What is Up with the Diffs and Shocks on the Losi Mini LMT?!?!

Ойын-сауық

If you caught my initial debut and overview of the new Losi Mini LMT, I had two things I mentioned I wanted to play around with to make this truck even better! The first was the diffs. I found it was really tough to execute any saves or bring the truck back from being on two wheels as the diffs were really loose. I figured some thicker fluid in the diffs would fix that.
The second was the shocks. I wanted just a little looser of a suspension setup. Just to soak up the hits a little better instead of bouncing so much.
Man was I surprised trying to make these little changes!! The diffs were not what I expected and the shocks are designed in a way that I have never seen in RC before!!
Still we'll see what kind of adjustments we can make to see if we can make this little truck even better than it is right out of the box!

All of Losi’s cars had shocks without a top cap back in the day starting with the Jrx2. Man I feel old now 😂

Yep that's definitely before my time in rc 😂 First rc was a mini e-revo and all since have had shocks that were built in roughly the same way! Guess that's why I was shocked to see these be a little different

I remember those older Losi shocks. Those were my first aftermarket shocks when I converted my stock Clod to a JPS chassis and I could never figure them out, lol. Eventually I switched over to Associated shocks since they were so much easier to rebuild 😄.

Jb weld the spider gears, just like welding the spider gears on a real truck. Rc version of a Lincoln locker.

That'll be the next step if no one comes out with a sealed diff! Was really hoping to see an option for us to tune the diffs with different weight fluids

I used to JB Weld the diffs for some of my Mod Clods back in the day, but I used to snap axles and axles shafts until the MIP CVDs came out for it. It made for some fun saves and sidewall cyclones though!

I would’ve destroyed my shocks if I hadn’t watched this! Never seen those either that’s crazy design. Guess they want everyone to purchase the upgraded versions

I was a little nervous about breaking mine as well trying to twist the caps off 😖😖

It's something I've never seen before in rc. I can't quite figure out what's the advantage of a design like that but I feel like there's gotta be something for them to do it

The Losi mini b/t have the same bottom cartridge design. It sucks! Btw, I just swapped out the axles for the Treal’s last night and holy cow are there a lot of screws in the stock ones. 😳

Yes!! The amount of screws holding these axles in is insane! But they are really tough so I won't complain too much!

If you can fit very small o rings,it will tighten the diff. Just be careful not to use to thick o rings

Would that not make the gear mesh too tight, wearing them out quicker? Or am I misunderstanding what you're meaning?

@FullThrottleRC that is a concern, you just need to take out as much slop as possible! Then use very heavy grease

How do you go about bleeding them though? It's always been easy for me to bleed shocks with the typical top cap

I guess maybe that's where losi picked up that design being part of Horizon Hobby now. I'm not a fan of it for sure
