Hydro characters also seem to be the epitome of the "still waters run deep" metaphor where they all present themselves to others/society in a certain way but then also have a wildly contrasting deeper side that only appears in private. Things like a kinder, more eccentric or even insecure aspect.

Water is the element of change. The wielders of Hydro are capable of adapting to many things, they have a deep sense of community that holds them together through anything

Well done! Genshin’s writing has more depth and attention to detail than many recognize, in ways that remind me of well-done animes-even if the some of stories seem almost naive or silly, insight like this helps me understand and appreciate the depth and art of the characters and their world.

I've alwayse have some grip with those theory on character type = this type of vision since its really seems way to subjective for me But hey you made an actual good point on each character, but i still wonder if it dont overlap with other aspect or character

Thank you. There is 100% some overlap in the broad description of many characters, such as Chongyun fitting Pyro (long line of exorcists) and Hu Tao fitting Hydro (duty to protect the balance). However, when looking into the specifics, a more definitive motivation can be found. (Overcoming excessive yang energy and inherited dream, respectively)

I agree! From my experience with writing, defining a character’s motives so clearly that they don’t allow for overlap with other ideals/themes is insanely challenging-as our world is such a complex and dynamic thing. To strictly define a human’s identity is a Sisyphusian task, so especially when a storyteller defines their character by showing us how they interact with their world, it can be hard to see the character as the storyteller sees them. To me, considering how little screen time and the variety of interaction in Genshin’s story, the amount of depth and subtle definition they’re able to provide is admirable. And I enjoyed this analysis, because regardless of how accurate it was, this creator’s perspective helped me see the characters in a deeper and new light!

Pretty good but was wondering what you meant by code ( was a little vague on that) . Was also curious as to how any of this connects to the already preestablished justice themes hydro already has. Not as clear cut as the pyro video but still very enjoyable can't wait for anemo!

My apologies. A code is a strict set of rules one follows. For Mona, it's the rules of astrology her master taught her. For Childe, it's his training to grow stronger. For Xingqiu, it's Guhua. And for Neuvillette, it's the law, which is fun because one definition of 'code' is "A systematic collection of laws or regulations."

As she hasn't been released, I cannot read her story yet. Once she is, I'll likely pin a comment explaining it. However, I would guess it has to do with her healing anybody no matter who they are or why they're in the Fortress of Meropide.

In some twist of fate, i have most problem with hydro characters. It's like they are carefully crafted in a way to be repulsive to me. And because i pull for only characters i like, after 3 years im still waiting for hydro applicator which i'll like. Fontein is almost over so, almost all hope is lost... Well, at least i like Barbara and Mona:)
