Okay here is the deal: True love is when one loves and cares about someone unconditionally without any of his interests embedded in it. Now when humans love each other in any shape or form there has to be their personal “agenda” hidden in it, in simple terms when it (love) makes one feel good about himself or herself then it is not a true love. Now we are left with only our creator who doesn’t need anything whatsoever. In fact He doesn't need anything from any of His creatures and that is the only one Allah. Allah loves his creatures unconditionally and that is true and pure love. I hope it clears all the misconceptions and misunderstandings at least in our species.

Not just in humans, even birds experience some form of that theophanic love. To quote Manteq al-tayr (Conference of the Birds): “ “this process of self-transformation applies in various ways to all species of birds; but when it comes to the falcon, it is the power of the transmutative arts of taming that [the author] evokes as a means of conversion. Such arts should in fact be understood as the earthly manifestation of the Supreme Lord’s transcendental love:”
