friends. Thanks for sharing your experiences
I love discovering videos like this. Makes me interested in things I never knew I would be
We really, REALLY need a mic for the controllers. We need to hear the roll sound in tournaments. So satisfying.
been in a wormhole watching your videos great stuff 😃👍

I used to play a certain CCG competitively. I was never really good, but I had fun travelling to tournaments with friends from my local scene and making new friends from all over the world. i've stopped playing that game (for various reasons), but I get to re-live those vibes every time Scout posts one of his "tournament diary" videos. I vividly remember that feeling of getting together and playing your favourite game with people you don't get to see that often. The game I played was not the same, but the feeling of community certainly is.

Oh, man I SOOOO much miss the LAN days I had during the late 1990s and early 2000s. We even played Tetris back then on the tetrinet client. Though mostly, CS and quake and some Command and Conquer. ^^
HELL YEAH new tetris content! Let's GOO!!
Can’t wait to see a Tetris 2023 world championship experience video in January 2026
I don't know how this community doesn't have million dollar tournaments. These videos are far more engaging than watching League and CS:GO tournaments.
This video just provides immaculate vibes. Brings me back to being a teenager hanging out w buds playing games. Even a trip to the local diner
Everyone just looks so happy and friendly :)

Really impressed by how much effort you clearly put into this video. Countless hours, I'm sure. You're a gem to the tetris community! Great work
To me this could be the coolest gaming moment of the last ten years if not more easily! This here is gaming at its core. Minus the cellphones and video fidelity, i could easily think this was something happening in the 80s and 90s. Reminds me of times my friends and I would drag several computers together to have LAN matches of Doom and Quake. To see this right here warms this old gamer's heart!
Crazy progress these kids have made in just 2 and a half-3 years man amazing stuff!.
30:09 "level 146" oh okay then, so he's literally just a god
It's kind of bizarre how young all the top competitors are for this methusalem of a game. And then we have the guy who tries to document it all inbetween everything. aGameScout... more like aGameDad :D Srsly: this channel and (at least by your portrayal) this scene has been nothing but wholesome... which sounds like the biggest BS ever spouted in '23 Chef's kiss, go on, you deserve every accolade thrown at you.
I think watching this entire video and being thoroughly interested is officially the nerdiest thing I’ve ever done

I'm so confused in terms of the timeline here (when this happened; rolling in its infancy; world record holder at the time; live tournament score record at the time; etc.)
@aGameScout
Жыл бұрын
I should’ve maybe made it more clear in the script, but this tournament was just 4 months after Cheez had started maining rolling and the wider community had really learned about it so most other players were only just getting started with it, and it was just the second major live tournament after the South Carolina qual since the 2019 CTWC (and the field here was stronger overall than South Carolina hence all the live world records)
I liked that a Tetris tournament is stacked.
The music is called Pyxis by Home
I don't remember ever seeing Supershocky's face. Kind of an unexpected video to see it for the first time 😄

so much innocence and purity in one room
2:56 that song choice killed me 🤣
16:29 That actually makes me think. I know that it's not completely impossible, as Jonas has gotten level 30 with DAS. But it is incredibly hard.

Yeah, it's definitely possible to get at least a few lines, but exponentially improbable to get much further than that, so the 80k I needed would've definitely been impossible haha

i hate that the stories are so old but the videos are fire
