What it feels like to FINALLY UNDERSTAND THEORY (Student Interview with Annie Brooks)

Here is another amazing feedback from Annie, one of my students who just finished the program... 🙏 - Annie is an incredible guitarist and songwriter... I actually saw her play a few times live before she decided to take the course.
Like many songwriters, she reached a point where she really wanted to understand music theory and how to better navigate the fretboard. She enjoyed the "magic" of not knowing what she was doing for a few years until she realized it was blocking her musical development.
She wanted to learn new tools, better understand and arrange the songs she was writing, and communicate with her bandmates and other musicians professionally.
Good job Annie! May you inspire many others through your music and your newfound knowledge.

Your videos have finally put the pieces together. I started playing sax seriously, but always had a guitar that I self taught to fool around with. Never understood guitar from a guitar perspective- always transposed linear sax theory combined with basic piano theory. It was enough to have fun and fool around with. I now have an understanding of how all these pieces to the puzzle fit! I can now “see” the picture of the puzzle I’m working on. Thank you very much!!!

Thank you for this!!! Question: I am in a very similar situation, older player - played in bands - have played out. Non musicians think I play well. Started taking lessons (for the first time ever) about a year and a half ago. The focus is mainly on theory, scales, chords, notes on the neck, circle of fifths on both piano and guitar. How long would you say it takes to go from clueless to enlightened??? Thanks again!!!

If your teacher is good and you study regularly, it should not take more than 5months. Perhaps 10 of you want to go deep into jazz :)
