steam is not representative of the PC gamers...the pirate bay is much more presentative than steam, i use steam, i have 45 games in it, but by no means, i consider it something that you have to have as a gamer.

i know this is 3 years old, i put 2 pvc pipes inserted together and screwed the mounts for the sensors, WORKS PERFECT and no need for holes in the wall. was like 5 bucks total

Give him a break. He's a MAC user (from the results his first VR check was on an MBP, not a PC). MAC users don't generally understand the idea of "powerful graphics card", so he may not have encountered the NVidia name before. Mac users think graphics power increases with the number of shots Starbucks coffee. ;-)

This is exactly what they have on the Vive channel...

I mean this is still pretty simple for plenty of reasons: 1. Steam is a program owned by pretty much every PC gamer, so installing it won't be trouble. 2. It provides you with all the tools needed and useful instructions for setting up the base stations. 3. All you really have to do in terms of controllers is connect them to your pc 4. The headset requires little more than plugging in some cords 5. All you have to do after that is download and run the setup program and calibrate your room space 6. Play When you compare that to setting up some other things like a steering wheel, it's pretty easy. I mean with a steering wheel you have to: 1. find a reasonable way of holding the steering wheel down without drilling holes in your desk 2. download any software required to use it 3. make sure you have the correct accessories you want to use it with (like a stick shift, pedals, etc) 4. find a way to prevent the accessories from moving around 5. Make sure all the inputs are being recognized by your pc 6. Follow some maybe not so great instructions on changing the controls for your game 7. Change the controls and troubleshoot when it doesn't work 8. Test out the feedback and make sure everything feels smooth, adjusting settings when something's wrong 9. Play

if you don't have tripods, for the time being, you can also just put them on some boxes and chairs because the tracking still works fine even on waist height and without the 45-degree angel :D

In pretty much same situation as you, right down to the older self build PC :-) this was a really helpful video, thanks.

What I learned in setting up my Vive was to ///TAKE DOWN ALL REFLECTIVE ARTWORK// from my tiny office... because lasers. Now my walls are all covered in 3M velcro strips. :( Next house must have a dedicated holodeck.

Michigan Sunde I have a martial arts studio I set up my voice in. if course that means larger mirrors all along the wall. I have a large projector (225+" screen, great for people watching you play VR) that i can use to cover a large portion of the mirrors with, but still had to use extra material to cover more area as my play area is so large. I only had to cover as far as my lighthouses go, so not the entire wall.

ok i have a Vive and what they dont tell you lady's and gentleman is the vive base stations dont work with LED lights in your room or house at all and second the playspace size sucks for the headset you have to have the sensors 16 feet across kiddy corner from each other so if your vr room happens to be 25 feet in length acrossed your kinda screwed.

You need a Steam Account. You dont have one, but you have 2 tripods laying around. Steam is a clever l i t t l e platform. With more than 125 million active accounts. NiVidia. Ouchies.

Was a console gamer just moved to pc within the last year so pretty late to the party here but good vid nonetheless. I have $600 left on the full kit for Vive pro 2 left out of $2,200 Au. So yes this was indeed helpful for me. Ran the vr test on steam and its all in the max so good news there.

also have a vive, i higly recommend to use the advanced setting in the room setup, and it isnt hard at all to set things up, installing the graphics card was probably the hardest thing in this vid. also never use usb3 port for the vive

Wish I saw this vid sooner. Spent about 3 hours trying to figure out how to connect my vive when there was only 1 hdmi slot. I thought they could just go into any port. Did not know both devices had to be plugged into the graphics card in some way

30mins for me. I just bugged for my controller to be detected for about 2mins. You just have to "associate controller" in steam vr software and click in the same time on the 2 round button on each controller until you hear 2 bip sound and its done.

what it the monitor you put on the displayadapter or the headgear...I just wanted to know i am stressing over the set up for this VR

Not much as i found out as i did the setup myself for my Htc Vive and it was totally worth it.

I was scared of the setup but doesn't seem too bad.

I want a company to make rc cars with a camera, drive and film while i control it from home. Example have a remote controlled rc car drive on the beach while i control it from home in VR. Old people in nursing homes would just love this type of immersion.

i got my HTC vive used, and it doesnt have the micro usb cables for the controllers, can i just use a samsung phone charger as a back up?

I have the problem with the HDMI and display ports as well, glad to see this solution will work before I buy the cable. Can’t wait to play Skyrim in VR.

There is no significant difference between standing mode and play area, the only difference is the ring around your feet becoming a “safety net” to show your play space. You can freely move around in both.

Will Vive work on my laptop that has everything spec above minimum but has graphics card 1050 Ti

I'd say turn your blue tooth on the base station and handsets so it's easier to do the updates it's a pain having to disconnect !

whenever I hook up the hdmi the computer.screen gets really big and most of it gets cut off

its rediculos that you have to get an adapter, i just got my vive, and cant use it the whole weekend because i dont have a freaking adapter

its just happened to me right now, my vive just arrived only to find out i need 2 spare hdmi inputs smh took me 4hours to figure it out

It’s annoying how my HDMI port is blocked so I have to unplug my monitors hdmi and then plug in the vives hdmi cord into it it works but it’s pretty annoying how one of my hdmi ports is blocked

They have surprisingly good battery life, so you will only need to charge them every few days.

If any if you guys like me has a HTC or Morden HTC PRO get Beat Saber super fun and you burn a lot more then setting on a chair also HTC experience is much cooler then what you think it looks better if you try it for yourself

Don’t worry about the slot. My 4090 also only has 1 hdmi

It only took me an hour and a half to put mine together. The trip to Walmart for the display adapter was annoying. Other than that it’s not that difficult to set up

i was hoping for it to take this long and be this simple , nooo multiple restarts, firmware updates and still i only manages to get one controller paired and working, well looks like sunday will be spent trying to bet the other controller working :(
