@@tshrg167 OTR drivers spend the majority of their time traveling on the interstate highway system. There are rest areas and truck stops everywhere. Personally I used Gatorade bottles to pee in mainly because most drivers pee on the ground and truck stop parking lots literally smell like piss in the warmer months. I wasn't comfortable adding to that problem. Hope it answered your question. Take care.

Been local for 6 years ( easy, hauling fuel) . And I remember being STRESSED otr esp during winter months. But I am still thinking about going back otr and being miserable again because I saved so much money when I did it last time, even as a company driver if you have no kids you should minimum be saving 40k a year. After 3-5 years you have yourself setup with a nice cushion when you’re local.

5:30 CB radio goes into the first shelf on the top of your head between driver and passenger. All you have to do is to plug the antenna & power cable from the freightliner factory into your CB, then you're good to go. There is no need for an external antenna. The truck comes with one.

I added onto my factory antenna w/an aftermarket… the factory one only gets about 0.5mi to 1mi at the most. I’m currently speaking and listening out to about 5 miles with the one I installed. I would highly recommend the replacement antenna.

Here's some food for thought - .securing items in the cabinets may be a simple-ish task. Try a fabric store, or similar, looking for thickish 1" mesh...you cut to the height you want. Secure (inside the cabinets) with the adhesive of your choice...my personnel choice would lean towards super glue (cyanoacrylate - cheapest in hobby stores that sell plastic models)...it may relieve your need to brace things when you open cabinets. It's worked for me for several years...and that's where I found it. You've got alot of storage in that truck. Makin' things easier would add to its value to you

The CB goes up on top in middle. There is a cable that twists on back of cb and then you should have a fuse power chord also that connects to your cb in back. Then mic goes in front. And you can buy a small bungee and undo screws a bit on middle roof and put hooks under and screw hooks back in and that will be the device you can hang mic up on and you need to buy from truck stop the retractable hook that fits around the round backing of your mic. Then it should work off stereo antenna but if not you can buy cables that connect in back of cb then splits our to both sides of trk to mount to mirrors. On sides of doors of cab. Hope this helps. Lastly to test cb. Once power put cb on swr and channel 1 and key mic and watch needle and turn swr til it stays in red. Then on channel 40 same process. Once tuned that's done as far as getting antennas set with cb. Next you have a squelch button when you turn power on turn volume up and then turn squelch backed off til you don't hear squelch but volume still up. And that's basic set up.

I feel your pain with everything spilling out every time you open your cabinets, on a sail boat it’s even worse! We used a lot of plastic containers different sizes with and without lids and screwed in some eye hooks that we attached a bungee cord across to keep the head injuries and mess less. 😆 Thank you for the tour and the work you do, stay safe!!! 💕

Good vid man. I find it odd those "bunk area" windows dont have screens though. Would seem essential depending on what area of the nation you're driving. Mosquitos, moths, flies ect.. My personal guess would be that tank was perhaps for gas for the boats for the dock area you saw. That was pretty interesting seeing as I have a passive interest in archeology and all that, so its like you came across something that maybe is close to 70+yrs old and isnt quite nonrecgonizable but is becoming that way.

OH LORD Alex !!! It's a gosh darn Citizens Band radio !!! A CB radio !! I had one on my Schwinn Sting Ray bike in 1973. Can I suggest watching the 1978 movie "Convoy" based on the CW McCall song by the same name. That radio puts you in real time contact with your fellow truckers. There might even be some Smokies (police) who still monitor ch 19. So Google how to install the radio and get your ears on good buddy. Get yourself a handle (nick name) and get jawing on the channel. Big plus is it can add some neat content. You ever find yourself on Long Island by mistake give me a shout. Handle is Time Bomb. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down. Catch ya' on the flip flop good buddy.

Maybe years ago there was a boat dock for refueling there. Oil, pipeline and tank stuff, seems to fit what may have been there.

Knight and swift aren't bad for new drivers, even though you'd get crap with swift for driving for them. Take things slow and you'll get more confident as you go along. If it takes you 20 minutes to do a successful back and not hit anything, so be it. We were all rookies once

First, Thanks for what you do to deliver stuff to make life easier for people You need to read truck manual to see all it does google to see how antenna goes on mirror to work the (name escapes me ) it’s a radio and you can talk to others on the road! Used to be big in the 70’s and 80’s Was fun traveling long distances I thought there was a limit to hours driving ? Friend drove a smaller truck and had to keep a log of hours Her company had a computer installed too! Great amount of space in cab ! Again thanks ! HAM RADIO that’s the name I had a nice time talking to truckers on a trip I made back then !

@10:46 tip: when you use candles you should always burn it long enough for the entire top layer to be melted so you don't end up with a hole in the middle and waste a lot of wax

I'd say with the frame from a dock, the oil sign, tank, and pipes it was probably a marina. If you haven't got that cb hooked up yet you'll want to. It's the best tool you'll use as a driver. Ask another driver for help with it if you need it. Great video.

Alex I was having a very bad week and feeling very depressed. Watching your video made me laugh. You are very funny. When you were showing us your CB radio saying you bought this radio and the CB antenna but it's been sitting up here because I have no idea how to install it, that sounds exactly like something I would do. I am NOT handy AT ALL, not bragging about that, it's kind of embarrassing. Anyway, you have a very nice truck, thanks for the video, and be very safe out there on the road.

Back in the 80`s I had a cigarette plug in heater and cooler for food. My music box with cb was custom made box for easy transfer from truck to truck. I was a company driver out 3 weeks at a time and mostly drove a cab over. Big difference from today.

Unscrew the broom and slide it into the side box if it goes far enough under the bunk. Or you can secure it in the loadlock rack on the back of the sleeper. I kept mine in the side box. I had a little house broom for inside the tractor until my wife saw it and became attached to it. It's been sweeping my front porch for years.
