What is Work in Physics? - [1-7]

In this lesson, you will learn the definition of work in physics. In physics, work is defined to be the dot product of the force vector and the displacement vector. In more conventional terms, it is the produce of force times distance. If the force and distance are not in the same direction, the dot product introduces the cosine of the angle between the vectors which uses the force in the direction of motion for the calculation. Work has units of Joules, which is the same unit for potential energy and kinetic energy. Because of this, work can be used to calculate how much energy a system gains or loses in a process.

One thing: Most of the people I've known love to work (sometimes it's better to say, they love 'having worked'), especially if the work is meaningful or helpful. Cheers. Great lesson,

There is no kinetic energy in a moving mass there is force Mv squared , kinetic energy is the energy of consistent work from a consistent force regards Graham Flowers

I woke up and realized. I fart electrons. We capture that work on cows. Also, aren't we always traveling in a spiral, hence the work done on the ball is circular...🤔

Why vertical components are not included there are cases where force and displacement are not in sync and that's the crux of manipulative definition of work which destroys the free energy concept can you plz Illuminate us sir plz🙏🙏🙏🙏

Vertical motion can count for work. If a force moves an object in the direction of the force then work is done in the object.
