I have a little pony stallion and he has all five personalities, he is a delight to be around, very unique little guy who makes me laugh everyday. He is a leader over all the other horses who are over 16hh. He is brave, intelligent, a fast learner, reliable, gentle, and unforgettable.

I feel like most horses are agreeable, i feel like some horses just have more independent minds and like to try to do things their own way first before being agreeable to you, but with understanding i think all horses really want to please you. Like Journey and khalessi have totally different personalities, but they both please in their own ways, at first Journey doesn't always want to try but once you get her going she really has a heart, as khalessi she is a asb and is soo sensitive that she will test u but because she is so sensitive she is always trying to please you and super sensitive to everything you do, so like if I am nervous she might be nervous, if im nervous she might even try be more gentle, or like just saddlebreds are like arabians and tbs, they just give so much, like its so hard to explain. Yet people say asbs are stupid all the time, they are far from stupid. Feeling alone and misunderstood in this world myself, these hot breeds are also understood and i feel like personally I connect more to the hotter more sensitive horses of how much they give to you. As Journey she still puts effort its just different.

I just feel like hot breeds are soo receptive, this sometimes is accused as being not agreeable because they are spooky, but Id rather have a spooky horse then a pushy horse. I think the spooky ones are usually the most agreeable and people misunderstand them and make it worse by handling them wrong. I think horses like qhs seem more agreeable simply because they are calmer and seem to most people as sane but too me I don't think they are always as agreeable I think qhs and those types of breeds tend to be more independent minded and like to challenge that more and will kind of make you put more effort for them to be agreeable as a saddlebred, thoroughbred, or arabian will be like ok ok ok, with jsut a bit of pressure and they are like ok i just want to please u, as these horses really hate conflict and tension, and too me I feel like these breeds are actually more agreeable because they are soo sensitive and want to please but people mis read that as crazy, hot, spooky, when they are actually just reading into everythingg and asking u what am I supposed to do, when you give to them a 100 percent they give you 110 back. Too me thats my idea of agreeableness.

Like when a hot breed is scared about something they look to you like what do I do about this and instead people are like thattt crazy horse, and the horses are left alone to deal with that and they shut down. Spook.

I have done a degree covering personality types, and developmental psychology. I'm 58 I've never met two people who are the same or similar really. I think its the same with animals too. Everyone is unique. I see people projecting what they think other people are thinking. I see parents who project all kinds of things onto their kids. The truth is you can't know what other people are thinking or what motivates them just like horses you cannot know what they are thinking. Horses, Children, husbands and wives, all you can really do is treat everyone with kindness and compassion and accept them on face value just as they are from day to day.

This gave me a lot of insight. Thank you! It make me think about him differently. I wanted to ask a few questions: 1. Consciousness- his stall is average. he will step in poo in the arena and do not seem to care. He is however, obsessed with cleaning his mouth. He literally wipes his mouth on the stall doors after eating grain. he dunks his hay before eating. I have seen him pick things out of his teeth by biting wood to make it rough, and curling his lips back and rubbing his teeth on the rail. how aware dies this make him? or would it fall under a neuroticism.

i have two horses. one is a 14 year old morgan/arab cross mare. she is relatively open to new experiences, she might baulk the first time but she gets over it quickly. she is definitely an extrovert and very conscientious; her stall is always clean besides the back wall. for literally everybody but me she is agreeable and does not argue. me she will test me nonstop. she is also not very neurotic shes pretty much bomb proof again unless if im riding her she will fake spook and act like shes afraid. my other filly is gonna be 3 in june shes a thoroughbred not handled until she was 10 months old and very sparsely handled throughout her short life. she is actually very open to new experiences weirdly she doesn freak out about a lot of stuff she *should* being shes two. shes definitely an introvert; bottom man of the herd, keeps to herself. she trashes her stall i have to strip it every three or four days i dont know what she does or how she does it but shes an absolute pig. she is always generally reaonanly agreeable unless you overload her bu asking her to do too many new things because of baby brain and then her brain melts and she will fight you and shes very very stubborn. she is reasonably neurotic in the sense of she has been handled and she does have manners but it has been so sparse in her life that she gets stressed over small things like farriers or if shes tied too long she will start trying to cribb on whatever she can but thats the only time she cribs is when she is stressed.

My 6 year old thoroughbred is typically not spooky or excitable except in the trailer. He goes in pretty well but is really scared inside. His legs are shaky when he gets out. I try to take my calm horse with us to help him. He has a very short attention span and is easily bored and will start pawing, chewing or just moving around. He is very pushy and non agreeable on the ground but the opposite under saddle. He does well with a snaffle bit. He is very messy in his stall though. He has a low tolerance for flies and will start kicking. He sometimes bucks if a horse fly is on him. Not that I blame him any.

One of my horses at home is very careful of his surroundings and isn’t a lover of having people around. He is broken and riding and fine in that aspect. However, few months back he became difficult to manage and seems to be gone kind of head shy, in regards to bridle & rub. Yet sometimes he’s docile as you would ever see a horse, but when anyone goes about rubbing his head or tacking him, he can become a liability and dangerous. Relating back to neuroticism, could you advise me on perhaps how to go about solving this?

This sounds pain related to me, given the sudden onset. I would start by having a horse dentist check his teeth and gums. It could also be tension in the jaw he is having trouble getting rid of by himself.

I personally like the hotter and more sensitive horses, I think they try soo much and are so intuned to you. So i dont understand why people dislike them for this. Cuz they are sooo smart because of it. Especially emotionally.

They really read their owners. Its really unlike any other horse, arabians, morgans, tbs, marwaris, hackneys, ahkal tekes, and saddlebreds are all like this and very sensitvie, but the feeling of being with them is like no one horse.

I see so much personality in them and i just don't get how people don't see how wonderful, smart, and engaged they are too you, your feelings, and the things you do. They want to please and will give everything once they feel secure. They are aware of the subtlest changes, and not only enviromental changes but your moods etc.

Is it bad for a horse to be dirty all the time? I go by a boarding horse stable almost every day and the horses are so dirty and flys all over their face and around eyes more then their legs, so sad. They tell me they roll in the dirt but I never see that. I never see them running around, they are always eating grass then they walk to get water and walk back to eat grass.I'm worry about these horses. Then the hire hand that works there told me , out of all the horses there only 2 or 3 are ridden by owners. The rest of them just glaze in the pastures. Don't horses need excerise?
