AEG was the company that originally made this game. They decided to get out of the ccg business and sold their games to various other publishers. Those games included legend of the five rings. The ones they did not sell off they just canceled which is what happened to warlord.

Warlord is just one of the greatest ccgs ever made. Thats what it is.

As soon as I saw the kickstarter I immediately backed it. Such good memories from college while playing it.

The boss like characters are part of a challenge system at the end of a tournament. The winner got to play against the deck using their normal tournament deck. If they defeated the overlord, they got to keep that deck! You could then get the overlord signed by an DragonLord runner to challenge Dragon lords at conventions. Then you could do the same with the Dragon lord to challenge the Medusen lord.

Thanks for doing this. I'm just as excited about this as you are. Keziah Loris Daggers was a misprint as a rare, it's actually a common which is why it has the star stamp at the bottom.

47:36 the treasures have errata to remove the “ante” rules on them =) That was definitely a vintage CCG thing that never went mainstream. Mtg tried it via formats at some point but shit it down pretty quickly.

I remember this game. I am Brasílian and I remember see this in a shop in Florianópolis while visiting my uncle's family. I Was there to buy MtG but I saw many people playing this game.

18:42 The cards in the top loader are special “challenge lords”. The Warlord CCG challenge system is legendary in the world of CCGs. The cards you got are one overlord, and one Dragonlord to showcase the difference in power level 😊 The way it works is that you challenge an overlord at a local tournament, and you need to beat it with your tournament deck to win and get to keep it. 1st place gets the first go at it. If they lose, then 2nd place gets to try, and so on and so fourth until someone wins, or it goes undefeated. If you beat it, you get to keep it! Then you go to a large event and challenge a _Dragonlord_ person by handing over your overlord so that they physically SIGN your overlord and that’s your one chance to try to beat the Dragonlord. If you lose, you’re going to have to get another unsigned Overlord to try again. If you win, you get to KEEP it, and it’s your ticket to challenge the next and final level: the all-powerful and unique in the world (as in, just 3 exist!), a Medusan Lord! I figured you’d love rogues ;)

@@RedZoneRoguethat’s also why I sent two of the Sorscha demo decks: so you could crack them and put them together to make a “full sized” deck with them. Just note that you can only have one warlord in your deck/army (except for alliance format, which is two warlords), so be sure to remove the second sorscha before playing. =)

10:30 Just watching the video now, loving every minute!! So Warlord was dropped by AEG because they decided to stop producing CCG’s and just focus on board games, so they just stopped killed off Warlord, L5R, Doomtown, and 7th Sea ccg 11:18 for rarity, on top of what you mentioned, an upside-down triangle is a promo card, and a star in a circle is a “fixed rare” that usually comes from a starter deck. 13:05 for equipping, you add the level of the character plus the rank they occupy to find out the highest level item that they can equipo. So the further back they are, the higher the level item they can equip!

These are the most innocent decks i have ever seen. you can see that you had a lot of fun with it! :D These two overpowered cards xaxxon and atlus are challangelords. They were part of the organized play, and if you beat them you kept them and took them home! :)

This is a kickstarter that I am bummed about because I am not able to back it. I have a lot of stuff, but I will have to pick up the new stuff at a later time unfortunately. Good job on the video.

You can back the kickstarter for $1!… and that will give you another 2-3 weeks to place an order afterwards via the backer kit! =)

I love that he pulled a foil Soul Gem from that one pack and I was eyeing the Temple of Lore XD Really cool that he sent you a Dragonlord as part of the gift bundle! I never played against Altus, but some of those Dragonlords were suuuuuper tough to beat.

Cheers! This was definitely a long time coming!

The game looks cool but I will likely never play it. I don’t have any close friends that would try it with me and also the wallet fatigue from other TCGs is real. The artwork looks great. I love old school fantasy. Edit: after researching the game some and watching the recent Team Covenant content I decided to back the game. I am still skeptical about its success but I like the guys heading the effort this time around and the gameplay looks good. Backed at the Warlord bundle level to check it out.

The Kickstarter has some free-to-download demo decks that you can print and play with if you want to try the game without spending much =)

I used to play this and it died when they printed a card that broke the game and they didn't do anything about it.

Which card? The current Ancients format is well regulated, and the new 5th Edition format is going to be very controlled as well =)
