Also gen 4 bronzor/bronzgong with high defence, hypnosis and confuse ray and either immune to ground or reduces fire damage, can rarely oneshot as you meet them early, and they are everywhere. (This is of course if you are doing a repel-free run)

While I appreciate the work you put into this, I think one factor that should have been included with this is difficulty of dealing with that specific Pokémon. I.e. how difficult it is to fight or run from that Pokémon. Because running into something often is one thing, but if you run from it easily than you barely even register it in your mind. But if you can’t run from it, that makes it far more annoying because it then takes up a significant more chunk of time, so it sticks in your mind as an unpleasant part of the experience. Course that would probably still end up being Zubat, but that’s just my two cents and something to consider if you ever wanted to possibly revisit this topic again

IDK why but here my awful experience with a fakemon in a fan game, so I was playing a fakemon game and it had a event going on that if you reach a route first you'll get a shiny mythic (the chances of the event starting are .001) and I was really really close to the route where the mythic spawned so I ran with confidence and I encountered a squed and it used trap and made me wait for solid 3 minutes till he let me go and someone already took the mythic before me and the reason I didn't kill or catch it was cause it'll break my catch combo

@@gajendrasinghchouhan7877 Should have just broke the combo... If you know that your combo's entire reason for existing is to catch the shiny well.. you are losing that chance with the time delay.. So the obvious choice would be to break the combo go catch the shiny.

I feel there are other major factors, like the ability sturdy if you wanna attack the cave pokemon doubles the amount of time it takes, or pokemon that inflict status. Those can greatly increase the amount of time you have to spend.

And by 1st one, I meant the 1st of the 4 tiles it's in, not the exact first tile I searched because that would be too good to be true. And good nature too! Except in Diglett's Cave where Diglett replaces Zubat & has Arena Trap starting in Gen 3. I think you would rather take the Zubats, is Flash really worth getting in FireRed & LeafGreen for Rock Tunnel?

Me in the middle of the cave: ooooohhhh where haft way there oh oh living in a prayer. The same zubat i encountered 5000 times: wanna see me do it again??

I feel like to get an accurate answer for this you need to take into account pokemon that can keep you from running away like with an out-speed mean look or shadow tag or arena trap. Being able to run away makes the encounters brief but having to actually engage in a battle makes it substantially more annoying.

Credit to you for doing this, and I busted out laughing at the expression you made during this video. You were so disappointed

This was a cool video. I like the way you determined the most annoying Pokemon. 2 things I thought if that I feel are interesting/worth mentioning. 1. In Kalos no Kalos Pokemon made the 10 ten list for annoying cave Pokemon. 2. While not easy to mathematically prove I feel a bigger factor to annoyance that's worth mentioning is actually dealing with the Pokemon you encounter. One of the things that make Zubat and Golbat annoying is hitting you with Supersonic or Confuse Ray but the later you get in the game the easier it is to either 1 shot them or run away. However if you are fitting a Geodude, Graveler, Boldore they likely have Sturdy so you can't 1 shot them plus Geodude and Graveler often seem to know Self-destruct. The caves in Lush Jungle and Vast Poni Canyon as well as Sandy Cave weren't listed for Alola, so that would change things slightly. The plains grotto wasn't either, but there are no encounters there

Tentacool has a higher encounter rate while surfing than zubat in caves In OR AS

I think that Pokémon in caves just spawn a lot and people think zubat is the worst since there are more places it can spawn then others

At least you can escape from Zubats, good luck getting away from Digletts once Gen 3 gives them all Arena Trap.

Honestly when you think of it to, every time you start your journey, if you run into a cave the probability of not having type advantage to KO Zubat quickly. Geodude or any other rock or ground type makes it easier to grind water and grass starters, though fire is bad there, it is still neutral damage to Zubat.

What about Graveler? With it having explosion and self destruct (depending on levels) and from gen 3 onwards having sturdy, I always found it to be way worse when trying to grind in caves. You can one shot Zubat from level 15 or so with any decent mon

I feel like the frequency of encounters is only one factor. There's also how hard it is to escape, considering diglett's arena trap and zubat's relatively high speed. And then there's the experience fighting them, with moves like supersonic and abilities like gen 5 sturdy.

I feel like I don’t even need to watch this to answer: Zubat. Hands down. We’ll see if my theory is confirmed or challenged.
