great idea, but it definitely all comes down to the execution of the class groupings. seems super hard to please everyone (or most people) when intentionally placing limitations, but i think it's definitely doable.

I like this idea. Will force people to play creative and surprising decks. Heaps better than specialist.

I certainly prefer this to specialist as a spectator, but I hope we still get LHS because that format really allows for some crazy off meta snipe decks.

I actually liked Specialist... in theory. Based on the name, I expected that every player in a pod of 8 would be forced to play a different class -- hence, each would be a "specialist" for that class. This Trio format seems to be aiming for a similar idea, but it's much better implemented. I look forward to see which strategy the players will employ; will they converge to the "best bucket", or will they try to counter the expected meta?

Seems fun. It's always nice to watch when people aren't all playing the same decks.

This seems like a lot of fun, can anyone reveal in what range of trios will be available each selection? Will it be more like 3 of 4, or more 7+ because I think think when there are a lot of trios with all including one class(example warlock) it allows for more creativity when you can have warlock Paladin druid but also warlock Paladin priest (aka 2/3 being in two different trios)

Because in example 1, of warlock Paladin druid you can have token style zoo, aggro pally and aggro druid, and in the second variant you can have warlock Paladin and priest as all slower decks with good anti aggro potential

I think they said there would be 5 different trio buckets available, but don't quote me on that.

There are going to be five different groups for this week, but in future tournaments, it could be more or less than that (depending on the event and the organizer's preference).

Like it, and think it's definitely a good idea to shake things up from a viewer's perspective. Only thing is I know some GM players are a bit turned off by it, which is understandable and sad in a way. Although I certainly hope they end up seeing the fun in it ;) Eager to see how it pans out in any case!

I feel some of our old school GMs that burntout or lost interest in the linear meta would have loved this in theory the complexity an possible off meta possibilities sound amazing. I haven't stopped watching grandmasters but I dont think I've watched a full stream since darkmoon faire this definitely ignites an urge to watch more GM

At this point just delete priest and save the world from the constant shade and tears.
